His (former) club have confirmed it on their website, and there is a leaving interview with him on their TV channel in which he confirms he is looking forward to playing for us and says we are a great club. I'd say it's pretty much a done deal. Debuchy said he was looking forward to see Remy in training the next morning. What's your point?

Fucks sake man, I really like that yellow strip as well.

Which Signing (or Link) are you Most Excited About?

Agree with this. -
It's on the Toulouse site and there's quotes from him saying he's joining. I think we're alreet lads.

Turn the sprinklers on, find the extinguishers.

I hope we're not in for a fucking massive reality check on Tuesday night

you've had your signings you cunts

Think I'll let that RTG thread run for tonight and check it out tomorrow, I imagine it'll be fairly amusing reading.

To be fair to the club, if the deal goes through you've got to praise them for making it happen and not waiting until the summer to save a few quid. I know they're saving the sign on bonus but surely it still would've been cheaper.

Sounds like we're gonna have a really good balance in midfield, exciting times.

Honestly, he's only shooting himself in the foot. Our French players will face superior competition playing in the PL than they would in Ligue 1. He'd be a fool not to capitalize on that. If, of course, it's actually true that he will ignore our French players. He's never ignored Cabaye or Ben Arfa and said nothing about Debuchy, so I'd say its likely this is bull. Then again Deschamps strikes me as a mong so you never know if he might have said it. Either way he's certainly not going to ignore our players. Maybe he just means we might get relegated, he'd have a point.

Despite the stick those at the top get, we clearly have a top notch recruitment team. Hasn't always been the case but we've clearly learned. Apart from when it comes to appointing managers. Actually it's not so much the fact you're getting these players - regardless of your current position, a club like Newcastle should be aiming for this standard of players. I'm just confused why it seems as though no other clubs are aware of all these players going for cheap. It's just bizarre. IIRC didn't you get Cabaye on the cheap without any sort of competition? There's good recruitment, then there's that. Mbiwa pointed out that we were the only club who showed real interest in him. I don't think it's much more complicated or mysterious than that. Carr has proved himself a top notch scout. A scout isn't just for spotting talent, but for having and keeping contacts throughout the world of football that give you an advantage when it comes to recruiting players who are sought-after hot properties. Maybe I've overestimated how saturated the market is. It's just the concept of getting a succession of apparently good players, on the cheap, without any sort of competition. I'm struggling to get my head around it. It's as though no other clubs exist. But then there's Remy, you can't win them all, and if we don't feel there's value in it we just won't do it.

Depends when the value signings are available.

Report says tomorrow

never seen him play, massively excited

I don't particularly care where we get one from, he needs to be replaced with quality though.

Official: Yoan Gouffran signs new contract with Goztepe

I've got no problem with any formation that works. If this lad can run the channels and create the space for Cisse and Debuchy can get forward 4-4-2 might not be that bad. -

Yeah, it does. We've played loads of ineffective long ball shite under Pardew. People misrepresenting certain passes doesn't change that. -

Usually players move out of position to 'accept the spray'. -
That's a good point Dave, we've been useless all season though, no matter who's been on the pitch. Just more bad performances and players like Ba bailing him out again.
-
I understand this point of view, it's going to be pretty difficult to sympathise with if we drop into the bottom three and stay there for a bit though. I really hope we pick up some wins and all talk of relegation is gone but I ran out of faith in Pardew a little while ago.

It's not that, but honestly I had concerns even then. I felt it was our players carrying us a lot of the time. I respect what he did last season but in no way should that excuse the mess of this season. Would you stick by him and see us go down? Some see this season as a continuation of a pattern that ran all the way through our performances last season (with the exception of the winning streak using the abandoned front 3). Some think it's just a manager down on his luck. Then there are those who see it somewhere in between. That's not really saying much for him though imo, in between bad team performances and luck.
