  1. Better than Curtis Davies, Titus Bramble and Michael Turner? How would you compare Gary Cahill to Joleon Lescott, Matthew Upson and Phil Jagielka ?

    Chris Hughton

    WELL DONE MISTER HUGHTON
  3. OK How good is Gary Cahill ? Your opinions please
  4. I was talking about Gary Cahill ?
  5. Gary Cahill How good is him ? Why is him so frequently mentioned in the news lately ? Rio Ferdinand, John Terry, Jamie Carragher Joleon Lescott, Matthew Upson, Phil Jagielka Curtis Davies, Titus Bramble, Gary Cahill, Michael Turner, Ryan Shawcross, Michael Dawson Anton Ferdinand, Roger Johnson, Scott Dann, Zat Knight Have I underrated Gary Cahill or overrated others ?
  6. Based on this http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/premier-league-ready-to-take-control-as-penniless-pompey-crash-1796230.html Sulley Muntari, in £7m, out £12.7m ...... Net + £5.7m David Nugent, in £6m Glen Johnson, in £4m, out £18m ...... Net + £14m John Utaka, in £7m Papa Bouba Diop, in undisclosed Sylvain Distin, in Free, out £5m .... Net + £5m Herman Hreidarsson, in Free Lassana Diarra, in £5.5m, out £20m .... Net + £14.5m Jermain Defoe, in £9m, out £15m .... Net + £6m Peter Crouch, in £11m, out £9m ...... Net - £2m Younes Kaboul, in £6m NET : +24.2 M How the fuck could Portsmouth be in their deep shite now ? Granted all these players all have to be paid wages, the net gain in transfer money should easily finance this. WHere do all the money goes ? Stadium ?
  7. I wonder how much did Harry Redknappe contribute to this Portsmouth crisis ? He spent loads to sign players. Yet Porstmouth did get some significant money selling Redknappe's players. Maybe the players wage crippled Portsmouth ?

  9. Tim Howard Dan Gosling, Tony Hibbert, Sylvain Distin, Leighton Baines Leon Osman, Marouane Fellani, Tim Cahill, Diniyar Bilyaletdinov Jô, Ayegbeni Yakubu Shit bench, but a very decent starting 11. Tony Hibbert may well perform very competently as a blood and thunder no nonsense central defender ala John Terry and Jamie Carragher. Distin, Baines and Gosling are all agile enough to cover up after Hibbert has committed. Tim Howard is a very good keeper. Don't worry at all 1878

  11. Thanks Village Idiot, that's a fantastic write up. Gejon, after so many months you are still on about me playing Championship Manager. I have never played Championship Manager in my whole life - is that clear enough ? You being a plonker as you are most likely wouldn't take that. I would be amazed if Championship Manager could tell me that Pique was/is slow turning, that Johny Evans was/is better. If I followed Championship Manager, I shouldn't be surprised that he has achieved what he has with Barcelona. Wasn't him very highly rated !? Anyway, say what you like, as usual. Comments is free.
  12. Thierry Henry, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Bojan Krkić, Lionel Messi, Pedro Rodríguez Xavi Hernández, Sergio Busquets, Yaya Touré, Seydou Keita, Jeffrén Suárez, Andrés Iniesta Maxwell, Éric Abidal, Gerard Piqué, Gabriel Milito, Dmytro Chygrynskiy, Rafael Márquez, Carles Puyol, Dani Alves Víctor Valdés World class left winger, as a replacement for Henry ? What do you think about Pedro Rodríguez ? Also wonder what are your opinions on Chygrynskiy and Pique ? I sounded out Pique long time ago and everyone thought (and still think) I was/am a Man Utd supporter taking the piss. While I rated him I never thought he will scale this height with Barcelona. Johny Evans (of Man Utd) was better than him, and is arguably still better than him. What do you think ? Personally I think he reads the game well, he heads well, but he is a slow-turning and clumsy. And what happen to Rafael Marquez and Gabriel Milito ?
  13. In no particular order Leo Messi Cristiano Ronald Zlatan Ibrahimović David Villa Diego Forlan Ruud Vanistelrooy Fernando Torres Didier Drogba Samuel Eto Luca Toni ?
  14. Real Madrid vs Barcelona Karim Benzema, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Gonzalo Higuaín, Raul Cristiano Ronaldo, Lassana Diarra, Guti , Mahamadou Diarra, Xabi Alonso, Fernando Gago, Esteban Granero, Rafael van der Vaart, Kaká Marcelo, Pepe, Raúl Albiol, Ezequiel Garay, Christoph Metzelder, Sergio Ramos, Álvaro Arbeloa Iker Casillas vs Thierry Henry, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Bojan Krkić, Lionel Messi Xavi Hernández, Sergio Busquets, Pedro Rodríguez, Yaya Touré, Seydou Keita, Jeffrén Suárez, Andrés Iniesta Maxwell, Éric Abidal, Gerard Piqué, Gabriel Milito, Dmytro Chygrynskiy, Rafael Márquez, Carles Puyol, Dani Alves Víctor Valdés Both teams ridiculously star studded At full force, everyone available and top form, who will win on paper ?
  15. You are right Nixon, Hendry Thomas.
  16. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11096_2705370,00.html Even though Arsenal are perceived to be a pretty passing side They actually amassed less passes than Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd and Tottenham. Can anyone give an "explanation" of why so ? Stoke, Bolton, Blackburn = certified long-passing sides. Porstmouth shot accuray = 29%. Tommy Smith, Piquionne, Kanu, Utake, Webber, Dindane Chelsea significantly ahead on shot count. True colour of a champion ? Henry Thomas has excellent tackling rate. I hardly watch him - is him a good DM, or does he lose grip of midfiled too often for him to indulge in takling ?
  17. Not sure if this is the right thread, but here it is anyway Search in youtube for this clip "15 Minutes That Shook The World - Rafa's Song"
  18. It is a fair point. Yakubu - 11.25M Jo - Loan Saha - Minimal, pay as you play Pienaar - Loan + 2M Billy ~~11M ? Fellaini - 14M Rodwell - youth (sorry for the mistake) Cosling - 2M ? Neville - 3.5M Cahill - 1.5M Arteta - Loan + 2M Baines - 6M Distin - Free Jagielka - 4M Heitinga - 6.2M Neill - Free (Lescott) - 5M Howard - 3M A significant part of the success are down free transfer (Neill, Distin, 1/2 Saha), and amazing loan (Arteta, Jo, Pienaar) The rest are mid price range success Also quite a few big money transfer - Billy, Yakubu, Fellaini Great record
  19. How freaking good is David Moyes in the transfer market in the past few years (post Andy Van der Mat or whoever the cut off point)? Yakubu, Jo, Saha Pienaar, Billy, Fellaini, Rodwell, Cosling, Neville, Cahill, Arteta Baines, Distin, Jagielka, Heitinga, Neill (Lescott) Howard No single wasteful bad transfer. No single failure (ignoring free rubbish). No I do not consider Fellani overpriced. Some of the Everton supporters who wanted David Moyes out are complete, complete nuts and assholes.
  20. Try to view it in a different light Alberto. Money can't buy everything - I am as impressed by Mark Hugh's smart buying - he knows exactly who to buy. I enjoy a superb manager organising a team of rich footballers into a cohesive unbeatable side (Jose Mourinho & Chelsea) I enjoy watching Alex Ferguson wheeling and dealing, on multi millions scales. His recent track records are scaringly good. I appreciate Arsene Wenger trying from a different angle, assembling a youthful and promising side while servicing the stadium debt. I also enjoy watching Rafa Benitez squandering billions of pounds and then complain about lack of money. I admire what David Moyes has achieved with his steady approach. His recent years transfer record is almost impeccable. I like how Martin O'Neill trying a different route - focusing (or obsessing) on home based players only, and he delivers respectable results. I laugh at Spurs, having such a high playing staff turnover and promising so much, yet still to achieve consistent top 6 like Everton. I enjoy Stoke's approach - trying to build a team out of giants to compensate for lack of guile. I am impressed by Sam Allardyce "scientific" approach in Bolton, and now in Blackurn. I find it amusing that Steve Bruce tried to turn Wigan into a Honduras national team. His forage into latin America has proven to be fruitful I love Robert Martinez' boyous smiles. I love it when "nobody" Burnley beat Manchester United with a team of nobodies. There are still many sensible managers out there - trying to outwit and outdo each other. No cash, so what. Innovation, creativity. Cash guarantees you nothing if you can't back it out with solid merit. The pasture is still green.
