  1. Brimming with confidence now, and that's all he ever needed to be an effective player.

Done incredibly well to make himself a useful and contributing squad player, and it's part of the reason things have gone quiet regarding an additional wide right player.

  2. Can't believe you're using stats to compare Isak to Martial and Garnacho man

I love digging into stats, but my God, the eye test is a thing. Try watching some more games!

Villa had no problem to find space between our lines. I´m a bit suprised we didnt seem to adjust that. But fair play to Villa, some really crips passing.

For all the love, Burn really is the weak link. Upgrade there and we cooking!

Dan Burn man. Despite his limitations there's something I really appreciate about having him in the team.

Always makes his present felt somehow physically when engaging attackers and pushes people around on set pieces.

I appreciate the guy still, although at some point an upgrade there will indeed be necessary.

  4. I remember watching a documentary with the late Vialli, where he was talking about how much he loved joining Chelsea and the Premiere League in general.

He said in Italy the environment is a lot more intense and serious and when he came over he was taken back by how much more fun and banter everyone had with each other, coaches and manager included. Found it refreshing and it took some of the pressure off.

The whole thing about Tonali's demeanour always reminds me of this

Expect him to eventually really settle in and open up more, especially once he learns the language too.

Funny thing is Isak seemed a bit reserved initially too and now he is so different and seems to be absolutely loving it.

  5. I used to love the Ancelotti Milan team back in the day, when they had the central midfield three of Pirlo, Gattuso and Ambrosini.

We've somehow ended up with a midfielder that is some sort of hybrid of all three.

Over the moon. What a start for him man.

  6. Even just this summer I was still hearing other clubs fans saying we will need to eventually get a higher profile manager before we can really compete.

Found that infuriating. They really can't see what this genius of a man is putting together.

He's going right to the top.

  7. Watching the highlights yet again.

    This guy's passing is outstanding.

The ball in for Tolani for what would have been his second was fantastic.

Also was the one to play Miggy in behind when he should have rolled across for Isak.

Sees a pass this guy. Very underated part of his game.

I can see why some people may consider Barnes boring but when you look at his goal involvements today he's just efficient, beautiful in it's simplicity.

First goal took a bullet pass in one touch out of his feet allowing him to play a perfectly weighted pass to lay a goal on a plate for Wilson.

Second goal he gets the ball 40 yards out, in 2 touches he's at the 6 yard box never needing to break stride and ensuring that he's able to get a clean strike away that has enough power that even a touch from the keeper can't keep out.

I think if you put ASM in those scenarios at least one would result in a missed opportunity. That's the evolution of the side in a nutshell, we don't need a winger to create something out of nothing anymore, the team creates now, we just need someone to get in the right positions and make it count when they do.

Nothing boring about him at all!

Was exciting every time he got in behind with his runs. Love his movement off the ball.

I know my stuff KaKa. I watch a lot of football. Stats will always be used to argue points. And stats are important.

You say "that one season" though. What about last season when Isak was the best thing since sliced bread but had a worse goal contribution rate per 90 than Anthony Martial? ;)

    I never lose.

Stats are always relative. Especially as he had scored around 20 the season before prior to the change in setup at Sociedad.

Anyway ... Just watching him, especially for Sweden, and his combination of physical gifts and skillset, the uncertainty around him was perplexing.

Ultimately though, we are going to benefit big time, and so I'm definitely not complaining.

Froggy said we overpaid for him iirc and then man u go and spend £72m on some danish lad

Froggy was just looking at how many he scored that one season.

Doubt he ever properly watched him play before.

Don't think Kane has touched the ball since he came on, has he?

He's showing for it but these Bayern attacking mids just want to dribble into cul-de-sacs. Bayern look awful.

The lad looks mustard. Mentally switched on, can finish himself but knows when to lay it off to ensure the chance is converted. He'll be involved in so many goals this season if he stays fit, already looks a snip at £38m. End product and decision making looks 'off the scale' good, goals and assists in full flow already :)

Wasn't there was some character on here saying we shouldn't be buying relegated players [emoji38]

Think it's a key strategy under the right circumstances. Really glad we got him. Looks such a seamless natural fit for how we play.

Good summary. Amazing to me that the big clubs in Spain weren't on him more, despite 21/22 not being his best statistically. Can't believe the talent and ability he has, huge asset this season and with a proper pre-season and no lingering injuries, his potential is frightening.

I'm forever grateful they all dropped the ball man.

You just had to watch how slow a tempo Sociedad played to see why he wasn't more explosive there. They just didn't get the ball forward to players in space like that.

Everytime you'd see him for Sweden in a more direct team, he looked an absolute terror.

Just a perfect fit for a more open fast paced league and style.

I hate discussing player values, feels proper reductive. But this lad is conservatively worth twice what we paid and is up there with Osimhen, even though they're not quite the same type of striker.

I said recently that if he stays fit this season he will show that he is utransferable, because it would take impossible money.

Which striker has his mix of height, speed, strength, balance, dribbling, technique, finishing and ice cool composure?

Just needs a full season and the numbers that come with that.

Our recruitment has been bonkers and shows no signs of slowing down.
