Off the pitch? Carragher is a family man through and through and can often be seen on sunny afternoons taking his kids for a bike ride along the river front. He's as ordinary as anyone and you don't hear of him in the clubs or causing trouble anywhere. Aye. He's a good lad. He keeps injuring people on purpose to the training pitch, and stops his rambunctious, cheeky buddies from taking out a fellow professional. He stands by what he said but that was a personal thing between him and the guy in question. don't try and defend the comments in his book for gods sake, you'll end up looking as stupid as him.

I know people complain about our lack of depth in central defence, but we've got 3 fairly competent players fighting for 2 spots in Colo, Taylor and Williamson. I would think most clubs bench strength will be pretty similar. Kadar would have been a good 4th option a year ago but I'm not sure what's happened to him since. Perch isn't ideal as a last resort but how many clubs have good 4th options in that area? 'Perch isnt ideal' is far too kind. When you get past the top 4 I'll guess probably not many. i didnt answer it because i agree with you fwiw, as it happens though Williamson in injured and we're reet in the shit if Perch has to start at centre back,no way can we function as a defence with Raylor and Perch, all i'm saying.

In terms of squad strength mind I'm still shitting myself in anticipation of an injury to Saylor or less likely Colo,we'd be in for a very difficult few games. Any news on Williamson btw?

I'm not saying he's mint on he's day he's worse than useless . I'm saying people celebrating injury is less than pathetic. i agree, you've also said people are using him as a scapegoat and that fans should boo players they don't think are very good.

There's criticising a player, and then there's shit like this... i'm not here to speak on michael or anyone else's behalf, i was speaking for myself and never said anything about the injury but HV still had a problem with my criticism

Well what's the point? If you're not willing to express it beyond your keyboard. there's so many holes in this i don't know where to start. first of all i never celebrated his injury, i merely said he shouldnt be starting anyway, so you can count me out of that. secondly, while he is mostly useless he does show the odd glimpse of something, and he tends to score against the mackems. being that confidence and pyschology is important in the game i think it's worth starting him against the mackems, he'll feel he's likely to score which will improve confidence and they'll be thinking that too, which diminishes theirs. that's a special case though. i'll gladly tell anyone and everyone my opinions on him, but i wouldnt boo him during a game or any of our players for that matter. that would only serve to decrease his confidence and chances of doing well. i dont WANT him to do badly, i just don't think the chances are good given the evidence.

you could look at it the other way and say he's received more criticism as a result of being here much longer than any of them, but what does that tell you. he's spent the majority of his career looking clueless with the odd flash of talent.

No he doesn't. That's my biggest problem with him. You really think Shola doesn't give 2 smacks what he does in the shirt? Hes limited by his own size and is clearly playing with too much muscle that his body/bones have not been able to cope with, which is affecting his play (imo). Questioning his effort on the pitch is a bit naive. I'm in no way saying he should be starting or getting a game off the bench, but I think slagging him in this manner is over-the-top. It looks to me that he really doesn't give a damn. I can live with him being s*** in general, because he have been his entire career, but when he - as mind blowing as it is - starts games for Newcastle in 2011, I at least expect him to honor his undeserved time on the pitch by giving his best performance. The last few games have been an absolute joke. Work your ass off and play s***, then fine, but when you are just going to stroll around with your head up your ass looking like you're having the worst time of your life, GTFO! And take Ryan Taylor with you. learning how to stay onside would be a decent improvement.
