Apparently wasn't happy he didn't start on Saturday having been around and playing throughout pre season. Can't lie, I was surprised about it too, with Gordon going straight in having come back later, after the Euros.

Ah, I see. Well lets see if he can manage it at Man Utd. He won't have the luxury of bringing through young players without any pressure of winning games. And so a lot of things will need to be right to make it work. And it's going to be a whole different set of expectations. Hope it all goes horribly wrong.

Okay, well we'll see. I just don't want to hear from any Man Utd fan about the Guehi fee. We are paying for a young, established Premier League defender that has captained his club, and who has broken into the England team and played a part in them getting to the Euros final. He is expected to come right into the team. They have paid near the same amount for 'promise' based off one year at Lille in Ligue 1. For a defender that will be third choice behind DeLigt and Martinez to start with. I'm happy with our approach and believe it will have a far more immediate impact.

If any deal works out it's a good deal. Goes without saying. They overpaid when he had a year left, in order to force his club to push him to Man Utd, when he wanted to go elsewhere. So why their fans are going on about the Guehi fee I don't know. They have also done a horrible job of bringing along young talent the last 10 years at least. And so we'll see how this 'most promising young centre back' comes along, after one year at Lille and now joining them.

Wow ... chuffed for him actually. The disrespect he gets is mad. Think he's very much a Simeone and Atletico type player and will do well there. Good for him.

It's exactly that mindset that keeps leading to them being so careless in the market, and signing duds.

They paid £59 million for an 18 year old centre back with a year's experience in France, that was in the last year of his contract, and that wanted to join Real Madrid. This to replace their English £80 million centre back that they can't shift, who should be in his prime. The kid came in and has right away picked up an injury that is going to keep him out for months. And still they are running off at the mouth and tempting fate. Looking forward to seeing how both deals play out.

He's right footed, but is comfortable either side.

Mohamed Simakan is really good at right back as well as centre back, which could be very handy with Trippier leaving. Can't lie, if the Guehi deal doesn't come together, we'd end up with an excellent player if it's Simakan or Tapsoba.

Leeds have raked in some decent money this summer for Rutter and Gray. Perhaps they allow us an initial loan for Gnonto. They've loaned Harrison to Everton two years in a row now.

Last year of his contract. Once that comes around fees get very cheap. He'd have been free to negotiate from January for a move on a free next season.

That's actually quite sad to watch, considering how they ushered him out of the club. And then putting out a video like this afterwards is extra crazy.

Didn't get to see enough of how Oddy handled crosses into the box, set pieces, or shots at him from distance, during the pre season. However, I thought he looked very confident kicking, or receiving the ball with his feet. Also noticed he did a good job of sweeping and looked more competent at it than Dubravka who stays stuck to the goal line. I was hoping he'd have shown enough in training, in other areas, to be number 2 ahead of Dubravka, but not sure that's been the case.

Trippier leaving certainly makes this deal a lot more valuable.

I think everyone is being far more stringent, and waiting as long as possible ble to get the best deal. This last week could be mental.

From what I recall Tino had come in and was doing well and Krafth was back from injury. I remember thinking we should sell as it just felt like the right time, as the money was good, and it would have been a fantastic club for him to join, especially with Kane there.

Yeah, feel very uneasy about right back now. Particularly because Tino is one that will pick up some injuries.

Fair enough then. That all makes sense. Everton have to cough up some money though. We need every bit we can get.

Trippier was essentially providing the creativity down the right, and so makes a right winger more important without that luxury.
