  1. Well, I don't like to generalise but...All Man Utd fans are thick. Re: NRC - I don't see why anyone would want to pay £8m for a player who has spent the last season playing at 80% despite captaining a side in a relegation battle. He might as well have spent the last season wearing a big sandwich board saying "Please dont sign me".
  2. Never mind that last one...I've just searched his posts, can't find anything negative. Must be thinking of someone else posts about him, or his posts about someone else. PS:
  3. FM? no - i'm pretty sure I didn't get this guy's name from FM. I didn't come up with the stat"34 goals from 31 games" from a virtual world you know. but with that kind of record i will look for him in FM. no he was on the soccernet website http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=432875&root=england&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab4pos1&cc=3436 Look under Man City. If they have a chance to get him - I'm sure we have. I've heard of him Linked with him back in the January transfer window. Some points... 1) That was then, this is now. Since then he has carried on scoring bajillions of goals and has just made the Brazil squad. I think that moves him up a notch in terms of getability. 2) I don't believe he qualifies for a work permit. 3) There is a poster on the City forum I use who is a Heerenveen fan (Legacy of the Samaras transfer). Obviously he had an opinion on this story, and altho he thinks Alves is great he said he doesn't think he's cut out for the premiership. Never seen him myself so wouldn't know, but the same guy said Samaras wasn't ready so...I'm inclined to go with him. PS: For the FM players, and lazy soccernet hacks, Its not Alfonso, its Afonso [/pedant]
  4. Not blind, sensible. Jenas has just had a very good season and played well yesterday and Downing is the only out and out left winger weve got and banged in 2 goals yesterday. Harsh on Barry though. Suppose he could have been selected over P Neville I only watched the first half last night, and I thought the two players mentioned were utter wank, and Barry was the best player on the pitch. Would easily be above those two for me. blueyes.gif
  5. I don't like him personally. Used to, but he was far too eager to adapt to Mourinho's Chelsea vs Gravity policy for my tastes. He's a decent player tho, but nowt special IMO. Good footballer but no pace and I don't think he's particularly good in front of goal, missed his fair share of sitters in his time. He's never good enough for Barcelona, I don't know what they were thinking when they bought him. Was never good enough for Chelsea since they moved up from challenging for 4th to challenging for 1st, and I don't think he's anywhere near good enough for Manure, I think a club floating around 6th is about his level, someone like Everton actually. Spurs, Newcastle, etc.
  6. Phil Neville? Was McClaren watching the game last night? On a similar topic...Gareth Barry omitted for Downing, Jenas? WTF? Is he fucking blind? Re; Beckham. Of course he shouldn't have been picked. He's been a negative influence on England performances for 5 years with his inability to get anywhere near the byline, keep the shape or use possession intelligently. But if this decision speeds up the exit of Spineless McSmirky...
  7. Do you not think that its more a case of him being out so long, he's spent too much time in the gym, put on too much weight and that has affected his pace? I think once he plays a bit more, some of that bulk will disappear and he'll be a lot sharper.
  8. Houllier doesn't tick any of the boxes of what I'm looking for. I'm of the mind that even with a whole load of money we're still a long, long way from competing for honours. I'm looking for other qualities than just going for whoever has got the most pots in his cupboard. Houllier played ugly, counter attacking football. I don't want that. He spunked a load of money on a load of shite - Biscan, Traore, Cheyroux, etc. I don't want that. And he didn't do much of job with the young players. Gerrard, Carragher, came thru (And I thought the latter was very ordinary under his management), nowt else. We've got some good kids, I want someone with a track record of looking after them. Ranieri is definetly my #1 choice, failing him, probably someone from the continent. I don't follow enough european footie to know everyone with a similar record to Ranieri. See a lot of names trotted out - Le Guen, Adrianse, etc, but I don't really know enough about them. So, short answer, if not CR - Dunno Weren't you keen on Paul Simpson a while back? I surely was. But that was before there was takeover on the horizon. I'd happily take him if it all falls thru, we'll need someone with experience of managing in the championship...

  10. Better than "messing" with a player. Like one particular manager who I'm obviously not going to name allegedly did once upon a time.
  11. Houllier has such a impressive CV. Would be a fantastic appointment for Manchester City certainly an improvement on Stuart Pearce. Gerard Houllier's CV would be an improvement over Stuart Pearce. Wouldn't annoy me as much on the touchline at least. Don't want him here btw.
  12. I can see where you're coming from. But I don't think there is anything special about Sven in particular that sets him apart from other candidates with similar qualities. The big plus - his ability to attract names - I don't think will matter much. He's never going to get quality England players like Gerrard to come to City, and I couldn't give a rats arse about the fringe players like Jenas and Phil Chuckle. I think Ranieri is a better candidate than Sven, 3 main reasons set him apart for me. 1 - Good guy. No witch hunt. 2 - Good football. Which we are asbolutely desperate for above all else 3 - Good record in transfer market.
  13. Only club thank you... Secondly, I don't believe for a second that their will be anything other than a media circus following his every move. I don't want that. Thirdly, the ideal man for me is Ranieri, I can bore you with why I think that is if you're interested, but I'd be interested to know why you think Sven is ideal...
  14. Agreed. We weren't good enough for him a few days ago, the fickle cunt I ain't having this: Bollox Svennis. Don't want you anyway. You wouldn't be happy with Sven?? Well, he wouldn't be by top choice, not by a long way. I'm aware of his CV, and I think he's a quality manager. However there is too much baggage. The mass media definetly hates him and would constantly try and stick the knife into him and City. On top of that a fair chunk of City fans will have made their mind up on him from his time with England and won't back him, which I think will have a negative effect. Then there's the side issues such as massive wages, chance of signing shite old Engerland favourites such as Heskey, and the danger he'll try and nob Bernado Corradi's significantly better half. I'd take him before I'd take any of the available British managers tho.
  15. He's a very good player. He's alright? But £11.5m? It'll cost Spurs more than that to buy all the sticky tape they'll need to keep his gimpy knees falling apart. Re; Berbatov. £39m Wouldn't that make him the 2nd most expensive player ever? Come off it...he isn't that good. And not only is he worth nowhere near that much, I also struggle to see how Manure could afford to pay £27m. Can't imagine their accounts are particularly healthy considering how they're raping their fans wallets at the mo.
  16. You seem to be forgetting something quite important: Harry Redknapp is a two-faced liar. Wouldn't rule it out just yet. PS: Yes, he is.
  17. Agreed. We weren't good enough for him a few days ago, the fickle cunt I ain't having this: Bollox Svennis. Don't want you anyway.
  18. Didn't the previous shirt sponsors of Man Citeh go bankrupt? And Thomas Cook stepped in with a deal that's probably not worth the same as the original deal. Same as Charlton where AllSports went bankrupt and Llanera stepped in, they probably would've gotten a worse deal from their second choice sponsor. Yes they did. But their was no desperate panic to replace them as we played out the season with the defunct sponsor on our shirts. I think we just got a bum deal cos no-one cares about us outside of Manchester.
  19. JFT10seconds. I thought he was alone with the three he had before this one... Raul '98, '00, '02. Di Stefano and all of that crew will have several, as will Maldini. Roberto Carlos, Ivan Campo (!), Hierro...I'm sure there are plenty of old timey Liverpool players too. It was just the one example

  21. Congratulations to AC "7 times" Milan. I'd offer my sympathies to Liverpool, but I'm sure they must have the Samaritans in Norway.
  22. Inzaghi...I still think you're shite, but, what a fucking legend. PS: Pennant, still absolute toss.
  23. Continually wasting crossing opportunties != Being one of the best players on the pitch.
  24. Filipo Inzaghi - I think you're absolutely fucking shite and I've got no idea how you're still playing at this level, but, I love you man PS: Pennant and Zenden, absolute toss.
