It's easy to be clever in hindsight, but this one in particular @Froggy ouch You got a fair bit of bites though which may have been the main objective with the post at the time tbf.

I'd like to keep Trippier for the coming season too, primarily as a rotation option for Livramento. Don't agree that we should keep him due to lack of experience in the squad though. We have one of the oldest squads in the league. Only "beaten" by West Ham and Fulham. This is from an article posted 26th March: https://theanalyst.com/2024/03/oldest-and-youngest-premier-league-teams-2023-24/

Offering the exact amount a selling club is asking for isn't exactly the way you'd want your own club to handle transfers either though, is it? They started at 40+5 (?) and have upped it to 45+5(?). If Man Utd are intent on getting him, I imagine they'll get him in the end for 55/60.

Similar situation here. If the joined date on my profile is correct, I'll have been on here for more than half of my life in 2 years, which is also when I turn 40 Guess that's part of the appeal to this place that there are many in the same boat rather than discussing Newcastle/football/life with fedora tipping redditors or randoms/bots on twitter. I find myself caring a lot less about transfers now than before too, but I think a big part of it is that I have much more faith in the people at the club doing the right thing.

There's no way Forest pays 35m for Anderson unless we overpay for their player so you shouldn't be shocked at all.

Overrated on the back of a decent end to the season playing for a team in great form. If it was between him and Minteh I'd easily take a chance on Minteh ending up being the better player. Good luck in Germany.

Nice. Good riddance to "grey wolves"

Maybe I'll tune in for the penalties in the semi final in their next game.

Not entirely true. He left Dortmund to join us in order to play regularly. He was playing really well here, got an injury that ruled him out for a long time, didn't get games when he returned so he left to get regular game time somewhere else. Don't think he would have left (at that point at least) if he was playing. Turns out he 100% made the right decision.

Hope Switzerland finally flushes the last turd of the tournament. Criminal that England has gotten this far already.

I'm a sucker for obnoxiously confident people with below average self reflection like Mourinho, Bendtner and Zlatan. He's gone up in my estimation after this statement.
-
He's shown real growth as a person, not only player, since that time. Ref. how he handled the backlash after getting subbed at the end of 22/23 season, and how he's conducted himself since then on and off the pitch. He's a very ambitious and driven person, so if he thinks he has a better chance of achieving his goals at his boyhood club I think we'd be naive to think he wouldn't press for a transfer. That being said, I don't think he'd behave the same way he did at Everton. He'll handle it more professionally, and if a potential transfer is blocked I fully expect him to respect the clubs decision and continue to progress together with us.

I used an average annual wage of 50k as an estimate which would basically cover a player on 240k a week which is ca. 1 more Martial in the squad.

It just irks me real bad when big wealthy companies want to make people redundant. If it's done through not hiring new people and letting the work force naturally reduce itself due to people retiring, quitting for other opportunities or offering lucrative voluntary severance packages then fine, but sacking people who may not want to quit because they enjoy it there and/or have to make massive changes to their way of life as a result...nah. Fuck him to hell.
-
I was actually thinking the exact opposite that it's a cunts move for very little gain
-
Sacking 250 staff would what...cover the annual wage of 1 decent player?
-
That 3-1 victory over Liverpool right after Pardew arrived was probably the best performance of his life.
-
He hasn't signed up for this then? Fairly clear he's a class player, even if Man Utd are interested in him. https://www.change.org/p/keep-de-ligt-wir-wollen-de-ligt

Worth it to get an end to the awful gardening jokes on here alone. If we got compensation on top of it then great.
-
Don't think many players would want to join us if they knew we'd hire a fucking PI to dig into their lives either

If you decide to believe we got the upper reported price for him while simultaneously decide to believe we paid the lowest reported price for Odyssey I guess you could argue it was a good deal. Was fuming over this on Saturday and yesterday, but if the club was seriously expecting a 10 point deduction if they breached PSR I have more understanding for how desperate the situation was. I was thinking we'd be risking at most 4 points based on Forests deduction.

I'd prefer we acted ethically and didn't violate peoples privacy regardless of how much money we're talking about.

Someone has to be available on short notice for the hilarious training pitch segments our social media group will be posting on youtube throughout the season. One year deal. Sorted.
