  1. What gives you the idea EVERY fan wants him?

Doesn't it just make you sick?

I am staying out of this thread. It is infuriating me.

Arsenal have Wenger, Man U have Ferguson, Liverpool have Rafa Benitez, Tottenham  have Juande Ramos, Man City have Sven Goran Erikkson ... but yeah let's give Alan Shearer a go on the off chance that he's half decent.

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!!!

You think he could tussle with those guys tactically with absolutely no experience.

What kind of goals do we have here people? Are we really aiming for Europe and eventually the Champions League with Shearer at the helm?

    Think about it please!

  2. This is terrible! I know people admire the guy but come on!

He's already talking about passion and galvanizing the dressing room. Whatever man!!!

As if that's all it comes down to. What kind of players will he sign though? What kind of tactical ability does he have? Will he be impartial to his best pal Mickey Owen?

There's a lot more to it than just passion. I would have been more convinced if he had talked more about his abilities rather than going for the emotional and sentimental stuff.

How pathetic would we look if he came in and looked clueless? Dangerous road this one.

  3. Can you never admit that a player does not want to go to Tottenham instead of making bullshit up?

Well, if it was a choice of the scum or us,  most with ambition would be headed for the dark star, but I was told he was looking for £80k.  As a said, that's too rich for Spurs' salary structure.

Journo on a Spurs site is saying Diarra to Pompey tomorrow, £5.5m and £60k wages.  Another one  would have loved at WHL even if he was a scum reject.

How many Arsenal regulars are on £80k per week like?

A few apparently.  Fabregas is the top earnerrumoured to be on £120k which had been Henry's salary, Toure and Gallas are both £90/100k, Hleb is £80k, there are very few who are poorly paid..  New shiny stadium, usually buy players for peanuts and sell them for a lot, they can easily afford to pay top dollar if they want to.

    You are a joker sir.

  4. I think this is out of order from Shearer.

If he has been told he isn't going to be considered this time around then why come out and state that you want the job?

It only creates a tense situation. This is all everyone is going to be harping on about now, especially the media, it's like Shearer is trying to force the owner's hand.

I don't like this at all. It's not fair.

The last thing we need is the owners bringing in someone they didn't really want in the first place.

  5. Didier Deschamps quit as coach of AS Monaco 16 months after leading the team to the final of Europe's elite Champions League.

Deschamps resigned after the club slipped to 15th in the 20-team French first division standings. Monaco lost, 2-0, at home to Rennes on Sunday, its fourth loss in seven matches.

    omg.

After they sold his best players and didn't give him the finances to bring anyone else in. The dude was out of there.

No way he would come in from the Russian league asking for that. Whoever told you that is lying to you.

You guys really need to get over yourselves.

If Berbatov came in and was happy to take £35,000 or whatever what the hell makes you believe this crap! Secondly if he is on his way to Arsenal I guarantee he isn't going to get that there. They don't throw that kind of money around ever.

  7. I like the fact he's a bit of a tough guy too. No nonsense.

Man ... this is sexy. Oh the possibilities. I really hope everything just falls into place now.

All we have to do is finish the season comfortably without getting pulled down any closer to the zone, and then we can just push on from all of this drama.

Freddy is dead! No part of him is here anymore, time for some better days hopefully.

  8. Deschamps is crazy ambitious. I wouldn't be surprised if he was really impressive in his interview with Mort.

His biggest issue at his previous clubs was control over signing players, which is why he wanted to get a premier league job, as he felt that the premier league clubs gave their managers the most control.

At Monaco they let Morientes, Giuly and Evra leave after that succesful campaign. At Juventus they tried to force Tiago and some other player on him, who he didn't want.

He's got a world class football mind which is half the battle.

Wasn't afraid to tell Juve to f*** off either.

That's the thing. The guy has got principles. He doesn't hang around if people mess him about. He could be excellent if we really back him and support him, which Mort and Ashley seem like they will do.

This appointment is just sexy. It's fresh, exciting and not obvious. It makes you feel a bit anxious, but the potential for it to be great is there. It would be a nice long term move.

The guy is young and hungry and has been looking for the right conditions without any compromises. He will certainly want to prove a point.

Please God! This is the type of move you would see Arsenal make and not us.

Maybe things are finally changing around here.

  10. I'd have Fred signed up on a deal personally, crakcer player and the ideal foil for Owe/martins, plus his arrival may well give Vids a kick up the arse!

Tiago would be an ideal oan signing but seems he is really unhappy at Juve and needs a quick fix to get outta there!

For the right money again I feel would be a good signing, especially given our current centre mid status! give them 4mil for Tiago and 8 for Fred and let the revolution roll!

Might be a bit risky to give them permanent deals right away, but a decent loan fee as well as looking at a view to a permanent deal should work.

Houllier might be able to pull it off as he is a big name and is actually respected in the game. I imagine both players would want to come too, as they both did well for him at Lyon.
