Oh, I'm sure they'll still go through. Teams often roll over at Anfield. It's just funny to see how far behind they still are after signing Robbie "last piece of the jigsaw" Keane.

Dave- not sure I remember any talk of Tiago in January. Certainly no major stories about him, it was probably just a little column filler that they're now trumpeting as an exclusive. The tabloids love doing that. Just read that new Daily Mail piece but I'm still not holding my breath after all the other players we've "closed in on" this summer.

I love it when their "title challenge" is over by Halloween every year no matter how much they spend.
-
If he does, it reduces the chances of a transfer to Everton, but keeps our own chances exactly the same. I don't think we're even after him. There have been precisely zero rumours about Tiago to Everton from any decent source of info. Saw you credited with an interest in a couple of Italian rags the other day, but that's it. Oh right. I've lost count of the number of players we've been "interested", "pondered a move" and "considered a swoop" for. There's no real chatter about Tiago on the message boards or from any supposed ITK's.

There are rumours Villa have offered 1m more and will pay higher wages Please be true!

It's not bollocks. He was at the training ground today. Pienaar has broken his foot- gutted.

Thought they were after love as well as Smith Doubt it, they'll have 5 strikers this way, and i'm not really expecting Moyes to see Smith as a midfielder, the deal seemed to reach a dead end last sunday and their no longer intrested..just a matter of time till the press announce that he's staying.. Which five strikers are you referring to there? As far as I know they currently have only two senior strikers, Yakubu and Anichebe. Vaughan's starting to come through but I doubt he can be relied upon as a first team player yet. The likes of Jose Baxter certainly can't. Vaughan broke through before Anichebe and is miles better than him. He's just injured all the fucking time. I don't think signing Love means we won't get Smith.

It would be crazy to see Henry in a Man Utd shirt. £20m is a huge fee for someone his age who has looked to be on a downward slope for the past couple of years.

Our mate "nicko" says we're signing Wagner Love. Hopefully before the season starts. Must be a Jo-like deal were you pay 50 pence up front and the rest in instalments.
-
No. He was 3rd highest odds after Wenger & Ferguson until some daft internet rumour meant there was a flurry of betting so his odds went down to 16/1. I think Curbishley is still the favourite to go first.

Derby Paul Jewell's sweaty, fat head was a picture.
-
We've both been linked with Michael Johnson as well. I think we'll go for him if we can't get Moutinho.
-
Either way, if Everton are interested they will put the cash up for him. Have faith. Not if Moyes doesn't think he's worth it. Moyes has passed up the opportunity to sign plenty of players he's wanted in the past because he wouldn't budge on the fee or wages.

McCarthy was great in his first season but was pretty poor last time out. He must be knocking on a bit as well... isn't he 29 or something?

No they can't. He's my new hero. As a regular on here, how are you finding the comparison between our opinions on the player and Everton fans'? Your opinions of Smith are very negative, as is mine and anyone that I consider a half decent poster on the Everton forums I browse. All the posters who are usually muppets are saying that he's a good signing on the strength of nothing else but him being cheap and a well known name as far as I can tell. Some are further in denial and talking about how "class" he was at Leeds. Any ITK info dripping out from the Everton boards about the deal? Someone fairly reliable said he was signing for us about 2 days ago.

I honestly think Everton are just a bunch of well managed, average to good players, and that you've only got by recently because of chaos at other clubs. Well I honestly think you're a WUM.

James, your ratings of Everton players are a total joke You were trying to get me to bite surely.

We've finished above Villa for 4 seasons on the spin, finished above Newcastle for 2 seasons on the spin, finished above Portsmouth since about 1950 and finished above Spurs for 2 out of the last 4 seasons. We're actually quite rubbish according to the poll though Looking at the teams now I think Spurs have the best squad but I don't expect them to fulfil their potential as usual because they've got no team ethic and can't get a consistent defence for love nor money. Next in the quality stakes is ourselves and Villa. Both of us need more squad depth but are more than a match for anyone when it comes to the first XI. Both have quality managers who can work with small squads and imo are better than Newcastle and the media flavour of the month- Pompey.
-
What mix of players is that then? We still probably have the best first 11 outside the top 4. We just need to boost numbers. Who is your starting 11 ? Seriously 1878 what's your starting 11? I'm curious now. Howard Neville Yobo Lescott Baines Rodwell Pienaar Osman Cahill Arteta Yakubu

Why replace one shit player with another? Healy couldn't even cut it in the Championship for Leeds, nevermind the Premiership.

I'd like us to swap Tony Hibbert for Michael Owen as well mate.
