It's Ok saying drop them but who for? You can drop Simpson, put R.Taylor in and someone else on RW but who can play better than Jonas and Williamson on LW and CB? That's the point I was making. And why Pardew's hands are tied to an extent, I think after the couple of hammerings we've had he has zero confidence in the backline, and is overcompensating by stifling the rest of the team, which is actually probably the worst thing to do since it encourages more pressure.

I also agree that he has tightened up and become more conservative after the good start to the season, almost like he's trying to preempt a 'wheels coming off' scenario occurring. Needs to have more confidence in the team and himself in handling the pressure. I can see why, to be fair, because he's become a victim of his own success, but he must surely see that we're going to slide down the table if things carry on as they are.

Something needs to change, we haven't looked convincing for a while now. Whether it's going 433 or switching out a couple of players who are off form (Jonas, Simpson). Not getting another defender in is looking more of a terrible move each passing game, because Simpson seriously needs dropping and Williamson has looked dodgy too.
  4. The younger lads need games to iron out mistakes, it's absurd to drop them because of a drop in form. I'm actually glad Oxlade has been left out though. Leave him until after the Euros and let him cut his teeth with England before throwing him in with massive pressure. (Walcott-esque)

The thing that is definitely noticeable in this thread, and don't ask me to find examples because I can't be arsed, is the disparity between the praise and criticism and the haste with which the latter appears, it's almost like there's some who are waiting, posts already drafted, for us to lose in order to bash Pardew. And it's annoying.

  10. Aye, I can understand why they don't show it, but it annoys me when they start calling it 'shameful' or whatever. Just a laugh, I find it hilarious. Cos it endorses it if they laugh.

We need to get HTT a copy of FM12 so he can blow some of this steam off on there.

Cue HTT compiling a 3000 word report on how he could come in and successfully succeed Pards.
  13. Sigh, Suarez is the one who has to take Evra's hand, which is outstretched, seeing as he is the one approaching. Freeze framing doesn't show that. How petty and boring is this whole affair now? Really been a sorry affair all round and a total and utter embarrassment to the reputation of the PL concerning racism, which has been very good for a long while up until Terry/Suarez.

  16. Not sure how that differs from any other club..? Or, how you'd even begin to interpret the logic of any managerial appointments.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

I would fully accept what he says there if Obertan produced Jonas like defensive performances, the truth is, from what i have seen of him, he's naive, weak and bottles challenges when we're not on the ball. He put in one totally out of character challenge near the touchline but there's no been no other instances where I've thought he was doing a good defensive job. In my opinion, we should be going out looking to win games, especially at home. That means Ben Arfa starts, if Obertan comes on later to provide some more tracking back, then that's logical, but I think Pards is being over-conservative in the Ben Arfa/wing role issue.
