Would imagine we're downplaying his injury so clubs don't try to ramp up transfer fees on strikers even more than they already are. I don't think the extent of it will be revealed until we've got somebody in.
-
Tremendous free kick. Still haven't lost a league game with him in the team I think?
-
Never thought I'd be slightly disappointed with a point against City fantastic performance.
-
If it was any other player they'd be booed tbf
-
If we're still bringing Murphy and Wood off the bench to try and change games by the end of January, we won't be finishing top 8.
-
Decent result but not impressed with the performance like. Thought we were miles off it and completely lacked intensity, looked like we expected an easier game than we got. The need for quality in the attacking third has never been more obvious.
-
We need to wake up in the second half like, worst performance in ages, really sloppy.
-
Aye, this bloke is world class. One of the best players in the league.
-
Agreed. Wouldn't argue with his performances under Howe being generally improved, but sooner or later he'll let us down with half arsed performances again. We also looked a lot more dynamic without him in the last few games. He's fine as backup.
-
It sounds good, but Maldini liked a slide tackle too, in fact he was one of the best at it.
-
Another good signing for Villa, the speed they're working at is what I would have liked to have seen from us tbh.
-
Regardless of what happens next, this bloke has pulled off one of the most important and - at one point - seemingly impossible tasks in our modern history. Club legend.
-
I'd usually agree, but it's difficult to accuse the team of a lack of character given the four months we've had, and where we were before that.
-
1-0 against Liverpool is no disgrace, especially without just throwing 11 men behind the ball. A bit extra quality in the final third and we get something today.
-
Know we won't stay there, but even touching 9th place is incredible from where we were. What a job Howe and his coaching staff have done.
-
Long time since we've had a world class centre midfielder, but he certainly looks one to me.
-
Poor today, but I did think some of his positional errors were exposed by MT's initial positional errors, which in turn were often caused by ASM not tracking runners. Our defence and midfield had a mare in general and I'm not convinced he's suddenly shit, this is his first bad game for us - he was still a rock against Everton and Chelsea, obvious mistakes aside. Does need to cut some of the bravado though and focus on just defending his position.
-
Personally think he's been very poor and the winning run, for the most part, was in spite of his performances. I can see some positives that he brings but as a goal threat he offers very little, and ultimately that's what he's there for.
-
Nothing wrong with his setup tonight, apart from the right flank arguably but any combination is not particularly inspiring down that side. Players just didn't put in the same pressing that we've seen in recent weeks and lost their composure as the game went on. At least there's a break now to hopefully finish the safety job.
-
He's an absolute passenger, like. The biggest myth of the season is that his presence has contributed to our upturn in form; it's almost entirely happened in spite of him.
-
Disgraceful second half performance, reverted to Bruceball.
-
Feels a bit harsh to put that on him like, he's prevented a lot more with his performances.
-
Deserved in the second half tbh, we've been awful
