Would you extend Harewood's loan until the end of the season?
Ronaldo replied to LoveItIfWeBeatU's topic in Football
A fair few of us would have signed him permanently in January. Hindsight doesn't play a part. -
You mentioned Perch, not me. You're suggesting giving Campbell a chance to find out if he's still got it. Well what if he hasn't? We don't pick players to give them a chance, we pick players to win football matches. Up until tonight that's been going pretty well recently as it happens. Not against a certain style of play it hasn't. We're crying out for a bit of raw strength back there. As for the part in bold; I'd pick Campbell for us, not him.

What people are refusing to do, is weight-up both players, or all three, even. Attribute for attribute, Williamson's probably the weakest of the three. It's all good pointing out that Williamson has done nowt wrong, but this is basically false, and completely the wrong mentality anyway. Success isn't achieved by accepting that which isn't wrong; it's achieved by addressing what can be more right.

Doesn't really answer the question does it? It answers Madras' question, Einstein.

What's that got to do with charity? Identifying our strongest Xl isn't charity, it's common sense. We can't do that if certain players (especially capable players) aren't getting a chance.
-
You can use that stupid arguement with players like Perch, who've had a few starts. Campbell hasn't had one.
-
There doesn't have to be a problem. There isn't one, as such. We can do better, though. I think Campbell and S Taylor are better players.

May 2008. Sol deserves a chance. He hasn't started a game yet, how are we going to find out conclusively if he still has it or not?
-
Why doesn't Campbell deserve a chance? surely it's "why does he deserve a chance ?". There's a cabinet of medals that answer that question. I'm sure Roy Keane is free to play too. Roy Keane retired in 2006. And didn't start for Arsenal last season.
-
Because he's Steven Taylor? Next.

Why doesn't Campbell deserve a chance?

Which is why the calls for Sol Campbell to get his chance are completely justified.

My only worry for Hughton is that we'll win very few games at home, and a lot at SJP don't care about the away games, to some extent. The crowd will eventually forget where we were last season and begin to demand results.

Williamson is in the team to deal with balls like that and is better equipped to do so than Colo because of his height. He's closer to goal and knows he has to win that ball yet goes up without convinction, eye's closed, and helps if perfectly into Roberts' path.

Krul Simpson Campbell Coloccini Enrique Routledge Barton Guthrie/Nolan Jonas Carroll Shola/Xisco/Best

Just returned to full training IIRC. All over the pre-game pics on .cock. I imagine he'll be back at the weekend in some capacity. He's worth a slot on the bench. I'd back to him to score a league goal this season ahead of Ranger and Lovenkrands, if he gets a go. I agree. He's a better option than Shola in games like tonight, too.
-
I we can't beat Blackburn or Fulham at home, we're going to be down there, it's as simple as that.
-
Allardyce made sure he was marked, and therefore completely nullified.
-
It clearly isn't just me who saw Williamson have a bad game tonight. Colo, Williamson and Krul could all have done better for the second goal tonight, Williamson most of all. As for the Bent goal, a ball that close to the keeper is his responsibility. No idea why it's being brought up now. Some people just can't admit they were wrong.
-
Yes, but Ronaldo needs a scapegoat and who better to help him gloss over Coloccini's rick than Mike Williamson, the man he's slated and put down even after good performances? Link?
-
We have one of the best defenders ever to grace the PL on the bench, even if he is old. Williamson has done OK, but no better. Then there's Taylor, who's quicker, as good in the air, and like Campbell; a threat in the opposing area. Bit like Ben Arfa replacing Jonas at Everton. If the player is better, it's worth a try.

From England cap to benchwarmer in 90 minutes Which idiot(s) mentioned an England cap?
