I saw this elsewhere this morning. It is Stewart Downing talking about Martin O'Neill.

Bruce strikes me exactly in this mould, only problem being he's doing it over ten years later and he's not being given a huge amount of money like MON was, and obviously, no sixth place finishes. That shit does not work any more.

Yeah, time is up on these folks. Really great to see the likes of Gerrard, Parker and Lampard coming through now as it looks like that generation of managers have learnt from the managers they played under and are taking things in the right direction.

  2. We've properly been traumatised at this club with Allardyce, Pardew, Bruce, Kinnear, McClaren and Carver under Mike Ashley man. Absolutely brutal stuff.

We really need to stay away from British managers for a good while to fully recover. Having to deal with their nonsense not just when they are here but long after they have left, with their bitter, snidey comments through the media from themselves and their pals is just the absolute pits.

Not surprised ASM loves him like, the absolute reliance on him has made him stand out as one of the league's better players.

More that his lateness was not made a big deal out of and did not affect his playing time. also was given no structure whatsoever on the pitch and was free to do as he pleased.

Bruce basically just catered to him to keep him sweet because ASM was his only hope of getting any results as he didn't bother with any tactical work.

  4. The guy is so unbelievably manipulative. Even on the way out he's gone with this abuse narrative to paint the fans in a bad light and have the media come at them. Such a pathetic person. Especially because he knows he never cared for the club and just saw it as an opportunity to doss about and get paid well for it. Awful stuff.

    Would be delighted.

I am concerned that we just don't have the midfield or defence for that, even if Schär is used. Wish we still had Lejeune.

If he peddles himself to us :cheesy: hopefully players buy into him quickly and some results can be scraped before essential recruitment in January.

Think he'll likely adjust things for the players he has at his disposal initially. At Shakhtar he played a different system altogether, and so we may finally see some variety to our play when needed.

Villa fans after what turned out to be Bruce's last game in charge there. Scary.

This sends chills down my spine man. They could be talking about the current Newcastle team. It's the exact same thing to a tee. Terrifying.

Fuck that. Which current top managers are defensive minded? As has been pointed out previously, a decent manager can be both attack minded AND defensively competent.

I think our strength is more in forward areas and so we probably actually need someone that can make the most of that and that can sometimes be the best form of defence in actuality.

The athletic seem to think he’s on Tyneside this evening. Might be he’s announced tomorrow and Bruce’s sacking isn’t even confirmed, that I’d love.

Fonseca is?! Oh man, here we go. God I hope this is finally it and we can get started on turning this thing around.

We are on edge because every game that he remains is three winnable points lost, with a nightmare set of fixtures coming up. If he is here on Saturday we are getting 100% turned over again. Right now we are going to be properly cut adrift from 17th in a week or two if he isnt peddled before the weekend.

When I look at the table I'm a bit encouraged. We are so fortunate a number of teams are still in and around us and have had poor starts. Hopefully we get a change confirmed this week now in order to start working our way up.

I feel the same I wish they had peddled him the day after the takeover but they want someone in place first and tbh, with the number of coaches we have I can see why they haven't

We should just trust in them though as whether Bruce is peddled now or next week, if it goes as they plan then we will instantly have a club we are proud of and in a few years one that is challenging for trophies.

Absolutely, think folks are just coming in here to vent a little bit and blow off some steam tbh

It must just be the psychology of making the decision and then being told by VAR to have a look would make you doubt yourself. Also looked like they didn't show the best angle once on the video

Yeah, the ref should really have to watch at least a couple of different angles. That whole pitch side review thing is not really up to scratch.

I would like to say though can people just calm the fuck down.  Bruce will go, it's clear he is going.  I would have loved him to be gone for Spurs as we may have won.  I sincerely hope he is gone tomorrow but can we just calm down.  We have been waiting for this takeover for 18 months, it's happened and it's still the same bullshit in here making us look like idiots.

    • It happened very fast post CAT and they didn't anticipate it would happen so fast so they didn't have a manager in place.  At times during the last 18 months we may have had Poch or Rafa depending on the timing.
    • They have said what they want to do long term and PIF don't fuck about
    • We are in the relegation zone and look absolutely shocking so it's probably harder for them to get their first choice.  It's a big risk for any top manager
    • We are now the richest club in the world and our leadership team has a proven record
    • WE HAVE HOPE

Remember the feeling when Wilson scored that goal?  We'll have a shit load of that feeling instead of feeling numb.

You're 100% right, but at the same time I sympathise with folks that are on edge. This club is bad for one's health man

It's like we got the takeover, but haven't been allowed to fully enjoy it yet because Bruce came back in and just pissed on everyone's chips with that pre match interview and then the match.

We're almost there now though, for sure. Almost. God help us all
