Haven't had one of these in a while, but since summer is coming...
Dr Spectrum replied to a topic in Football
Pfft, why spend £2-3m on a right back when you could have Danny Mills for nowt! -
Seen this before, didn't really pay much attention to it as its so flawed... We crumbled 3-0, but if we would have taken the lead we would have gone onto lose 3-1? We've won every single game we've taken the lead in this season...Never mind back to the future, anyone who knows anything about football can see this is flawed to the core, there's no thought as to how these incidents would have affected the game. Would be so much better if there was more than 5 seconds thought put into each game and they had tried to have worked out what would have happened. (EG: City 1-0 Blackburn, Newcastle 2-3 Villa). Not to mention some of the descions they claim are wrong, were clearly right (Tried to claim Johnson didn't dive when we played Everton ).

Any Manchester City win in the derby. Or, more appropiately, One i don't think has been mentioned that I'll throw into the mix - Barcelona 3-2 Valencia - When Rivaldo scored a long range overhead kick in the last minute to complete a hattrick and qualify his team for the champions league. That was Orgasmic. Every great game needs a last minute decider! RE: a few other games that have been mentioned. City 4-3 Spurs game, I thought it was great in the end but the first half was horrible, I'm not sure that qualifies. Best 45 minutes ever tho. And, the Brazil-England 1970 Game, that was repeated in its entirety on TV one sunday night a couple of years back. Watched it all...I'm firmly in the it was utter, utter shite camp. I know it was hot but the game was played at such a slow pace - boring as fook!

Link Yes 176 Votes No 223 Votes Somehow I doubt its really him: "I became first choice right-back at the start of the 2006/07 season because there was no one else avalible, but because of the form and performances of fellow defender Andrew Davies, the gay haired puff, i have lost my place in the starting line-up My current future remains in doubt, as my current contract expires at the end of the season and smackhead Xaiver has returned from his ban, and will easily replace me."

Parma. Comes from back when I was young and impressionable, and Italian football was on the telly. I loved that yellow/blue thing they had going on back in the day. Had some class players too - Zola, Cannavaro... From other countries, Barcelona, and Hibernian. Not really been exposed to enough domestic footy from other countries to pick one.

IMO, Arsenal have never recovered from that game that they lost their long unbeaten run at Old Trafford. Gary Neville kicked Reyes off the pitch (He's been shite since), and the rest of them took a load of bruises home too. I don't think they've looked half as good since...they all act like babies every time they get a kick, consistently get beat every time they head north...Never come close to winning the premiership since, I don't think they will for a good while yet. I'm not sure booting the fook out of the opposition qualifies as being "tactically astute" or if it fits in the whole psychology bracket but Taggart deserves some credit for ending that period of Arsenal dominance. Still an overrated chequebook manager bully tho

Today must be a very difficult day for you, Dr. Well, ya they won well, but they weren't playing anyone that great, and they were involved in a whole load of bother for the 3rd straight european game (Bloody italian police eh?), and it was on the back of 2 defeats last week. Could be worse.

Krustiano Ronaldo is not the best player I've ever seen. He is not even the best player named Ronaldo. He's the Phil Neville of Ronaldos.

Anyone but Manchester United vs anyone but Liverpool.

3rd manager to lose their job immediately after losing to City in the past 15 months.... We're not that bad...

Only need 3 to go thru on away goals...Not over yet! Seriously tho, I hope these cunts get an escort home from the Roman police. Embarasment. >

Whew....lets get tucked into this.... Hardly anyone down here agrees with me but Distin is better than Dunne IMO. While Richard Dunne has a LOT of very good games but when the wheels come off...ehm....can be interesting - Henri Camara consistently tears him a new one and he seems to conceed a calimitaous OG every season. Everyone here thinks the sun shines of Dunne's arse tho...He's probably going to win the player of the year award for the 3rd straight season. I can see the asking price for him being far higher than it really should be due to his popularity so I wouldn't bother speculating about signing him unless you want to pay silly money. On the other hand Distin makes nowhere near as many mistakes, doesn't struggle when he's being turned around as Dunne sometimes does (While Dunne is a lot quicker than he you would think he is not agile and he is not quick off the mark). Shame he's off, its the CB best partnership we've had in my time supporting City. Another thing that I think would be relevant, when Distin picked up a knock earlier in the season, and Dunne had to lead the defense with Richards under his wing - We lost 4-0 to Wigan and Dunne scored an OG. When Dunne picked up a knock a couple of years back and missed a few weeks, Distin played with Nedum Onuoha as his partner and we were great (That would have been in the unbeaten run Pearce had as caretaker), altho tbf Onuoha is probably a better CB than Richards. Distin has hardly ever played LB for us, maybe once or twice if someone has picked up a knock but never consistently over any period. He's a centre back, end of. Why he chose us in the first place, not sure, I'm sure there was hardly any difference in the wage packets, maybe £5k or so...but we were a newly promoted side and you were in the champions league, it seems like a no brainer to chose you, unless he really didn't want to play LB consistently... I won't dignify the Titus Bramble comment with a response. And ya, Dunne is the captain now. Was Distin from 03-06 but Pearce changed it. Not sure why, I think its because Pearce prefers similar characters to himself.

My experience of derby matches has always been as the poor relation so that view might not make sense to some but if I was a Newcastle fan, yes. There's nowt like winning a derby. Even if there is a risk of losing, so what, in football you've got to take the rough with the smooth, and when that danger is there it makes victory all the sweeter. However, from a City POV, no. I think they are capbable of staying up if Niall Quinn's mates have enough cash, I'd rather someone shite that had no chance of survival came up.

Not followed the games today but just seen the scores...won nicely and we've cracked the 40 point barrier...wahey. I think thats us safe now.

Definetly the goalies fault. Gotta be a shout. And he fucked up for the first goal too, and in midweek. What a star mackems.gif

Pass played behind the defence, Rio passes it back to vdS...who had already run out to intercept the original ball. Rio's reaction was quality. He just turned and walked back to get ready for the kickoff before the ball had even reached the goal...he looked like he wanted to murder vdS. Absolutely fkn priceless mackems.gif

Got a feeling van der Sar won't be getting an Easter Egg from Rio in the morning. mackems.gif Come on the Chelsea.

Peter Beagrie??!?! Overrated?!?! Wash your keyboard out with soap young man > Kinkladze was class. Suffered from being made the focal point of the team...stop Kinkladze, stop City, which many team were more than capable of by giving the lad a proper kicking, especially in the 1st division. Wasn't a winger tho. If you're gonna expand it to all attackin midfield types - David Rocastle. Seems everyone becomes ten times better than they were after they die (Eg George Best is the 3rd best player ever), and he's been given loads of praise by all the old Arsenal boys in the media since he died...but he was a nothing player for City. I hate Andrei Kanchelskis (Once scored a hattrick against us in the derby, the cunt) but he was a class player.

Antoine Sibierski is good in the air.

Sturridge has made a couple of appearances so far. Made his debut a couple of months back against Reading, but we're not really in a position to be blooding a striker and he's disappeared from the first team picture for the moment with the arrival of Mpenza. Still looking alright tho, all the tabloid sites like Fans FC and co. were running a story that Barcelona wanted him a few weeks back As they say...Necessity is the mother of invention...when you've got no money you've got little choice than give the kids a go. We've been very, very, very lucky that we've got some quality in the youth teams. Barton, Ireland, Richards, Onuoha all established first team players, Johnson and Sturridge on the fringes...without them we'd be heading the way of Leeds IMO - When they went down they had a load of mercenaries in on loan (Roque Jr?), I think we would be in a similar position without youngsters to fill in the cracks. Shame that the one who lives down the road from me, Ishmael Miller, is shite, but you can't win em all...might be able to get a few quid for him like we did with BWP, Croft et al...

Vaughan was 16 when he burst onto the scene a couple of years back but he did his knee and missed the whole of last season...Just coming back into it now but he's probably only played 10 games in his entire career. Related subject I've been sorting thru all my old shit this morning...came across a teamsheet from a FA Youth Cup semi final game I went to back in '03 - City vs Boro - Its amazing how few of the kids make it. Only 2 of the 16 City players are still at the club, 7 of them aren't even playing proffesional football anymore AFAIK, only recognise half a dozen of the Boro players. I really wouldn't be pinning to much hope on these youngsters, chances are its never going to happen...

Agreed. Voted for them too. That Mihajlovic was a right piece of work, how many times did he get done for spitting? Scum of the highest order. And that Di Canio nazi salute. Just a fucked up club.

Not seen it (watching the cricket) but Scholes is the luckiest player in the world to have not been sent off a million times before. He is an awful tackler but he gets away with murder, IMO due to his manner. He just doesnt come across as being nasty. PS: Come on the Roma.
