I would have so take the deal that would have landed us Insua and Guthrie. Milner sucks. Insua is a very talented young left back. Watched him for the reserves last season and he looked good. Guthrie can only be marginally worse than MIlner at the very worst. He's probably better than Milner in fact. Milner is miles better than Guthrie. Insua looks decent.

Your far too sensible for these shores. How I wanted us to sign Bentley after his first stint at Norwich, but it was the same type of things being said about Guthrie and Larsson now. There is no guarantee these players will become as good as Bentley, but it is well worth taking a flier on a few of these types of players due to their reasonably cheap prices and potential for improvement. The difference being that Bentley caught the eye somewhat at Norwich. Guthrie has been largely crap at Bolton and hasn't really stood out in their rubbish team. Larsson looks a clear step above Guthrie to me.

They can't afford him Man City can, they're in Europe and are managed by Hughes.. A midfield of Petrov - Johnson - Elano - Bentley. Top four-tastic. Not one of them could tackle a fish supper and Elano was shit for the lions share of the season. He had a good few months at the start of the season and then went missing. That midfield would be walked all over. Not that Mark Hughes would ever dream of putting such a lightweight team out.

Ferrari is a fucking class player. He didn't have any problems with the physicality of the league at all, his problem was Moyes being too loyal to Davey Weir and playing him alongside Yobo whenever he was fit. Hobbs is the centre half they bought from Lincoln for a fair sum. His first game for them was a friendly against a german team that was on telly a couple of summers back, he cost them 2/3 goals single handedly and ended up in tears He's had a few Carling Cup games and the like since then and doesn't look anything special. Seem to remember he played when Reading beat them 3-1 on telly this season just gone. He would offer fuck all to Newcastle.
