I see twitter is full of Man Utd fans mocking the price we're paying for this and saying how Ashworth is a genius etc - have the morons forgot some of the prices they've paid recently?!

They paid £59 million for an 18 year old centre back with a year's experience in France, that was in the last year of his contract, and that wanted to join Real Madrid.

This to replace their English £80 million centre back that they can't shift, who should be in his prime.

The kid came in and has right away picked up an injury that is going to keep him out for months. And still they are running off at the mouth and tempting fate.

Looking forward to seeing how both deals play out.

gutted if we don’t get a winger

Mohamed Simakan is really good at right back as well as centre back, which could be very handy with Trippier leaving.

Can't lie, if the Guehi deal doesn't come together, we'd end up with an excellent player if it's Simakan or Tapsoba.

A Gnonto bid from Everton was knocked back for around 30 million I think. About three weeks ago.

Leeds have raked in some decent money this summer for Rutter and Gray.

Perhaps they allow us an initial loan for Gnonto.

They've loaned Harrison to Everton two years in a row now.

I give up rationalising fees these days but that sounds like an excellent deal for a great player who will make an impact for them. Sad he's going to that club but will look forward to seeing him back in the Prem.

    Last year of his contract.

Once that comes around fees get very cheap.

He'd have been free to negotiate from January for a move on a free next season.

The cheek of these lot

That's actually quite sad to watch, considering how they ushered him out of the club.

And then putting out a video like this afterwards is extra crazy.

Here's an idea, use Oddy as number 2 cannot be worse than dubs.

Dubs should be loaned out if we can't sell him.

Didn't get to see enough of how Oddy handled crosses into the box, set pieces, or shots at him from distance, during the pre season.

However, I thought he looked very confident kicking, or receiving the ball with his feet. Also noticed he did a good job of sweeping and looked more competent at it than Dubravka who stays stuck to the goal line.

I was hoping he'd have shown enough in training, in other areas, to be number 2 ahead of Dubravka, but not sure that's been the case.

Ideal world we move on Longstaff and get a CM with a bit of versatility in.

Longstaff is basically just gonna be Tonali's backup you'd imagine, someone who can play a couple of spots would be more useful. Even a DM, with Bruno occasionally being used further forward.

    Doubt it'll happen though.

Sounds like the guy we were linked with this morning.

We were talking about captain as in wearing the armband. However you are spot on about leaders and we definitely need more if Tripps is going. Guehi would help fill that void.

Trippier leaving certainly makes this deal a lot more valuable.

Think this is going to be the maddest window for a while. Not completely sure why, maybe the PSR (and Chelsea).

I think everyone is being far more stringent, and waiting as long as possible ble to get the best deal. This last week could be mental.

People saying we shouldn't have turned down the Bayern bid do remember how absolutely fucked our injury crisis was in December and January right? We'd have been mental to sell him at the time, and would have caused uproar if we did given the situation we where in

From what I recall Tino had come in and was doing well and Krafth was back from injury.

I remember thinking we should sell as it just felt like the right time, as the money was good, and it would have been a fantastic club for him to join, especially with Kane there.

Ah well, sad news. Can only hope we get more than a paltry fee then. He was borderline world-class for us only a year ago and a proper leader on the pitch.

Him leaving does leave us short on quality back-ups to Tino. The problem is, for whatever reason, I have this blind-spot when it comes to Krafth. No matter how many good performances he puts in, I can’t shake the perception I have of him not being good enough to be in a CL-chasing Premier league squad, an injury away from the first team. Probably a bit unfair, I know.

Yeah, feel very uneasy about right back now. Particularly because Tino is one that will pick up some injuries.

Aye he raved about Dyche on one of those podcasts. Near where he’s from, better chance of first team football, Pickford one of his best mates, fresh start after personal drama. All makes sense. Would prefer he wasn’t at Everton but best of luck to him, should always be appreciated here. Wish he’d lifted our first trophy.

Fair enough then. That all makes sense.

Everton have to cough up some money though. We need every bit we can get.

I wonder if this prompted the news yesterday that we would go for a RW even if Miggy stays ? That way Murphy could cover RB if needed.

Trippier was essentially providing the creativity down the right, and so makes a right winger more important without that luxury.

Not necessarily, but he’s not daft. He’ll be able to see what’s coming.

    Yeah, I guess.

At his age is it that bad transitioning to a squad role?

Especially if the alternative is playing for Dyche, in that awful Everton team?

Will be a cracking bit of business by palace mind, obviously we aren’t keen on Parish but he will have gotten a hell of a fee out of us.

Parish is doing the right thing by his club, and the fee is justifiable to some extent, from a Palace point of view. Just wish he'd stay off camera, running his mouth about it.

At the end of the day, Palace were smart enough to sign him off Chelsea while everyone else was scratching their arse, and allow him the opportunity to reach the level he has.

Now they get to reap the benefits if someone wants to sign him.

Like I say, maybe I don’t watch enough football. And Palace are definitely a club I avoid watching as they are an absolute nothing club on every level. And their home atmosphere is easily the most irritating in the league, which makes the TV experience insufferable, so if they are on the TV I definitely switch the channel. So yeah, it’s not that surprising that I don’t know much about Guehi.  But I still have no recollection of his name being mentioned by anyone I know, before the Euros. I can’t help but get Stephane Guivarch vibes over this one, I’m afraid.

Fair enough, appreciate the honesty

I actually really want us to sign him now, due to some of the nonsense I've been hearing about this deal.

I've just been sat here watching some twat exclaim that surely Chelsea, Liverpool or Spurs step in and make a move, as he is that level of player.

Bloody top 6 Sycophants man. Just so pathetic.

  17. 10 minutes ago, Wandy said:

They didn’t have FFP to contend with though. I’m not convinced by this one at all. Maybe I don’t watch enough football but before the Euros I hadn’t even heard of him. And in the Euros he didn’t stand out as anything special for me whatsoever. It does like he is now going to be coming here though so I will be delighted to be proven wrong.

Contrary to popular belief, every good footballer isn't only at the 'top 6' clubs.

Seemingly these are the only matches most people watch. And then they complain when these clubs throw their weight around like they are more important than everyone else!

This is a huge annoyance of mine. Football fans are just as culpable for these clubs and their fans being so insufferable.

Nearly a million followers so maybe legit. I wouldn’t be against another CM personally. We lack depth in quality imo.

I really want a legit option to play in the 6 position, behind Bruno. Probably one that is a bit more defensive minded too.

It looks like that's what this guy is, as this was posted earlier today. Won't be a big fee either. Probably similar to the Osula deal, if that much.
