I think we will get offers, West Ham were sniffing around in January and I expect better clubs to be looking at him as someone that has a lot to offer. Might not be a complete disaster, if someone spunked big money on him however, despite how much I like him and how crucial he is to our attacking drive. We are probably too dependent on him, if we could use the funds received wisely to invest in other players that lessen reliance on one single player then that's probably a good thing, not that there is any guarantee that a) we'll be able to use the incoming funds and b) we'll be able to spend it wisely enough to replace what Shelvey gives us with a couple of players.

That is a very good point. Shelvey seems to instinctively know where Gayle will be, he needs him in the team to play at a level we need him to. With any new striker that comes in there will be a period to adapt if Shelvey is still the driving force behind our attacking play next season (I'm not convinced he will be).

Sad isn't it. Barring injury the only NUFC player at the World Cup will be Mitro. I'm biased as hell but I would have both Shelvey and Jamaal on the plane if I were Southgate.

It's going to be an interesting summer for them. I'm assuming the parachute payments for next year are already spent on paying off the debt, realisation may hit him when he takes over and finds out that he has insufficient income to cover the current wage bill, along with paying for past transfers they'll still be liable for. He'll need to sell, Borini and Khazari will go a few million, that'll help, McNair may garner some interest but when clubs look at his injury record they will be reluctant to commit more than a low ball offer. No one is touching Catermole or Rodwell. Oviedo, NDong, Kone, McGeeady, Love and goodness knows who else are not going to get too many takers, so if they want them off the books they will probably have to give them away. Guess they can still hold out for the 18 million they expect for Asoro, lol. Luckily for him, he's going into a situation where he has a knowledgeable and patient fan base who are famous for their loyalty, will stand by the team whatever and will do everything in their power to help the club towards success.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44064957 That must be why the cookie crumbled at Sunderland, he wasn't from there. That's such shite, if they had paid any attention to the job he did a Sunderland, he couldn't motivate a similar group of old underperforming pros, if he gets another job anywhere, expect that club to struggle, he was abject at the Mackems, I know he walked into a bad situation but he did nothing to lift them out and in the end the task wasn't that difficult with one of the lowest points totals to survive since they went to 46 games. Harsh on Carvalhal, they had 17 points when he took over and looked dead a buried, he went on a great run and looked safe, then hit a tough run of fixtures, couldn't get a win and confidence started to erode to the point where they were before he took over. Clement laid terrible foundations there for him. There will be slim pickings for them in a replacement, Carvalhal knows that division, not sure they will get any better. Certainly not if they go with Coleman.

Still can't get over how Alfie Mawson got a call up before this lad, was a rock tonight.

I actually quite like that, something a little different.

Was a vital signing, gave us so much on the counter attack and scored a few crucial goals. I have a feeling we won't get him on a permanent basis though because Mike Ashley is still in charge
