  1. Wow, this is wild.

Can't wait to see what happens next

If Howe comes in I'll get behind him. His next job was always going to be the one to see what he was really made of, so if he does join here's hoping he ends up as more of a Rodgers or Potter.

Be good if we also get a quality DOF that can support him, as I think he would benefit massively from that kind of setup.

Some growing pains at the minute but genuinely still excited to be moving on from the previous era, which has left us in such a terrible state that so much needs sorting.

The consortium has said that part of the reason things have taken a while is that they have been speaking to people to setup the kind of structure Balague is talking about.

I'm sure this is all information that will be provided to Emery hopefully today now. Previous discussions would just have centred around him as a manager I presume.

So, as much as I hate to agree with any of the completely OTT "this is a complete 3-ring shitshow circus" criticisms .... if it transpires that they were set to say yes to all his demands and get him in and somehow he was the last person to be informed of that, that is a bad look. Putting the media cart before the manager horse. Er. Yeah. We'll go with that. Need to not count their chickens before they're hatched.

Still probably not the apocalypse being reported but I guess we'll see.

I think it was more that they had done all the interviews and decided that they were going to go with Emery, and someone in the media got wind off it somehow.

I think the idea was that today was when they were going to confirm with Emery and finalise everything.

Hopefully this doesn’t drag into next week, i would reluctantly give Jones the Brighton game but after that we need someone in.

Should be all sorted today now really. The original report was that things were to be finalized today with Emery coming in for Thursday.

Think Emery was just taken aback because that information had not been relayed to him or Villareal first. Should be able to smooth that all over during communications today now.

The Caulkin tweet is interesting. Being 'deeply pissed off' isn't knocking us back.

Whoever leaked it needs shooting though.

Yeah, they haven't even discussed his salary, and so from his point of view this is still some way off, and so his annoyance would make sense.

However, if he's the guy they want, then this should all be sorted out quite quickly now. Just need to agree his salary and sort the compensation for Villareal.

If a leak as made him change his mind .. then I'm not sure his heart was fully into it.

    Leaks happen all the time

Yeah, if that is all true then we may be dodging a bullet.

Really need to get in someone that is truly excited about the project. It's part of why I liked the Fonz, as it seemed like he was thrilled about the prospect of taking charge.

On the other hand this is all something that should be easy to sort out in further discussions and so we'll find out for certain at some point today if this is going ahead or not.

Can’t see that being the issue he’s worked with them everywhere he has been

Yes, but his experience in England with the model was not ideal. Maybe just wants to ensure that isn't an issue again, and wants clarity of how much of a say he has in the players being signed when they are recommended by the DOF.

Think it will ultimately all get ironed out. The leak actually puts him in a stronger position. Wouldn't be surprised if it came from his side.

  8. If he's completely against the idea of a DOF, maybe will just need reassuring that he will at least have final say on signings.

Think it will all get cleared up tbh.

  9. All seems like a negotiation tactic from Emery's camp tbh.

I think they're trying to get a better offer salary wise, and perhaps regarding some more control over certain areas.

Balague mentioned in his tweet yesterday about a manager needing to have full control, and so perhaps after his stint at Arsenal where players were bought for him, he doesn't want to work with a DOF.

Think they'll be sorting all the final details today now.

I'd be suprised if it was Emery, was banging a lass from up here and blamed her for a dip in Arsenals form - google Emery / Whitewitch...

    My goodness

Does not paint him in a good light at all. I'd be concerned now

Thanks for the DM boss. Very interesting. Keep it between us eh O0

I was told that AVB was also interviewed. Which makes entire sense given that he's very similar to the other candidates mentioned and is also out of work.

I suspect there was/is half a dozen who have been in talks.

Hmmm ... I'll be honest, I've been baffled by the seemingly low amount of speculation regarding him.

Think he's really talented but just hasn't found the right club yet. Good age, available, prem experience and very detail oriented and organised as well.

I'd be happy with him for sure. Also one of the ones that will have me confident of staying up.

Fonseca ain't happening. The media clearly have no clue.

All I know is it's close, and it's not Fonseca. Before people ask for more.

Listen here Guv we're going to need more than that please!

Can you say yay or nay to whether or not its a PFM? If it is I need to start preparing myself for the dissapointment.

Just let us know forrin or not at least.

Good luck to him if he thinks he's gonna get that with Levy in charge.

Absolutely going to be a car crash which will be fun

Levy is watching West Ham's rise, Arsenal look like they're finding their feet again, Chelsea are already dominant, and even little Palace just down the road are looking better than Spurs lately. London's closing in on him

He's shat his pants and gone and offered Conte the world to appear relevant. Once Conte keeps asking for the world it will all blow up eventually. Maybe then Spurs will do what they should have done all along and sack Levy

Can't see Conte risking his profile on us without any sort of European football or a squad with good and elite players in it. (even in the situation you described)

I really don't think Conte is that complicated. He just wants to be able to get the players he wants without any interference. Provided he's allowed to do that, he'll feel confident in being able to compete eventually.

They've become us after Sir Bobby.

Looking for a solution to a problem they didn't really have in the first place, and getting the answer wrong very quickly. Admittedly 10 games is a very short time to panic with a new manager.

Yup, the team used to be so energetic and high tempo and the chemistry between the trio of Kane, Son and Alli was devastating.

Now Dele and Kane are both disillusioned for deifferent reasons and it's just ca complete mess. It's pretty shocking how quickly that whole thing turned.

Mourinho played a big part in that too. Quite happy he wasn't available when we got taken over. That guy can be so toxic, completely destroyed so many of their players' confidence.

  17. 22 minutes ago, Rich said:

They took over two months to replace Mourinho in the summer, mind.

Yeah, the idea Spurs are any type of model to follow is not correct.

They had a fantastic young manager that essentially took the team they have right now to the Champions League final and they binned him off

Everyone kills Dele now, but my God he was right there featuring prominently in that team, and now look at the state of him. Poch was so good at Spurs man, just the perfect fit, and they blew it.

Since then its been a complete farce. Just chasing their own tail.

good article for all the doom merchants.

"We want to take the decision as quickly as possible because there is some urgency but it will not be at the expense of taking the right decision," a source said.

"But the right decision long-term will be the right decision for the short-term as well."

“the view of those at the centre of the black and white storm - the new long-term custodians of Newcastle United - remains unchanged: get this huge decision right rather than make a knee jerk call. The right man, if you will, rather than Mr Right Now.”

Oh, I like that a lot. Great they are looking at someone for the short and long term and no temp managers.

Should have released something like that earlier though. Would have spared a lot of soiled mattresses.
