  1. The solution to our left back problem? He is currently on 6 months contracts with Man City. Has generally impressed since.
  2. Skysports Again I don't understand why Phil Neville is picked ahead of Joleon Lescott. When Valente is out Lescott is always picked ahead of Neville. Why would McLaren opt for Neville ahead of Lescott? Glad to see our Parker in the squad.
  3. How is this related to if he is a nice/good person !?
  4. It is well known in Tyneside that Taylor is not a nice/good person. Though this is irrelevant to his football merits.
  5. All these players are not blessed with blistering pace. I am not saying that they don't have other valuable attributes that make them useful but pace is not everything to a forward. Manchester United - Rooney, Larsson, Smith Chelsea - Schevchenko Liverpool - Kuyt, Crouch Arsenal - Baptista Bolton Wanderers - Anelka, Davies Everton - Reading - Doyle, Lita, Kitson Tottenham Hotspur - Berabatov Portsmouth - Blackburn Rovers - McCarthy, Nonda, Derbyshire Newcastle United - Sibiersji Middlesbrough - Viduka Aston Villa - Carew Fulham - McBride Wigan Athletic - Heskey, McCulloch, Faleb Sheffield United - Hulse Manchester City - Charlton Athletic - Watford -
  6. Are you illiterate, LeazesMag? http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php#3
  7. I don't think that Liverpool short of world class players other than forwards. Carragher, Alonso, Gerrard - World class. Reina, Riise, Finnan, Agger, Sissoko, Kuyt - Good enough Crouch, Bellamy, Gonzalesc, Pennant - Not good enough. I really do think that they are lacking only a world class striker to be a devastating side. If you look at the league table, they only concede 20 goals, about the same with Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal. But the number of goals they score is significantly less than the former 3. And the forwards can't complain that they don't get enough service, especially a certain Newcastle outcast.
  8. Chopra not being pacy? I have to disagree with you on this. I don't disagree with you that Chopra wasn't as good as Ameobi, for I happily agree that physical attributes are part and parcel of a striker's ability and hence Chopra Ameobi was better. But I still hold the opinion that Chopra has the potential to be a premiership striker in the same class as Bellamy and Defoe.
  9. Ameobi is a big powerful centre forward. His physical attributes make him so valuable to different managers even though it is evident he has little skills and composure. Players like Chopra and Defoe are clever little players. Both didn't produce instantly when given an opportunity. Whereas Defoe is given chances after chances, games after games, Chopra isn't afforded such luxury as we have plenty of cash to spend on new, more experienced and more proven strikers. Chopra's big disadvantage is he isn't tall, strong and powerful like Ameobi and Sibierski. He won't be a shortsighted solution, like Ameobi and Sibierski, to any team. That's why he will got little chance in Newcastle United.
  10. The squad depth of the current Liverpool is impressive, and is done without over-spending. But like most other sides they lack a genuine cutting edge in a free scoring forward. Before the season started I thought Liverpool would be a title contender but Bellamy, an astute business nonetheless, has flopped. Both Pennant and Gonzales too. It would be really interesting if Benitez acquires Villa in this summer. Squarefootball
  11. I don't dispute he looked out of his depth in the few chances he had here. But he is doing great in Championship and he looks too good at this level at times. Forgive me for being too sentimental, but I hate the fact that we lost a local talent so easily and bought a certain Man City reject which no one expected him to do well (although he has been vital to us). I never understand why Ameobi get chances ahead of him times after times. Hope Chopra would prove Newcastle wrong big time in the future.
  12. Hypothetical question. The partnership of Martins + Chopra. What do you think? Squarefootball
  13. Hah? Appalling !!? Then what are the words you use to describe Newcastle's performance? I won't deny many of the players are not premiership class but amateur? Or are you simply being sarcastic?
  14. Talking about Sunderland. Just watched them playing Stoke. Though they lost they played well again. If we need to find a perfect partner for our own Steven Taylor look no further. Jonathan Evan is just the man. Really remind me of Woodgate. Roy Keane is also the man to manage Newcastle United. Constant attack, constant pressing, good passing.
  15. To be fair Peter Reid did a good job in Sunderland. His only failure is his Coventry stint.
  16. Ben Foster Gary Neville Nemanja Vidic Jonathan Woodgate Patrice Evra Christiano Ronaldo Paul Scholes (Blank) Ryan Giggs (Or Ajen Robben if he could stay fit and play well consistently) Didier Drogba (Blank - Martins/Berbatov/McCarthy etc)
  17. Hopefully our players or the manager don't log on to N-O. There are quite a number of posters here who enjoy abusing them. Rich or poor, I thought we should always maintain respects for people. Criticism is different from plain abuse. Shepherd being an exception, of course. The Times Millwallonline
  18. Macbeth, we are the 5th best club how dare you! :angry9:
  19. Nice results for me. I put 50£ on Blackburn, 50£ on Watford Tempted to put money on Chelsea and Celtic too but didn't

    Right-backs

Instead of Lucas Neill, why did we miss the boat of Lauren !!? Shame that Greg Halford went to Reading for 2.25 million this January. He would have the right profile we are after (Height, potential, proven record, transfer fee, wage)
