He can though. He can say "we are in need of players". He's f***ed if he doesn't get any players in to cover his inadequacy. He can play it a lot of different ways, perhaps be more bullish and less scared to upset Ashley. He's hardly going to sack him for it, he's survived last season. Something like this, you mean? "A big player coming in boosts the group as well as the fans," Pardew said. "I'm not going to say something that I don't think is true and say, 'oh, it's not affecting them'. "I think they'd like to see another striker come in the door. "That's something that hopefully will be done before the window shuts.'' If hardly class the word "hopefully" as congruent with a bullish stance on transfers. It's the same as the summer in terms of tone and content of his quotes. He needs players, simple as that. If he's content to "go with what we've got" he's going to experience great difficulty this season. Why is he saying he, and the players, want new players if he's happy to go with what he's got? The quote, that you posted, was: “If it doesn’t happen (new signings), like everything in life we are going to have to get on with it, with what we have got". Does that really read as if he's happy to go with what he's got? On face value no, but it's not like we haven't been here before. These sort or quotes were prevalent last summer and preceded our lack of spending on transfers. He doesn't need to say anything, he should be banging the drum for new signings, stressing that it's absolutely imperative. The press is really his only outlet to do this. It just smacks of him preparing for the backlash to me. So he should do it in the press, causing more disruption and unrest, rather than face to face with the owner? Which, I imagine, he was doing earlier in the week. Vivid imagination.

Virgin were never informed how much Wonga were willing to pay, they were simply told that the deal would be ending and the club weren't prepared to listen to an offer from them. That is correct, they also said they would have been willing to match any offer. This was after the Wonga deal was announced, therefore they could have easily stuck the boot in and said why accept a lower offer, which no one mentioned at all at the time? It is also widely accepted we are receiving £8m a year without any clauses while receiving addons for the youth academy and other projects. So the article is wrong however you look at it. I didn't hear that bit, and it's easy for them to say that after the fact, but do we really think they would have matched ANY offer? Not a very clever way to run a business. I'm still not seeing anything that makes me think Virgin knew how much Wonga were paying.

Is it? It has been WAAAAAAY worse than this (I'm 55 btw) This IS typical Newcastle United, you'll come to understand that over time, apart from the tenure of KK first time, and SBR to a point, it's always been like this, or worse.

What's wrong with Gouffran? i thought he played all right until we took him off. At least he can link play. has good movement and not be pushed off the ball with the slightest bit of contact I've yet to see him actually do anything out on the wing, he needs to be played up front or not at all, quite frankly I'd almost prefer if we said screw you to most of these players and just went with some of the younger players and see if they're good enough or not. Give Bigi, Vuckic Dummett Sammy or anyone who shows something resembling talent, they'll at least try You're doing this in every thread now, so I've got to ask. Who isn't trying? With the exception of Debuchy who's conduct has been very erratic since he came I'm struggling to think of anyone I can criticise for not putting the effort in. the last few matchs (over a few month period mind) but we've seen the players stop trying when something goes wrong, the sunderland match either man city match the liverpool match a combined total from 4 match's of 17 goals conceded 0 scored and abject surrenders all around. They all just stop trying once we go behind and its getting beyond a joke Right, so 'all of them'? with a few exceptions yes, the only ones I could honestly say were doing all they could in those matchs was Krul/Elliott So, we're talking about a team made up of players who are all under performing, all look like they don't care, all look like they're not putting the effort in. Who's fault is it, primarily? -

Not all of it, just the management of the first team. He spoke when he joined about joining the club to be the most important part of a passing team that uses possesion well, I wonder how he feels that particular part of his career move has worked out? Not very well, I'd imagine. Whether or not he'd be quite so damning of the manager/club for that, I really don't know. I'm certainly not going to pretend I do, just because I'm not keen on him. you don't see the difference do you? between saying i hope cabaye comes out and slates pardew as the reason for wanting leave vs as i know that pardew is the main reason cabaye wanted to leave i hope he states it publicly when he leaves Wey, I was responding to Venky's question there. But, aye, I do understand the difference. That's why I asked for the clarification on which you were saying. Howay man, let's not do this. Don't make me start calling you something 'humorous' as well -

my main hope is that when he moves he comes out and publicly slates pardew as the reason for leaving, it might wake a few f***ers up That would be great. Aye never happens like i know I fail to see how one of our best players leaving and slating the club/manager on his way out can be construed as "great", but that may just be me.. Nope, with you on this one. I'm not with you. The only chance of these fuckers leaving is if people actually make a fuss, whether it be the fans, the players, the ex-players. Someone has to actually speak up and make people pay attention to just how disgracefully we're being ran as a club. and it would make the sum total of fuck all difference, Ashley doesn't give half a fuck what anyone thinks of him Then why did Llambias tell everyone to stop calling him nasty names? Why did Ashley write an open letter to the fans in which he mentioned concerns for his safety at the match? -

What about Tiote completely ignoring David Silva for the first? He just let him wander into the box. David Silva. World cup winner. That could be a lapse in concentration, as an isolated incident it doesn't constitute not putting the effort in.
