Yep, even before he went to City IIRC. I can see Liverpool doing it again this year. Going to City ? He played for City on loan at the tail end of the 03/04 season. If memory serves he only played 5 or so games. We conceeded 4 to Manure in one of them, and he got sent off in another (wrongly, Alan Smith the diving little cunt), but produced a fantastic display in one of the others that causes almost every single City fan to look back on his time here extremely fondly (I think it was against Birmingham). Unfortunately he did his achilles before he could make a real impact and was never seen again. Marseille wanted £2.5m for us to sign him permenantly, we didn't stump up the cash so he went to Hamburg instead. And as is always the case when you don't sign injury prone players (see Woodgate, J), they go on to be completely injury free out of spite and 2 years later he's at Bayern Munich. Boat well and truly missed. He was seriously linked with everyone including Newcastle back in the day, but they wanted silly money for him at one point (£15m or so). We only got him (in a swap loan deal for David Sommeil) cos he fell out with the coach or some such...but the cream rises to the top. Not suprised at all to see him playing at this level now.
-
Nigel Worthington converted him cos he has no goalscoring ability. Championship player anyway.
-
Quality, quality player. £2.5m in the summer of '04, he would have been playing for City. But KK had already spunked all our cash on a load of shite Liverpool are gonna win it btw. No-one else has stamped their authority on the cup like they have tonight and in Barcelona (Apart from perhaps Roma in Lyon, who I still have hope for...).

Alan Shearer of 96 to 1/5/2004. Nuff said. Always one of my favourite players right from the start of his career. Outstanding player, had a habit of sticking it up that lot...what more can you want. Phillipe Albert. Remember the game he scored against us twice at Maine Road when we were on the way to going down, memories mainly based on that (great) game, and that chip over Schmiechel. Quality. Peter Beardsley, class act. Cole/Beardsley one of the best partnerships I can remember. Shite by the time he signed for City tho.

Alan Shearer 04-06. Played on too long, didn't like the way he tried to make up for being past it with his elbows and whinging at refs. Not that he was especially bad, I just thought it was tragedy that such a great player was dragged down to playing like Geoff Horsefield or some other clogger. I found it very disappointing. David Batty. Crab. Don't like crabs. Jonathan Woodgate. Always thought it was ridiculous that people hold him in such high regard but most people wouldn't piss on Lee Bowyer if he was on fire, despite the verdicts in that trial. Always thought he was overrated too (Hardly ever saw him play for Newcastle tho, thats based on his Leeds days)
-
Next year. Shame, I like him for some reason.
-
Recent stories linking Distin with a £40k/w deal at Fulham(!) There's also Ball and Mpenza but they're not going anywhere
-
Friedel is an excellent goalie. But I wouldn't put him anywhere near the top...I think this is probably one of the best things about the otherwise overrated "best league in the world". Almost every time has a great goalie. There are some who aren't that hot - Howard, Robinson, Hahnemann, van der Sar () but even they aren't that bad. Honestly I bet if you asked every fan in the league to name the top 5 goalies, most would name their own as one of them. And it wouldn't be that rediculous for them to do so. Cos they're all great. Especially Isaksson ^-^

When Dyer plays in the centre of midfield he has a tendancy to leave huge gaps and we can become overrun. Not many would agree with me but I've always felt Dyer on the right wing is best for the team. I think Emre is going to be harder to replace than people realise. Ya I see what you mean, I'm not saying that Dyer in the middle is the best thing possible - I just think that is what will happen given how much money is likely to be available and how much needs spending on the defense. I just don't think chucking millions at Barton or Arteta or Nasri or anyone is feasable unless you want to see a whole lot more of Stephen Carr.
-
This Nasri name is really familiar. I'm sure this was the fella who was linked to a loan move to City back last summer. 25 million euros...jeebus...looks like we missed the boat there...its Luis Figo all over again? And is your new AM not going to be Dyer? Return of Owen pushes him away from the forward line, and the holes in your defense is going to lead to a hole in the transfer budget....seems the likely solution to me...?

I don't think this bit is true. He was absolutely desperate for the England job and recently made a pretty poor attempt to distance himself from rumours linking him to the City job. Quote: "If Stuart Pearce was to leave and Manchester City were to make an official approach, who knows?". I'm absolutely 1000000000% sure he wants a bigger job. I've also heard its "common knowledge" around Bolton that he's taking the Newcastle job in the summer but I tend not to believe any of this ITK shite.
-
This is another April Fools thing right? Right?
-
Stuart Pearce thinks that he can do two jobs at once. Stuart Pearce thinks that Georgios Samaras is a winger. Stuart Pearce thinks Nicky Weaver is a better goalie than Andreas Isaksson. Stuart Pearce thinks the way to beat Blackburn is to use the same system we played when they mullered us. If he thinks you can get sucked into it, I'd be sleeping a little easier. Cos he is thick.

Relegation is fucking shite. Coming back up is ace, a little taste of what its like for all the clubs at the top who win every week. No guartentees that would happen to Newcaslte tho, I don't think any established club can come straight back up unless they keep all their best players. Given some of the wages being taken out of SJP every week (Duff, £100k ish?) I don't think that would happen for you, so I don't think you would be back any time soon. Not the best idea!

"Now everyone knows I don't make excuses but that Chicken has had 10 feathers out at times this season, no manager could have done a better job trying to get it across the road than me, but when the little pedestrian crossing light guy is on red its hard work waiting for them to change and that frustrates fans, that affected him today, but make no mistake, in next the transfer window I'll be looking at bringing in 2 or 3 new feathers cos I'm having to work with other peoples here and I can't be judged on that..." I'd do one for Stuart Pearce but no-one here would get the "cute" or "this football club" references...

Didn't watch it, not really followed it...busy busy busy... I'll wind me neck in and avoid too much crowing but obviously pleased to get the 3 points, given us a bit of daylight ahead of Wigan and Sheffield United even if West Ham and Charlton keep winning. Locals not sounding too chuffed so it sounds like we a decent job altho I doubt we could have played that well. Have to watch it on football first. PS: Shearer's replacement eh ^-^ PPS: All posters calling for Roeder's head, No manager ever gets the sack at this time of the season, unless theyre on the slippery slope to the trapdoor which you aint. You're in the same boat as us, wait until the summer.
-
From the initial article: He doesn't have only a year left on his contract. The media said the same about Heinze when we were all being linked to him, despite that not being true either. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/3709464.stm

If anyone here can name the last player to score a hattrick against Manchester City I'll eat my hat*. Doesn't happen. Won't happen. Too good at the back. *note: not really. I like my hat. Michael Owen scored a hat trick against City once http://news.bbc.co.uk/sportacademy/hi/sa/football/features/newsid_2288000/2288486.stm Was it a serious question? ...Is the correct answer. No-one has scored a hattrick against us since September '02 - Keep your money in your pockets. I wouldn't have bet against Owen doing it as he always scores against us(His movement is too good for Dunne). Was getting a bit nervous about his comeback but it looks we've dodged the bullet. PS: There will be no hat eating. 1) read the fine print. and 2) You cheated (Obviously wrote hat-trick against man city" into google). Altho I have a funny feeling my overconfidence on this matter will be leading to humble pie eating.
-
Pffft. You're doing it all wrong...If you're going to dismiss my suggestion its supposed to be done via the medium of a posting a pic of a superior model ^-^ PS: Mrs Z > Mrs R. Skin and bones.
-
Manager: That tea lady. The one who came into Graeme Souness' press conference. That was surreal.

I prefer this pic. http://sportsbybrooks.com/valentinaliguori3.jpg Don't know what he sees in her...

I was absolutely convinced he was going to score in the reverse fixture after the stick I'd given him had been thrown back in my face when he played against Estonian postmen every other week...But since then, my opinion of his shiteness has been recornfirmed...so I'm convinced we'll keep him out. Therefore he's certain to score.
