Fair enough then. That all makes sense. Everton have to cough up some money though. We need every bit we can get.
-
Trippier was essentially providing the creativity down the right, and so makes a right winger more important without that luxury.
-
Yeah, I guess. At his age is it that bad transitioning to a squad role? Especially if the alternative is playing for Dyche, in that awful Everton team?
-
You think he was told he'd be backup then?
-
Knew we should have sold him to Bayern at the time. If the best we are getting now is loan offers, that is really unfortunate.
-
Parish is doing the right thing by his club, and the fee is justifiable to some extent, from a Palace point of view. Just wish he'd stay off camera, running his mouth about it. At the end of the day, Palace were smart enough to sign him off Chelsea while everyone else was scratching their arse, and allow him the opportunity to reach the level he has. Now they get to reap the benefits if someone wants to sign him.
-
Fair enough, appreciate the honesty I actually really want us to sign him now, due to some of the nonsense I've been hearing about this deal. I've just been sat here watching some twat exclaim that surely Chelsea, Liverpool or Spurs step in and make a move, as he is that level of player. Bloody top 6 Sycophants man. Just so pathetic.
-
Contrary to popular belief, every good footballer isn't only at the 'top 6' clubs. Seemingly these are the only matches most people watch. And then they complain when these clubs throw their weight around like they are more important than everyone else! This is a huge annoyance of mine. Football fans are just as culpable for these clubs and their fans being so insufferable.
-
I really want a legit option to play in the 6 position, behind Bruno. Probably one that is a bit more defensive minded too. It looks like that's what this guy is, as this was posted earlier today. Won't be a big fee either. Probably similar to the Osula deal, if that much.
-
Well, we can't not go for players we like at higher fees we deem to be worth it, because some fans will be expecting them to be the best players in the world. I remember some moaning about Isak and how much we paid for him, because he 'wasn't a goal scorer', based on one season. And we've made a bunch of other clubs look complete mugs with that deal.
-
Um ... you don't get one of the best defenders in the world for £65 million. No one is expecting that. That's a ridiculous narrative. He's a really good young defender that is established in the league, that should continue to improve, and that should be a great long term partner for Botman.
-
Can see being in and around the first team and featuring with them during pre season has given him even more motivation. So important to give youngsters that are doing well those kinds of opportunities.
-
Newcastle had fallen so far behind, we can't even imagine spending this kind of money on a defender.
-
Looking like we may get both, thankfully. We absolutely need another centre back as the priority though, agreed. However, I think having a right winger that can threaten more is going to have a much bigger impact than many realise. It will give us so much more balance and take some pressure off Gordon on the left. If it can also allow us to have more attacking threat and sustain more attacks, that will also push teams back more, and in turn means less pressure on our defence too. Things breaking down on that right side when Almiron and Longstaff featured together, sometimes led to dangerous counters attacks against us and more last ditch defending.

I remember Howe talking a fair bit about having great leadership and character around the place, and how much that kept standards up and impacted the younger players day to day. He spoke of this in regards to Dummet and Ritchie, and was the reason why had we qualified for Europe he would have kept them on. I think it's a big part of why he is so keen on Guehi, and willing to go so high, especially with both Dummet and Ritchie leaving. Would have also been a big attraction for getting Kelly in too, who also captained Bournemouth. Also looks like Guehi already has a really good friendship with Gordon, which would just be another bonus, especially with Liverpool trying to unsettle him.

Liking the description in this tweet.
-
A young talented backup to Bruno would be fantastic. Still think we need someone in that position.
-
That will come after he joins us, obviously
-
Some of the loaded mag bits were so misinformed, as was Downie. Completely wrong on Disasi when discussing his use of the ball. Petty shocking.
-
Apparently Downie has said ... a name "we've been linked to before" but not 40-50m range; also reporting Geuhi is "quite close"
-
Oh ... did he say the right winger was a project player?
-
it was claimed Forest didn't want to sell earlier in the window, and that they valued him at around £40 million, and so it won't be him, if that info shared is correct. As it said it wasn't someone in the £40 million range. If I had to guess I'd probably say Chiesa, whose price has dropped so slow (latest talk is 15 million euros), that at this point it's probably worth taking a chance, provided he comes through the medical well.
-
There's apparently been interest in Kossonou, and maybe that's where the mixup has stemmed from.
-
We've been linked with him previously too. Another really good defender that has the sort of profile we seem to be after.
-
Okay, understood man. Apologies, as it was more a response to a number of posts rather than you personally, and so I shouldn't have quoted you directly really. It's quite difficult to know what's really going on at the minute, which is a bit frustrating, but it will all soon be much clearer. Let's show a bit more patience. I'm hoping for a positive end too.
