  1. Is it a release clause though or an already stated compensation fee ?

Which ironically is also stating that West Ham are bigger than SAFC.... which I am sure they will dispute (3 league titles in 1900s, Bank of England Club, 6IAR, 9-1 FTM etc) There is only one measurable that currently puts West Ham as a bigger club than us and that's current attendance, they've impressively sold out over the last two seasons in the stadium they hate. But honestly it's not even a debate outside of that small point.
  3. 6 million to get a world class manager is absolute peanuts, shouldn't even come into the equation for any serious bidder. Wonder what happens if we say no to their approach, tampering laws I don't think will allow them to talk to him, dunno if the 6 million thing works in another direction, like a release clause for a player, if they meet it we may not have the option to say no.
  4. I think he burnt a few bridges there, and what will also work against him is the immediate job Martinez did when he replaced him. The style of play transformed and put into perspective for their fans how dire the football was under Moyes. After having to put up with Fat Sam football for best part of last season, they are not going to take too kindly to the return of Moyes's brand.
  5. I wouldn't want him to do well, and I certainly would question his judgement in going there.
  6. There is a ton of it... ffs, drama queen righto...
  7. Wow what happened to this thread, so much unnecessary bed whetting since I woke up and logged on this morning ? Ian and few other sane folks have mentioned it. But he's not going anywhere yet, he might still go, but that'll only happen if he's not given the assurances he needs, those talks are no where near over yet. People need to seriously calm down. Rafa won't deny any potential link, in fact he'll probably encourage it as it strengthens his hand. We'll find out soon enough, within the next couple of weeks or so I would think, as to how far apart the two parties are. Oh and on West Ham, they promised to have someone in place in 10 days (that's not going to work for Rafa's timetable). They are run but two people who give Ashley a run for his money in the cunt stakes. The fan base is rabid and what connection they had to the community was severed when they moved. Their biggest gripe with the current owners is a lack of ambition and investment. Although they obviously made the decision to not stick with Moyes, apparently he was also a little wary of continuing on as he wasn't in control of the transfer dealings there. It's really a poor fit for Rafa.
  8. They are not ambitious, that's the biggest gripe with their fans, here's one quote from their forum: Didn’t they spend a fair whack over the summer ? I read that link I posted for net spend above wrong they actually made 11 million in transfer fees last year !! Bought Anatovic for 20 Million but sold Ayew for the same price. The 16 million for Hernandez was covered by a bunch of sales including 7 million for Ashley Fletcher ffs boro
  9. Plenty of other managers have been touted for other jobs and other clubs have approached their club for them, without it going as spectacularly off the rails as Watford did, they were 4th at one point I think, in the end they were in a relegation fight.

  11. Wow Ian, talking sense, after his Southgate love affair, that's good to see You nailed that dude, all on what Ashley does.
  12. Did you read any of the posts above ? Do you know anything of the West Ham Situation? FFS man. West Ham are in no more of a state than we were when he came here first. He likes projects. He could easily turn them into a top 6 side with the right backing. He also didn't have a job when he came here, he didn't have to leave a situation where the fans adore him, with a year left on his contract. He would also be leaving a one club city for a club that competes with about 30 others for attention, something he is very very big on.
  13. They had an 11 million net spend last season, that's half of even ours !! https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/west-ham-united/transfers/verein/379

And just in case both Walker and Trippier go down we have Arnold backing up the back up, it's a ridiculously lopsided squad.
  16. It's not about going to West Ham for a better situation (which it is most definitely not, those owners are worse than Ashley and equally as tight fisted) it about him jumping the ship at this stage.Contract talks have only just begun, he's going to give Ashley the chance to offer him what he wants in terms of transfer budget, I would be confident of that happening even if it were a better club than West Ham knocking on the door. If Ashley doesn't come through, then he will start considering other options, but he'll get a lot better job prospects than West Ham United and he won't want to go to an identical situation in terms of clueless owners.
  17. No doubt Silva will go to Everton, and no doubt he'll have them playing some great stuff at the start of next season. Can they keep it up though ? We've no real clue if Silva can sustain his early success at clubs, as he's not stuck around. His Watford team this year was falling apart before he was sacked. Think for a club with Everton's ambitions it's a bit of a gamble.

Yeah I didn't really find that one too funny. He's been a lot better of late, but why do Wenger again. ? He could have done a round up of the season just ended, could have still had a frame in about Wenger. Got bored stopped reading it past the first couple of slides.

I was at the SJP game, honestly if I were them I wouldn't let that one die either. We had had the much better season finished some 6 points ahead of them in third, the first leg we got a good result 0-0 with Budgie saving a last minute dodgy pen they got. It looked all set for us to finish the job at home, we had a lethal strike force in Quinn and McGhee, but we just didn't turn up on the evening and all I remember about that night was that fat thighed bastard Gabbiadini killing us. In recent memory it probably the most important game between the two sides and they took all the bragging rights. Still annoys me to this day that they went up that year despite them getting beat in the playoff final by Swindon.

Which two players have they got at the World Cup? The Don and who else? Yeah Khazri and Oviedo.
  21. Why? He’s a replica of Shelvey with same weaknesses. Yeah that would be a huge gamble of a deal, remeber Cairney has not played at the PL level. They could use him to sweeten the pot a little, but there would be money coming our way too in that kind of deal. Goal scorers always coming at a premium, and remember Cairney is 5 or so years older than Mitro too, with no PL experience. Sessegnon is the one I would be pulling the stops out for but unlikely we could get him. I would go after his brother too.

without looking surely that would be the case for most major nations with a strong national league (germany, spain, italy etc.)? I doubt there is another nation that will pick 18 of it's players exclusively from the top 6 of it's own domestic league and have aspirations of going far in the competition. We are shit from top to bottom and hope the big teams can prop us up as we have nothing to offer from decent foreign teams and don't trust players outside the top 10. Embarrassing really. 17 of the Spain squad that won the 2010 WC were from their top six. They've not announced their latest squad but the last one had 15 in. Don't really understand the correlation. To back that up further Bayern Munich have 7 players in the German squad, if we take 6/18 we get 3, so the point doesn't really hold. The most successful clubs will naturally provide the bulk of a nations player base. There is nothing wrong with that. The problem we've had with England squad's is that for too long it's been a case of if you can get a game (now and again) for Manure or Chelsea or whoever, you get a call up, rather than looking at the player with a critical eye and comparing him to other players playing at clubs outside the limelight. Arnold, Rose, Stones and Loftus- Cheek are prime examples of that in the current squad.

I just can't stand Maguire - I must be the only person who thinks he's just s big useless lump lol Cahill has been a very good player - sadly his best days are long gone Stones and Jones are error ridden Shudder You're not alone, I don't get the love fest either.

I can almost predict the World Cup for us. 0-0 versus Tunisia, 1-0 versus Panama. 0-2 versus Belgium. Draw Spain or Germay or somone else world class in the r16 get beat 1-2. It's just so predictable.
