  1. Doesn't Ashley have that policy of paying all money upfront for transfers?

I think Newcastle is probably the only club that does that, and it's probably a reason why we always look to pay a little less, and why we seemingly end up with decent deals when we eventually get round to buying players.

Could also be a reason why Ashley is so petty over paying a little more in some instances.

  2. Steve Bruce: I hate this game

STEVE BRUCE insists he "despises" every minute of bossing a Premier League clash.

Brucie certainly hated the 5-1 thumping Newcastle gave his Sunderland side last season.

But as the Mackems chief looks for revenge today, he admits watching his players walk out fills him with dread.

He said: "I have the best job in the world until Saturday afternoon and then I despise every minute of it - unless you win!

"No matter what derbies there are, and I played in a few, there is nothing quite like this.

"And the fact we have been above them for three seasons in a row is a big thing."

Recalling their trouncing on Tyneside, Bruce added: "It was the worst result I've had in 30 years in football."

They did redeem themselves with a 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light in January.

Bruce declared: "You learn from the experience and come out fighting."

    Hmm ... so after losing 5 - 1, a 1 -1 draw at home is redemption? Okay.

  3. If we do these good things, he'll sell off the best players in January and next summer though. Rinse and repeat.

Wow ... how do you even enjoy following the team, I mean you clearly don't, so what's the point? You've pretty much decided that no matter what happens, it's all going to end up badly anyway. Depressing!

So even if Newcastle finish 6th you've already decided it wouldn't even be a good thing really, because all the good players will then be sold. I'm sorry but that's some next level doom mongering right there. Damn.

  4. I wonder how much his club value him at...

The Maiga/Brown partnership was responsible for half of their goals last season. They'll still have Boudebouz and Martin, but can't see them being at all willing to let Maiga go... If he's the difference between a good run in the Europa League (and qualifying again/pushing on for CL), then I suspect we'll need to offer more than 8 million euros.

It's a shame seeing them being dismantled like this, they played some superb football last season - hopefully they'll keep hold of at least two of last seasons front four.

I hope we sign this guy after all this, as we've put him in an awkward position with his current club now, and he desperately wants to come here.

Stop messing everyone about and pay the money. Terrible stuff from the club.

    Which one, or both?

    Eh? Modibo Maiga.

'The club' ... as in Sochaux or NUFC?

    Terrible stuff from NUFC.

  5. I wonder how much his club value him at...

I'm thinking it can't be much more, as the club did allow us to talk to the player, and so they likely felt we were somewhat close to their valuation. I would imagine, anyway.

Unless ofc, they didnt let us talk to him at all and we've been a bit naughty here...

Well they haven't complained so I don't think that's the case. I'm also hoping that if we had been naughty, then Maiga would have had the basic intelligence not to have brought it up!

  6. If they think these guys are too expensive then look for other left backs that are int he range of what you want to pay.

It does seem that whatever the price for any player, the club just wants to get away with paying less. It's all quite petty.

  7. They're making it sound as though Pardew is the one pushing for Wayne Bridge. The same idea was intimated with supposed interest in Carlton Cole in the last window.

If this is true I'm happy that the Derek and Ashley are so involved in th etype of players we bid for.

Seems Pardew might be another one of those English managers that would do anything for the infamous prem experience player, regardless of how poor the players might be.

    Pretty scary really.

  8. Gibbs is a huge talent.

Not last season he wasn't. After bigging him up a few years, most my Gooner mates were telling me how s**** he was last season when he played.

He battled injuries most of last season. Excellent player. He'll prove it this year. Certainly better than Clichy. Now he was truly s**** last season.

You lose all credibility with nonsense like that.

Okay, well I thought Clichy was awful last year. Numerous errors. I really thing Gibbs has big potential. My opinion. I'll be proved right because I'm really good like that.

  9. Gibbs is a huge talent.

Not last season he wasn't. After bigging him up a few years, most my Gooner mates were telling me how s**** he was last season when he played.

  10. If Walcott's decision making wasn't so poor he'd be a top player.

His decision making and crossing lets him down big time.

He isn't a winger though really?

Pretty much still learning the role, I agree.

Was developed as a striker at Southampton, playing off the last defender, hence his knack for getting into those scoring positions.

  11. Walcott just needs to continue working on his ball control when dribbling and his delivery, and he will be fine. Even with these aspects being quite average he is a huge threat. His movement is excellent.

Has proved over the last season to be a far bigger threat than Arshavin and Rosicky out wide. They both look prettier but just don't threaten enough, and are not as present in the box.
