  1. Not a great performance in general, but you can't really account for the two horrific individual errors that put the game beyond us. Biggest problem for us is that when Tripps and Schar are off form like today and Bournemouth, pretty much our entire attacking game-plan falls to bits. We aren't incisive enough through the midfield to break teams like this down.
  2. Literally a week since he had MBappe in his pocket.
  3. It's always going to be hard to maintain good away form when you're scraping at the barrel for players like
  4. Has a similar feeling to the Bournemouth game. We need to be on it tonight.

Looks one of the best left backs in the league. Would love to see him have the confidence to have a crack every now and then when he cuts inside, but otherwise he's pretty much flawless.
  6. Barnes is a huge one to get back to be honest, being able to rest Gordon will be massive.
  7. Yeah, really. I felt the stage got to us a bit, of course fatigue was a massive issue but if you think we weren't nervous in the second half I don't know what to tell you. It's hardly a criticism, we were away in the parc des princes defending a slender lead, we dropped back and were hitting it "anywhere will do" for much of the last 20 minutes. A more experienced team would've tried to get their foot on the ball and slow the tempo, especially when fatigued. This is something that will come with experience in the competition, and again, it's not a criticism of the performance.
  8. I agree, it doesn't make what I said wrong though it's not exactly a scathing criticism to say we rode our luck a bit in the second half and could have done with calming down a bit, we were clearly nervy.
  9. Proud of the performance but it did feel like the goal was coming, wish we'd had the composure to get a hold of it and settle, I think it was mainly nerves rather than fatigue. The pen came from Bruno chipping it out of play instead of a simple pass to Gordon, it's moments like that which cost you at this level sadly. Draw is good enough though. Beat Milan and you never know, Dortmund still have top spot to play for.

Wish we'd saved that £40m instead of buying the best fullback since Cafu.

That has definitely stood out to me too. You watch the other young kids coming on in recent weeks, they're bombing about all over the pitch trying to look keen, as any one of us would. Miley has never done that though, he's always shown positional discipline, played at a normal tempo and looked completely unphased. That's the hallmark of someone who knows they're good enough.
  12. Over 4 minutes for such an obvious offside man. VAR is absolute shite, ruining football.

"Almost every team in the world" is quite a hefty sample size, so he's probably right tbf.

    Anthony Gordon

Gordon made the most of the contact but it was still definitely a foul for me, James knew it too hence why he didn't kick up much of a fuss

    Anthony Gordon

5 goals, 3 assists and 2 penalties won is a really strong start to the season from him, and those stats don't even reflect what he brings in terms of work rate. Ridiculous that Southgate overlooks him.

Going to be a top player when he bulks up a bit and gains the belief to impose himself a little bit more. Only Bruno moves the ball more fluently than him of our midfielders.
  17. Don't remember Tino struggling at all against Bournemouth? The goal came down that side, but there was nothing he could've done considering the deflection. Trippier was poor on both sides in that game.
  18. I think top 4 is extremely unlikely now, and it shouldn't be the expectation. City, Liverpool and Arsenal will finish top 3, and that fourth spot is going to be too hotly contested for such a thin and depleted squad IMO, especially when you have Spurs playing one game a week. Things may look different in January if we're out of Europe entirely and out of the Carling cup I suppose, but at the moment I'm feeling like we'll come 6th or 7th, which wouldn't be an an awful season all things considered.

Looks a good prospect. Thought he probably should have stayed on ahead of Longstaff, who was clearly blowing through his arse.
  20. Fatigue and injuries obviously an issue, but there have been some really poor individual performances here from key senior players. Trippier, Longstaff, Joelinton, Willock and Gordon in particular have been rank on the ball and with their decision making.
  21. Surely we have some academy lads who can pad out the bench instead of putting two keepers on there every week?
  22. I actually thought a bit much was made of the Bruno incident. It's a sort of "get out the way" nudge because Jorginho looks like he's about to block off his path, but it's higher than I think he meant it to be. It's possibly still a red, but I don't think he tried to do him.

Was impressed with him making himself available and asking for the ball. Small thing, but a lot of younger players would've hidden in that atmosphere.

Burn has been solid, but his limitations are obvious and (for me) you won't move forward at the highest level with a CB playing FB, it's arguably the most important position on the pitch now in modern systems.. It's brutal, but there isn't room for sentiment when you have a player warming the bench with this much talent.
