  1. I've been really turned round on him of late. I thought he was shite early on, absolutely nothing player...but he seems to have found himself 2nd half of the season. Always came across as being totally lethargic, never leaving the centre circle but the ammount of times he's gotten forward as increased out of sight as far as I can tell. Not really like Keane or another DM at all...seems to be playing more like Scholes IMO (Nowhere near as good tho).
  2. i think that was played a massive part - combine it with the socalled honeymoon period, and maybe that fact that roeder had shearer keeping the lads in line - and we have the difference over this season... i'd love to see shearer manage this club someday. there is no reason why keano can do the job and shearer cannot. but right now i dont really know what our best option would be... Good or even great players don't always become good or great managers. Exactly, I can think of Cruyff being an exception to the ruling at the very top of both ends, but I'm struggling to think of anyone else at the moment. Stuart Pearce certianly isn't. Had the same hooneymoon period as Roeder/Shearer when he first took over but once the dust settled and he had to make a rod for his own back, make his own decisions on transfers and tactics... Never appoint a manager on the basis of a caretaker period IMO. Too many other factors that interfere with the judgement of how good a job he's doing. Players happy to be away from the old boss, they're managing someone elses team, in no-pressure short term job...Just not cricket.
  3. "Attack of the 50p Headed Striker!" "50 ways to head a football in random directions." "This isn't an excuse because everyone knows we don't make excuses, but Antione Sibierski was playing." Or something along those lines. IMO.
  4. Me The talk about Allardyce has died down. 3 reasons. 1. Other things to talk about 2. Nothing in the papers of late about him coming here. 3. Takeover speculation has moved firmly away from Ray Ranson towards Thaksin Shinawatra, and the word is he wants a top european coach for the job.
  5. How has it gone down? That zebra stripey dealie on the side looks minging IMO. City's kit not out for a while. All I know is, Le Coq.
  6. Sylvain Distin is not a lump. He is an intelligent, classy performer. He has picked up the grand total of one card this season - Booked at Reading - And that was only from when Leroy Lita went down like a complete sissy holding his face after a perfectly legitimate arm across the chest. You've got it the wrong way round...Richard Dunne is a lump, and he compliments Distin well in the main. Can Taylor learn to be as good a lump as Richard Dunne? :parky:

  8. Uh huh. Luque for Kone. Would you like some magic beans with that?
  9. Hyypia - Nonononononono. No. He might only be 33 but he's been a near ever present in Liverpool's team for getting on for 7 years, and with the amount of games they've played in Europe and the cups during recent times...what, 60+ games a season, there's a whole load of miles in those legs. I bet he can barely walk nowadays. I just look at Hamann - he's only a couple of months older than Hyypia and he is well fucked...for us he usually does absolutely nothing but do a crap job of chasing shadows for an hour then comes off so out of puff his lungs are pouring out of his nostrils. Abysmal signing for us, can't help but feel Hyypia will be the same for whatever mug wants him. IMO, stay well clear - he is more than likely finished.
  10. I'm suprised Clarence Seedorf's name hasn't come up yet. I've always liked him but he normally seems to be one of the leading contenders for this dubious honour whenever this topic gets a mention. People been turned around by the performances against Manure? Or has he just been forgotten and will now make everyone who posts after this' top 3.
  11. No he shouldn't. I'm of this opinion purely because I want him to play to give Milan a better chance of winning. kthxbye.
  12. 3 goals against that lot? Says he wants to play in the premiership? Don't know why he needs to arse about with all these smoke and mirrors about the semis of the champions league, he might as well come out and say what he's really thinking: "MCFC, come and get me"
  13. 1. Wayne Rooney 2. Frank Lampard 3. Ryan Giggs
  14. Dabo: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/graphics/2007/05/03/sfnmac03.jpg I gather he's left the country. And I guess the dibble want to go thru some overly long investigation process first, chance for the Chief Inspector to get on the telly a bit and whatnot...
  15. Sylvain Distin is the in the top 4 centre halves outside the top 4 of the premiership. In the premiership. IMO. If that makes sense. (The other 3 are King, Yobo and Campbell, what order you wanna put em in is meh) Yobo is a good player but Lescott is a lot better. I like Lescott a lot too. But he is new to the league and has spent a lot of time at full back. Personally I don't feel its right to suggest he's better than guys who have been consistently playing well at centre half over a long period in the same way I don't feel right accepting that Woodgate is better than the consistently excellent Distin based on hearsay over his performances for 20 something games.
  16. Some things to consider here before you burn me at the stake for being a heathen Woodgate not-rater. 1. I've seen Distin a lot. And I think he's quality. 2. I didn't see Woodgate play for Newcastle - Which I gather was the time he was at the peak of his powers. 3. I did see Woodgate play for Leeds. Never really stood out to me when he did get himself on the pitch. 4. Saw Woodgate play for Real (Eventually). Looked a bit shit at times altho he had his moments. 5. Seen Woodgate play for Boro (and England) this season. Nothing special. Its a game of opinions isnt it...and you can only go of what you see. While everyone else here might remember seeing some tremendous performances from his Newcastle days, I don't. Don't remember anything from him there other than pulling up near the corner against Chelsea and that was that. So from what I've seen of both players, I think Distin is a better player than Woodgate.
  17. Sylvain Distin is the in the top 4 centre halves outside the top 4 of the premiership. In the premiership. IMO. If that makes sense. (The other 3 are King, Yobo and Campbell, what order you wanna put em in is meh) Woodgate? Not for me. But whatever, thats the sort of company I would put Distin in.

  19. Elaborate please? I could do with a laugh at their expense and the "Kaka 5-3 Cack" pun I just read will only last me for a few more chuckles
  20. Wasn't far off! Milan, you fucking beauties. Now come on Chelsea, lets turn this treble into a distinctly City-esque fuck all
  21. Can't believe I'm missing it. Sounds like theyre getting absolutely gubbed. Of all the times I've sat thru these cunts churning out easy win after easy win, the one time I can't get Sky is tonight. FFS. Still, Forza Milan. I'm behind you in spirit if not in waheying every pass on the telly
  22. Forza!!! Shame I can't watch it tho. Kaka, 3 goals in the tie...blatantly a City fan. First signing if a bajillionaire buys us out
  23. If Stuart Pearce can't, who can? Someone competent.
  24. He's got a big Citeh tattoo on his leg, so I doubt it. Myth AFAIK. Was a City supporter growing up for sure, but I think this tattoo thing was just born out of someone looking for a reason he always wears long sleeve shirts. For what its worth, I don't think many footballers "support" a club. I imagine that once they turn pro, that feeling we all have of wanting our team to win is replaced...altho they will probably have a special place in their heart for the team they supported as a boy. The only exception to this I know is Paul Scholes, who goes to watch Oldham with his kid, and even that is probably not so much support as it is responsible parenting, ie. making sure his son supports someone proper instead of growing up to be a wanker.
