  1. Sven is a nothing manager without cash.
  2. You can only judge him on his goalscoring, because that's all he had to his game. Scoring goals (alone) isn't enough to make a player world class, unless it's a standout brilliant record, which Owen's clearly isn't.
  3. If they got 20 top flight league goals once in there career? Has the 24 year old Xisco got 20 top flight career league goals? Genuine question. You've got mental issues.
  4. For Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle & Man Utd, he has 160 league goals in 276 starts and 65 sub apps. For Liverpool, Newcastle & Man Utd, he has 23 goals in 36 starts and 6 sub apps in domestic cup competitions. For Liverpool & Man Utd, he has 28 Euro goals from 53 starts and 11 sub apps. He also has 40 goals for his country. You like your stats, try and pick your way through that. None of that makes him world class. Over a period of 10 years he was generally a very good goalscorer, nobody said any different.
  5. There's only thing you can judge goalscorers on, Rich. There was nowt else to his game, so that's ultimately what it boils down to.
  6. Where did the Campbell rumours initiate from? I remember hearing about 4 years back that he'd had an affair with Jermaine Jenas.
  7. He got 19 twice. Call the f***ing cops. And that's his bragging right? 19, twice. Yeah, world class my left nut.
  8. A world class goalscorer manages at least one season of 20 league goals, surely? Unless of course we're looking squarely at Owen's creative genius. His tenacity and vision perhaps? f*** off.
  9. Prime for prime, Shearer was twice the player Owen was. Neesy's comment above is a fairly decent way of putting it. Owen's only outstanding contribution was his goals tally. And he never hit the heights with it. Even Mark Viduka managed 20 PL goals, and Kevin Phillips got about 30 didn't he?
  10. Him and Shearer were fantastic. Is that a pisstake? We were absolutely s**** at that time. And those two only had two or three games in which they both played well. Owen was never a world class footballer. A very good goalscorer during his prime, no more.
  11. When was the last time we signed anybody that was world class?
  12. Watching an old Premier League Years on Sky+. Campbell hasn't aged in 12 years.
  13. The club wasn't formed the second you registered on NO.
  14. In all seriousness, Williamson is somewhat tidy and solid in the air, but not good enough with the ball at his feet and a very poor athlete. Even Taylor is a comfortably better option.
  15. Dann and Johnston are PL class, Williamson isn't.
  16. I know that. But it's pathetically predictable that all of the blame falls at the doorstep of the £10m flop as opposed to the local lad who made some of the most basic goalkeeping errors in that game.
  17. I do like the fact that video has opted to omit the 3 goals Arsenal conceded in that first game.
  18. It was better than that last season.
  19. As could his goal about an hour later. Unfortunately Harper was shown for exactly what he is in that game and we conceded 3 pretty shoddy goals. But nobody likes to talk about that.
  20. which he has done. Which is why Robson, Souness, Roeder, Allardyce and Kinnear all initially (or predominantly) went with partnerships that didn't include him. It took injuries or loss of form for that lot to put him in the middle. They can't all have been wrong. Taylor will never have the brains to play CB effectively in the Premier League. He's too rash, stupid and clumsy.
  21. People have already mentioned Drogba. Adebayour is basically Drogba-lite, does he only count as a target man because he's kinda s***? Crouch regular in a team that finished 4th. Adebayour was a regular in a team regularly challenging in the latter stages of CL and Premiership. So my point stands then? When I said 'success' I certainly didn't mean finishing fourth.
