Right, this won't happen. It never happens man.

His CV suggests that last season wasn't the norm, why should we go through another season like this one to find out what we already know? I don't care about his CV, mate. I'll make my own judgement. I find that pretty staggering to be honest. Again with the dragging up posts. It may be surprising, but, 'staggering'? Is every manager doomed to repeat their previous failings for eternity? As I said in a later post, it's not as if I'm blindly ignoring it, I'd just rather see what happens here, before making my own judgements. You're remarkably sensitive aren't you? I'm just reading through the thread and commenting on stuff i find interesting. I do find it staggering that you'd just ignore history, those that do are bound to fail. I also think 2 years should be long enough to make a judgement on a manager.

He's absolutely guaranteed to say and do mental things, at least they'll get noticed, might be nice for them.

Di Canio is fantastic entertainment value, I'd welcome that.
  6. Villa are probably better than us imo. Considering where both the teams were going into this season that's a fucking disgrace.

Whether they stay up or not the short term future is grim for them. O'Neill was it, he was the best manager they could ever hope to appoint, he was their one shot at making a go of it and it's gone even worse than most of us expected it to Whoever comes in is taking charge of a club still making big losses and with old shit players on long contracts. Short's made an absolute mess of it.

They should retire the 31 jacket as a mark of respect.
  10. Writing one game off, against an Uber team like this , where the effort and damage involved in competing is so high, compared to the other games up coming is acceptable yes. I hope you are right. so do I..... but just imagine how we would be feeling tonight if we had gone down with glorious defeat, say 2-1 , lost a couple of players to injury, had someone sent off for a pen, etc etc. valiant effort- far reaching consequences. Having a go at winning a game of football doesn't mean that the players are going to get injured or sent off. This is a ridiculous argument. You might, MIGHT have a point if we weren't devoid of any creativity, attacking impetus or drive to out score teams and WIN games every week. It doesn't matter who we're playing. Was that a tantrum? What makes you think I was thinking about you when I mentioned Tantrums then? edit- I dont beleive we can compete with Man City without a massive fight and effort, that may be more than a point at best is worth. I didn't necessarily think you were talking about me mate, I just didn't think I'd seen any. Imo we can win any game of football on any day with the right preparation, attitude and application. Sometimes you play well and the oppositions just too good for you obviously. Today didn't have to be one of those days. ok, maybe not tantrums, but defo some spat dummies in a couple of threads, but anyway I guess thats why football is so good, it means a lot. I just feel given the season we've had re-injuries and under manned squad for half a season, that todays game cant be viewed in isolation, and a manager must consider the games after. I fully expect us to go into games of this type competing next season, if we still have a full squad/ probs less midweek games. You just know football goes in cycles and im certain we will have our day against Man City when we are in form and they have problems- thats the time to judge us. If we survive and we should, then Pardew gets next season for me, no more excuses tho, time for the shit football to stop, we need to see what this team can do with a pre season, lesser workload. I'm doing the opposite of that and I've said so. Take the last two years as proof, the football has been largely uninspiring, we won more games last season because we were very fortunate with injuries and had two strikers on hot streaks at different times. At worst the football has been diabolical and there's many, many examples of it home and away. I'd rather judge us over time, and Pardew falls way short of what we deserve imo. I honestly think you're going to be disappointed. In fact I'm pretty much positive you are. I and others voiced these concerns last season, when we were getting results and everyone was fit. What the fuck do we "deserve"? Honestly man And I didn't hear anyone whinging last season when we were winning. We as a club, and the supporters, and this squad deserve a manager that can make the team more than the sum of its parts. I don't find that funny at all tbh. I'll go and dig up a few posts from last season if you want? When I've got a bit of spare time.

Due to our predicament I understand people will have an issue with this post but I don't care. Imagine if O'Neill takes them down I mean, we all expected him to fall short of what they expected, but that would just be poetry.

  16. very clearly this, some may think its wrong- I respect thier right to this. I agree fully its the right thing to do, but to be having full on tantrums about is laughable. I haven't seen a tantrum. We just tend to discuss the manager on match day. I'm sure that's preferable to me posting that he's shite in the Pardew thread every single day?
  17. Thought I was the only one who noticed. Fucking hilarious. I genuinely thought I was being wooshed but quoted it anyway.

Beggars belief this like. Our recruitment is the envy of the all the teams in the league that aren't mega rich. We absolutely could attract a better manager than Alan Pardew man, without a doubt. I've no faith in this lot whatsoever to bring in anyone up to the job. It may be a completely baseless opinion but I really do think they would prefer to work with a British manager and we would therefore be stuck with another Pardew clone. I cannot imagine them going out onto the continent and picking up a Laudrop, but I hope I'm wrong. We do it now with players so I really believe that we could with a manager too. Obviously they got massively burnt with Keegan and adjusted their outlook. We need to hope that desire to improve overcomes their fear of another catastrophe.

It's not baseless at all, they've never appointed a foreign manager. edit - and more importantly ability isn't what they're looking for in a manager. which is why we've been lumbered with Pardew.

No he doesn't. He actually got us playing well at times in the last months and we started getting results again. Thing is, he's very focused now on the Europa League and, who can blame him? It's a great chance we have to bring a trophy to SJP finally after all those years. No-one will care if we survive by 1 single point in the league but won the Europa League. Thing also is, that we have two very winnable home games now in a row that should see us getting 6 points and therefore bing absolutely safe. We still haven't been playing that well though. He still hasn't addressed the issue of service to whoever our centre forward is on any given day. It's been a problem all season and not one he looks like he knows how to resolve. The lack of service for Cisse is something I'd totally agree with. Still, to say he should be sacked after losing at the Etihad is over the top. Especially not when you know that he's concentrating on the Euro League and (it seems) on the winnable games in the league. I'm going to say he deserves to be sacked because the team is shit and punching well below it's weight. We're 3 points off the the drop with 7 games to go. Is that fair?
