Joelinton isn't a flying winger. He just drifts into space and combines with other players to make things come together. It was working well with Tino overlapping aggressively. He was releasing Tino forward and although his crosses need improving at least one chance came from a ball he delivered that fell to someone in the box after a bit of a scramble. Moving Joelinton ultimately didn't make him anymore of a threat in any way. Didn't understand the change.

I agree. My point was that even if you play Tonali there in that team we started with today, you could never convince me Longstaff would be better. Feel like I've been saying forever we need to push Bruno further up, as he's best at threading through balls to our forward players. The number of times we pass up playing Isak in when it is clearly on. Longstaff, Tino and Barnes were blatantly guilty of it tonight alone. The team can be so frustrating to watch. I feel like we could be right there at times, but just won't put the pieces in place.

Even not fully convinced of this yet as we haven't played him there in that team we started with today. Can we at least see him in that side whether at CM or RCM?! It's ridiculous.

We just need both Joes in there, with Joelinton further up. They don't have to be beside each other necessarily. Willock and Gordon were still causing problems in the first half down the left and both could have and should have scored. Joelinton was playing well on the right and combining well with Tino. We were completely on top of them and creating chances. Should have been left well alone. For an extra bit of creativity just drop Tonali deep and have Bruno further up. Have no doubt we would have come back and got the result that way.

Had it mostly right at the start, and progressively moved further away from it as time went on, which was incredibly unfortunate. Very worrying as I'm now not sure if he realises how vital it is that we keep Joelinton higher up the pitch, Willock in midfield and just pick a side for Gordon and let him settle in and get into a rhythm there. Thought we were on our way and he had settled on the approach going forward, but there seemed to be more confusion today. Needs to stick with what he started with and start integrating Tonali into the first 11 so we can benefit from the added quality, especially if we can push Bruno further up, so someone can finally play Isak in behind!

If only to have Bruno further up as he is our most likely player to thread passes through to Isak, he absolutely has to start! This Longstaff thing is utterly ridiculous and was ultimately our undoing tonight as we didn't have enough to punish West Ham in the first half. Everything after that first half was a catastrophe.

Think we put more together that first half if he starts. Incredibly frustrating.

Was fine at the start. Feels like we we're right back where we were earlier in the season with the changes.

It's just so frustrating man. A timely reminder for just how bad we were earlier in the season, for all those that were complaining about the first half.

Saw a fair bit of moaning to move Joelinton from the right and to get Willock off and Barnes on. All of which Howe did, unfortunately. But having done so don't want to now see any complaining about it or complaining about Howe. It's been a complete disaster.

We suffered so much at the start of the season to get to that formation we started with that was looking so good. Just needed Tonali for Longstaff for a bit more impetus. Couldn't believe the complaining about Willock, Joelinton and Gordon early on. We were still looking dangerous and just needed some patience. Ended up a mess now.

He had it right at the start and we were doing just fine, was just a matter of time. Bunch of moaning for him to move Joelinton and take Willock off. Since that's all happened things have been much worse!

Been much worse since Willock went off. Gordon was also more involved on the left., when Joelinton was on the right. Wish we'd just kept things as they were at the start of the match and taken off Longstaff for Tonali. Very very frustrating and annoying match.

Longstaff shouldn't be vacating midfield to double up there. Hall had that under control out wide. AWB strolls unto the space and scores. Please take Longstaff off.

Just need to put Tonali on and push Bruno further up really.

Barnes refuses to play in Isak as well.

Just hasn't quite come together in the final third yet. But we're by far the better team. Not too dissimilar to the Forest game really. We need Tonali on for Longstaff to threaten them more going forward. He's not really adding anything here.

We never play Isak in behind. How has Tino not done so just then?!

That was classis Longstaff.

Very dangerous situation were in here. We're going to control things and have a chance to come back and win this, but their attacking players are dangerous enough to catch us out.
