I am not going "all Neesy" I just think this sounds like many windows before it, I have always been a "wait and see" poster but I am not confident this time for some reason. We seem to be strongly linked to players then it doesn't progress at all. The mail (I think) heavily linked us to Bentley, Pardew mentioned him a few times, next thing we know he is signing for Birmingham on loan without a whimper from us.

 

The Keane link has also gone dead.

 

I think we will be strongly linked to a few more players (Ziani this morning) then it will be ruled out/sign for someone else. Hasn't that already happened with Ziani?

We're a week into the window. There was never any confirmation from Pardew that he wanted Keane or Bentley. Just take it easy.

Didn't he say at the start of the week he wanted a striker by Friday? I think we are in for a typical transfer window of plenty of promise but f*** all coming to fruition then those who didn't want Larsson, Bentley, Keane etc.. wishing we had actually signed them.

Why? He's their player they can do what they want with him. Being cup tied will hardly put clubs off.

Goign off of what Pardew said about wanting to get the player in before he was cuptied. Then again, not sure how serious he was about it.

There is a certain denseness about Bendtner a lot of times. Can be a good player though. Not the sharpest tool however.

If Larsson shows up on Birmingham's teamsheet today then it probably won't be him we're after.

Really like this young Arsenal goalie. Looks like the only decent one they have.

Muntari is no world beater, and I'm no fan of his, but it was obvious he was going to be putrid in Italy. Very disciplined league which requires some mental aptitude and good technical ability. He will look much better in the prem, as he did with Portsmouth. Better suits the more open and counter attacking style.

Yup, he's already spent £6 million on Zigic and seemingly gave up on him quite early. Couldn't see past his 6 ft 8 height and thought he'd be dominant in the air I presume. However, that's not Zigic at all. He's actually a pretty tidy player who is far more comfortable with the ball at his feet, and is a bit awkward with the high ball.

Jonas is the only person in the whole team who runs with the ball and takes people on, and there is definitely a huge value in that. Such a shame Routledge just can't find the confidence to go for it more often.

Rangers have accepted a bid from Birmingham for Kenny Miller.

Goodness me. That's pants. Is that the fall back plan after Keane? Seems like it.

Ultimately I think if we get either Larsson or Bentley they will be more suited to the 4-4-2 formation. If the plan is to get a right winger and move Barton inside and have a 3 man midfield of Barton, Nolan and Tiote, then we will need lots pace on each wing. Jonas and Ben Arfa can provide this on the left, and so with Routledge as backup maybe look at another right sided player who is more direct and can deliver good quality who is also fast. Adam Hammill at Barnsley has looked really good. Someone like that maybe.

He's a better version of Ryan Taylor.

Why? Both have the same attributes to their game, but Larsson is better at all of them. Ryan Taylor should be moved on if we sign Larsson.

Because Ryan Taylor is so much worse.

Actually looking at his stats, he doesn't look that good.  7 assists since start of 2008 that is probably worse than even guthrie etc.

Always better to actually watch players play.

He plays for Birmingham. Who exactly do they have to finish off attacking moves? Other than Cameron Jerome, who is okayish, they have nothing. Jerome is usually up top himself chasing long balls down the channels.

I'm just saying. The guy can wait till the summer and can have his pick of clubs after his contract is up. He' been playing every week for Birmingham and doing well. Why on Earth would he then come here on a long deal to be a backup? No chance.
