  1. As if being linked to a move for Dyer wasn't funny enough... What are they smoking at WHL?
  2. Not even the best English footballer at the moment. He's not even the best English footballer at Manchester United. Not even close.
  3. They got beat 1-0 home and away in 04/05... Forza Milan...2 away goals, you can do it!
  4. I think you're being a bit harsh on Mr Tyldsley. I think he's an excellent commentator - Even if he is a touch biased, surely even his most ardent critics must awknowledge that he must possess a very special amount of skill for him to speak so clearly with Wayne Rooney's cock in his mouth.
  5. Quinn is probbably right about Tyne/Wear being more passionate than Manchester or North London, Thing with our Derby is, while we hate them, they have so many other rivals that their local fans feeling is diluted(long distance fans dont count for derbies). Us, Liverpool, Chelsea/Arsenal/Whoever else is challnging for the league, Leeds...etc. Its just not the same as a derby when both times only have one genuine rival - each other. But I dont think he can say for sure unless he had played for everyone. The hatred in those Brum derbies was something else, and I bet they are mad down in the lower leagues.
  6. Not impossible! Manchester City and Everton are vying to sign Cardiff striker Michael Chopra for £4m. (Daily Star) I believe its actually £8m for Kamara.
  7. Yeah I think I remember that kiss. Around the 18 yard area...? It was right in the goalmouth I think...Maybe after the scuffle from a corner...
  8. Old City player called Andy Morrison once got sent off for kissing Stan Collymore IIRC (Not as bad as Kevin Horlock's red card for "aggresive walking")
  9. Got sent off in the world cup final.
  10. Not that thrilled about this. There was an interview with him in one of the papers the other day (obviously a charm offensive as a prelude to this) where he sounded like a good guy but... 1) Not got that much money. Especially If Pearce isn't sacked as he'll spunk it all on shite. 2) We're the zillionth club he's tried to buy, not got City at heart even if he did play for us. I suppose 2 would be minor considering I'm waiting for some American billionaire who has never even been to Manchester to buy us...but 1 is a pretty bid deal. With rediculously uncompetitive in the transfer market, I would have hoped a takeover would have led to more money than that. Altho I suppose if it results in us coming out of debt, we can actually play on the same field as everyone else (£20m headstart plus new TV deal?). Which would be nice but...potential takeovers, could be so much nicer... EDIT: Further investigation leads me to think this isn't true. Shouldnt there be a statement from the club to the stock exchange saying theyve recieved an offer? There has been a statement, but it was only talking about negotiations and slapping Pearce on the wrist for borderline insider trading...

    Joey Barton

I think its great hes done this publically. I'm glad to know we have a player who cares about the direction our club is going (ie, nowhere), rather than be happy to collect his money and pretend everything is wonderful, when it aint.

Here is a more complete version. Lasts about 9:30. Link. I would recommend listening to it. Unbelievably spot on, speaks exactly what everyone is thinking. Almost all of his critisms would apply to Newcastle too: Dropping points against poor sides, poor gameplan, signing average players....very interesting. Some arguements down here about if he was right to say it - Poll from a City forum: Was he right To say what he did? Yes! It Needed Saying. 68% (Including me) No! He Was Out Of Order. 32% Was great to hear someone from the team speak with such passion and insight IMO.
  13. He was a Wolves player when they were in the Premiership but he didn't play. Missed the whole season due to a knee injury, believe it was caused by some gangster who wasn't best pleased about Lescott seeing his bird...
  14. Yes. am i right in thinking he left city after being caught up in some east german mafia car theft scam? He had already left us (He was only a loan player), but yeah he got done by der polizei...Got a suspended sentence for it I think, as he was only a minor player in the whole dealie and hardly made any money out of it. More famous nowadays for being butted in the groin by Boris Johnson. There was another old City player in the news not so long ago for being involved in some cocaine thing. Played for Everton as well I think. I cant remember his name either (Got the memory span of a goldfish sometimes).
  15. I was going to say Marc Hottiger...but then I cheated. Cant say I remember [answer] at all
  16. That bald Bulgarian fella who scored a diving header against Germany in '94 - Letchkov? And the Belgian goalie who was absolutely ace....Prudehomme was it? And there was another goalie at USA 94 who wore a wig. I think he was romanian? Cant remember his name.
  17. Sunday Oliseh. Scored the goal that put Spain out of France 98 IIRC. Andoni Zubizureta. The goalie he put it past.
  18. He was a Villa player, yes. Hinchcliffe was the City player. Who?
  19. Thats the one. I remember (Well, almost remember) him and Darren Eadie being "Stars of the future" or some such bollox in the official sticker album for the 93/94 season...along with some other blokes who I don't remember at all.
  20. It's not Andy Hinchliffe, is it? No....I think I would remember him. He was part of City's Youth Cup winning side of '86 along with all sorts of other names who would qualify for this thread....Paul Lake, David White, Steve Redmond, Ian Brightwell...
  21. Darren Eadie. And one other guy, whos name I cant remember and its really bugging me. Played for Leicester or Coventry or someone like that, was on the fringes of being the answer to England's left wing problem (One or two caps maybe) until Nicky Summerbee crocked his ankle and he was forced to retire. Somethings telling me its Steve Guppy. But it wasn't.
  22. 1. van der Sar - Never been that good IMO, I can remember a game against Fulham not so long ago where he played well but for most of the season he has had nowt to do but watch, and has been pretty dodgy in recent weeks. Probably got in because the main competition Cech has been injured but I would always give this award to someone with a heavier workload such as Jaaskelinen, James or Carson. 2. Neville - This is my bias creeping in but he's not a special player and can in no way be considered the outstanding candidate. I would have given it to Steve Finnan by the virtue of him not being Gary Neville. 3. Evra - I'd like to say "WTF is he doing here?" but I'm struggling to name someone else. Cole has been very disappointing IMO, there isn't much else left. I'll let him slide. 4. Ferdinand - No dispute. I know some people look down their nose at him but IMO he's a class act. 5. Vidic - Suprising. I think he's monstorously overrated (Shite when the ball drops below head height IMO) but altho he's had a lot of good games (Not suprising when 90% of the teams in this league constantly hoof the ball from back to front) I would have put either Carragher or Carvalho in there instead. 6. Scholes - Obviously. Best player of that group of "kids" by a street IMO even if he can't tackle for shit. Benefited from the time off he had with that going blind dealie, probably 3rd best player in the league this season. 7. Ronaldo - Hmm... 8. Gerrard - This selection belongs firmly in the "Eh?!?!" category. Spent the first half of the season on the right wing, done alright since moving in but nothing spectacular by his standards. Would definetly have Essien in there instead. 9. Drogba - Obvious choice. 10. Berbatov - Debatable. I think he's a class act, tremendous player most of the time but he's done f all away from home. But I'd struggle to name a replacement. Looking at the top scorers there is only really Rooney, who I don't think is that hot and is very inconsistent, and Benni McCarthy, who is not as good a player as Berbatov obviously but he does seem more consistent. I'd probably agree with the choice of Berbatov tbf. 11. Giggs - No. Never been as good as some make out IMO, and I don't think he's contributed that much this season(Ronaldo and Scholes absolutely carry that team as far as I'm concerned). I would have put someone like Matt Taylor in there, I think he's done a lot more to help his team and has produced more of a thrill factor for Joe Public with his stupid ammount of wondergoals. So that comes out: James Finnan Ferdinand Carragher Evra Ronaldo Scholes Essien Taylor Drogba Berbatov Also think its interesting that there was no love for Lampard. Even if he's carried on scoring silly ammounts of goals, he's not been selected here, wasn't nominated for the main award and most of the country wants him out of the England side. HIs star seems to be falling...
  23. Seen him play for Barcelona at City, he was their best player by an absolute street. Absolutely wondeful movement, didn't stand still for a second when they were on the attack, constantly looking to get into the little spaces between the defenders (A little like Michael Owen in that sense). I think he'd do a great job for a pure footballing side. Unfortunately thats not us and I doubt its you. I agree, I think he'd do well for Arsenal.
