Oh for fucks sake. Not even I am that paranoid. Clearly he does, but he's reaping the whirlwind of poor advice he acted upon earlier in his tenure here. He's in a tailspin and he can't get out of it now. His main concern right now will be how to protect his retail empire from the downturn that has already seen several big name high street chains go under, I would imaging getting himself out of the NUFC nightmare, whilst still important, probably isn't that big a priority for him and he'll be looking to the medium-term to get what he feels is a reasonably safe pair of hands on the tiller simply to steer the ship through the stormy waters and avoid relegation each season until the wider economy rights itself and we're back into calmer economic waters...and he'll then be able to sell the club at what he regards a reasonable price. Not surprised by this turn of events at all. Disappointed, aye. But then we don't live in a Fantasy Football world. We live in this one, where things are fucking bleak and nasty and miserable sometimes. No. It's real. Deal with it.

Bollocks. We'd be shit in the SPL as well.

Fabulous news. I fully expect the next announcement from Ashley's brainless minion will be that from now on the team will come on to the pitch to the unmistakable sounds of http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=EP7CDvQULXw Wankers.

Why do people keep saying that? looked like an utter c*** when he was in charge of us. There's a difference between being out of your depth & being an "utter c***". You've forgotten the golden rule: "everyone associated with NUFC since 1991 apart from Keegan and Robson are utter c***s" ..and Sir Les...mind - he's a cockney t***...and Rob Lee...mind - he's a cockney t*** as well... I believe those two are covered by the "adopted geordie" caveat. Whilst homegrown geordies who move south to London get lambasted as being "plastic geordies"...

On the subject of Portsmouth... They sign a player on for £7.5 million in January 2008. In the interim, the world's financial markets collapse, the value of everything turns to shit, said player plays OK, nothing spectacular though, and they manage to sell him for £15 million back to the same club that received only half of that, 12 months earlier??!! In real terms they've probably trebled their money! Is that not the best bit of business since Blackburn paid £500,000 for Bentley then sold him for £17 million less than 2 years later?? And - more to the point - why the f*ck can't we do that?!

Joey Barton and Tony Adams would be a marriage made in heaven.

Surviving Gazza, TV documentary tonight at 10pm on Four

Yeah, it's one-sided, but it's a starkly depressing story which I can't see any good reason why shouldn't be told. What a nightmare personality to have to cope with as a dad or a husband. Sad for all involved. -

Youth and hunger are worthless when you have a manager who is a clueless dumbfuck.

I support them because of their fantastic work off the pitch, working in the community, giving kids opportunities for training and recreation on a scale that shames the bigger clubs. Oh yes. And they're at the top of the Highland League, too.
-
Actually, I've been thinking now would be as good a time as any to switch allegiance to a more successful team, without all the melodrama... ...like, for example, Deveronvale.

A man who is tired of Newcastle United is tired of living.

For me, Martin O'Neill and Aston Villa continue to impress and inspire in equal measure. In terms of how a club should be owned, managed and run they are fast becoming a paradigm.

What's the use of worrying? Just a waste of energy. You can only deal with things once they've happened. And none of us has any control over how things will pan out with transfers.
-
It seems that there needs to be a bit of Given take on things. There's little point Harpering on about it, perhaps Shay's just being Krul to be kind?

Bilic at West Ham would make more sense, really.

part of Givens quote ‘When he signed a new five-year contract in 2006 it was on the basis that the club would challenge for major honours, but on the present evidence all that he can see ahead with the turmoil on and off the pitch is a battle for survival." Pm me about it if you like, but I can't see the point. This, in my opinion, is what this is all about, however you and one or two others might wish to deny it. Well done. That quote beautifully summarises my main point: that this shambolic regime looks to be the final straw for Given, but that he's been consistently let down by Shepherd as well as Ashley & Co.

My position is clear. If you want to take it to PM, I'll happily do so.

I love the hysterical way NE5 deliberately misinterprets and misrepresents other people's comments or arguments, time after time after time. Brilliant. Just like King Cnut, as the tide gently laps away at his feet. It's either comic genius, on a scale not seen here since if heady days of Ridzuan, or it's something else much more amusing...but unintentional.
