Tbf most people predicted Lee would fail as they did Souness. Bolton went with the cheap option as we did with Roeder although its no surprise for them as they have always been a cheap club who couldn't attract much better where as we..... no, you are re-writing history. Gartside was said by a few people to be superior to Shepherd, because he ran a good club with a good plan, didn't make panic buys, didn't make badly timed managerial appointments etc etc etc so your point is they've both made mistakes? i'd agree. that one fact doesnt mean the last regime was good for the club though, far from it. seems like you're just clutching at straws now, and the way you jump on every bit of news possible and try to twist it into shepherds favour is becoming quite frankly, obsessive, he's gone man, move on, mrs shepherd. poor response. For simply pointing out a few facts, that don't suit some people. eh? i dont understand mate, are you or aren't you trying to make the point that shepherd cant have been so bad, because gartside made a bad appointment? its a yes or no answer its not any sort of answer, nor is it meant to be. I'm simply pointing out the idiocy of those who thought that anyone but Shepherd would have been better for Newcastle. Are you - and others - trying to make out that Shepherd was so bad, simply because he made a s**** appointment in Souness [while running a club that qualified for europe more than any other club bar 4] ? Surely not. I presume you also thought that anyone but Shepherd would have been better for the club when we qualified for the Champions League, reached 2 FA Cup Finals, and achieved the highest 3 consecutive league finishes for 50 years ? Unless of course you disagree with this and can prove it to be incorrect. for the sake of evereyone elses sanity i'm just gonna give up and leave you to your opinion -

Poor tackle, though. It was, and worth the yellow too, still annoyed me Rooney's had a poor start, he's misplaced just about every pass. How long before he clatters someone out of frustration and gets sent off then? Dunno but he's scored a belter. Great work from our Michael. cracking leap, looked like oba -
nufc fans proving once again that we dont really deserve him, you'll be crying out for him in february to play 1 game in 3 when martins keeps rounding the keeper

Its been the total opposite the last few games though, Owen had been s*** all game then oba came on and set up winners and scored goals, but i don't agree with the statement as oba was dangerous today. As for Owen today he was ok but he made no effort to run had sokme dodgy touches etc, he is good but his intentions are questionnable, for me it was all emre when he came on. But oba was a danger all game, and they didn't really have much of an answer to his pace, (what was with the booing when he came off???) That's a bizarre statement really. Dodgy touches??? You must be some player. I thought oba was decent today but owen is/was on a different plane. He looks a 17m pound player and i'm for one is pleased he's here. yep, unfortunately this sort of attitude towards owen is becoming rampant among our fans, its just blind criticism and from what i can tell it has very little to do with what actually happens on the pitch. i'll repeat, i'm a fan of martins, and no i dont think its about owen vs martins, but lets face it sam's not gonna play them together and for me of the two owen has to play when fit, martins as a super sub -

Owen looked class for the limited time he was on the pitch, my guess is that the booing was because of Martins coming off, I thought Smith should have come off. Was it not the Everton fans booing Owen? no, there was definite booing directed at martins leaving the pitch from our fans i thought it was booing directed at sam for taking martins off thats what i meant, badly worded -

i have to add along side my other comments that its nice to see martins running into channels this season, i think he'll get success if he keeps that up -

I thought Faye had a good game which he spoiled himself with his grappling, no way were they 50-50. He was penalised once or twice for nothing but I think the ref was just expecting him to pull in the end, try watching him later on. hmm, ok, at the end of the day though if we're up against a team like everton you've gotta expect your centre halves to put a physical shift in for you and i thought he was superb, tbh the ref was at fault more than faye was, i'm not one to often stereotypically slag the ref, but he had an absolute stinker -

just got back, enrique was solid enough, looks hard to beat, although he had a few 'continental' moments where he wanted to much time but thats to be expected. faye was fucking class, i dont care what people say about free kicks, it was 50-50 all day and he won more of them, smith had a good game, put himself about and held the ball up well at times, most importantly, if owen is fit, owen plays, i'm a fan of martins but i'm sorry like, they are worlds apart in quality, owen created more in 15 minutes than oba did in 75, his build up play is superb and i just cant understand people who say anything else, i can only comment on what i see on the pitch and consistently that is owen finding good positions, keeping the ball and finding an opponent, fuck the haters -
? Well, you listed two players he's signed who are young plus Smith who's 27, and then there's Rozenhal so I thought you refuted your own argument rather nicely re: the stupid transfer policy of the manager. As well as somewhat writing off the much needed experience that the other signings added to the backline. We only have three young, promising defenders in my opinion. You were talking about Allardyce's transfer policy though and his only being interested in signing players with 2 or 3 years left in them. Clearly not true. OK, I shouldn't have said only, but we need young players. Roeder and Robson both knew that. oh dear

Coulden't agree more. Scapegoat tastic really, he was no good against Derby but he wasn't any worse than most of the others. Owen and Shola were starved of service by our zero creativity against Derby. Roze was probably our worst player that night, as although impressed with him getting forward well, that night he missed an absolute sitter, let Howard have no fewer than 6 good headers at our goal (thank god he has poor aim), plus him and cacapa missed the header that led to their goal. But yes lets all have a go at Shola instead. Shola missed one decent chance which the only one he had all game! He did no worse than Owen etc Again i am not saying Ameobi is brilliant, far from it he's been poor in his two starts (as viduka was in his first 3), just this is way over the top. Regarding the other game he played in Arsenal Ameobi is no LW same as Smith is no RW yet thats more down to Sam than them if they do not produce anything of note from these positions. Viduka has been s*** against Bolton, Villa & Boro (bar his goal) and Wigan i missed. Must Say brilliant in his last game V WH lets hope he can keep it up. dear me
