  1. I know the Huntelaar link is unlikely, but surprised by some of the comments tbh. People not keen because he's supposedly been 'rubbish' at Madrid (not true by the way!) and Milan. Um ... you do understand the kind of players he was in competition with at these clubs right? We've just been promoted from the championship and I'm pretty confident he would be a huge upgrade on what we have.

Wouldn't describe him as a big time charlie discarded from a top club either. Who is then likely to come over for the money and take the piss. He hasn't really gotten a chance at either Madrid or Milan and so will be hungry to prove himself, especially as he is still just 26. Wouldn't be surprised if he would even be willing to take less money just to play. He's going to have to drop down a level in the club he joins next to play more, and so it is likely he will have to do this anyway.

  2. But exactly how good is Huntelaar now?   Not playing much for a Milan attack that was misfiring, and didn't see much if any playing time for Holland. Still probably out of our reach but...

If you had to splash on one player (expensive but fits the required profile)......would you go for Huntelaar?

I wonder how much they would ask for him though. Possibly even loan him with a view to a permanent move. If it was a possibility I think it would be a great move personally. The guy just needs to get on the pitch. Has been mucked about the last few years at both Madrid and AC Milna, both of who bought him when they didn't really need him.

  3. Heard from from a few places we are in talks for a young striker from a European club but not sure if its loan or buy or even if its anyone previously linked. Normally i would file it under 'bullshit' but an editor of another site said there are NUFC officials in Madrid as of yesterday and he is pretty reliable when it comes to other clubs so i guess the two could be linked. :undecided:

Wouldnt be a surprise if it was bollocks or we ended up with an unknown kid like that one QPR had from Real for a season as opposed to anyone we had heard of but we can live in hope that we are trying to address our goalscoring problem.  :frantic:

Could be Salvio (20) or Baldé (19) from Atletico, if there is any truth in it at all.

Getafe is in Madrid isn't it? Juan Albin maybe?

  4. After all the talk of Annan on this board I did keep a close eye on him during the world cup and was very impressed. Apart from being typically dynamic and athletic, what impressed me most was his intelligent use of the ball. Keeps it simple and does very well playing short forward passes to ignite the teams forward play. Really liked him.

Despite what I already knew and liked about him myself, upon reading that 'in a nutshell' description, it just makes me realise that our chances of signing him are slim.

Yeah, pretty much. From what I saw of him I'd be astonished if we had any sort of chance.

  5. Victor Obinna to Stoke

    Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat???!!!  :kasper:

That is just bloody horrific. Pulis and his gladiator head ball will freakin' ruin him. Hope this is bollocks. If he's available we should be looking into it.

    I feel sick.

  7. James Milner had exactly the same said about him but a lot of people thought he would be a lot better in the centre and this proved to be the case and those down sides to his games weren't shown up as much.

From what people in the know about Gosling have said he does sound a fair bit like Milner (not quick but will run all day, likes a shot, decent passer of the ball, not really a right winger etc..)

    That's enough for my w*** bank :D

It's an interesting comparison you make with Milner. Good thing that Gosling already sees himself as more of a central player too.

  8. Amazing that Germany have played both Cacau and Gomez ahead of Keisling this tournament. Don't quite get that.

Yeah, Keisling has had a great season aswell.

In fact you could even argue he should have been in ahead of Klose  considering the season just past. Fair play to Klose though.

  9. Not sure if already mentioned, but apparently Man Utd have made an enquiry for Sneijder.. Inter do not want to sell though..

i was really shocked that sir alex didn't try to get him and or van der vaart as part of the ronaldo deal last summer, or maybe he did and the glazer's shot him down?  :dontknow:

Fergie is horrendous in the transfer market. I was stunned he didn't grab Sneijder as part of the Ronaldo deal last summer. I thought it would be a complete no brainer for him to do so. Too late now. Horrible work.

  11. Jonathan De Guzman has apparently been linked to us. Fits the bill, 22 year olds, attacking midfielder, out of contract.......was linked with the likes of Arsenal last season so i'm sure there'll be a few clubs in for him.

Not necessarily, as he had quite a couple of long term injuries last year and so he pretty much dissapeared off the radar. Is fully fit now though, and it could be a chance for us to grab him. Hope it's true.

  12. I know I am very late with this, but my goodness what a w***** Pedro is

How does he play ahead of Silva and Navas for goodness sake?!

Torres had to smack him right there on the pitch.

He did actually get kicked when he went back outside, should have given it though, yeah. Think he's going to be right up there with a few more years. Germans looked a bit tired at the end, Spain did well to tire them, they better win the final now!

He should never even got as far to be attempting to go back outside!

One of the most unbelievably selfish things I have seen on a pitch.

I was willing Germany to smash one in after that. Would have loved to have seen his weasel face then. What a prick.

  13. I know I am very late with this, but my goodness what a wanker Pedro is

  14. Germany's Mesut Ozil has ridiculed England for saying they were bored between games in South Africa. Ozil said: "If you find the greatest tournament on earth boring, then you probably shouldn't be there."

    The man has a point!

  15. McFadden is good man, albeit inconsistent.. We certainly need a player with good technique and flair upfront.. In general our attacking style is very predictable

I don't usually like players who don't have pace but McFadden's a clever player and he'd be much better playing behind the main striker than Nolan in a 4-5-1. Worth a punt IMO.

McFadden would be far more useful behind a main striker with pace though. Not sure he would work well in a partnership with Carroll.
