Moreso tbh. Jonas doesn't half make me laugh with his diving though.
-
You asked if you could convince me he was one of our best players for 2 seasons. If he was, you'd have been able to name a fair few games in which he performed well. At the very least, two or three.
-
Overhyped, high wages, prone to injury. We've signed that type of player many times before.
-
That's got to be one of the daftest things I've read on here. As if anyone* can remember who played well in what games over the last 3 years ffs, and as if the inability of someone to recall this will somehow invalidate their argument. I can remember 10 games or more when Robert played well, Solano, even N'zogbia. Wingers tend to stand out with their contribution. Wide players are there to make things happen, Milner didn't, not for us.
-
I think it's been blatantly obvious all season that the long ball tactics have geniunely held us back. When we get the ball down and the wide men, we tend to anihilate defences.
-
Name more than 5 good games he had in that period. His crossing was poor and the other aspects of his game nowhere near made it up for it.
-
Shame it took him all season to figure it out. A lot of us had that one sussed by October.
-
Middle of April at the absolute earliest.
-
Well, let's not jump to bury this one when he doesn't immediately set the Premiership alight then. One of the most insane things I've experienced as a Newcastle supporter was seeing how much Milner was hated. It wasn't even a case of him giving up on him too early when he was struggling, he was actually one of our best players for 2 years running and had an excellent attitude, but some people seemed to despise him because he "had no pace" (the most overused and often incorrect indictment against a player ever by the way) and "couldn't cross." That's nonsense, man. He was poor for us under Roeder and Allardyce.
-
Off the top of my head, we've only won one mid-week game away from home - Coventry in december.
-
Good.
-
So blatant he's used to plying his trade in Spain, knows exactly how to get fouled.
-
He's no worse than some of the defenders currently playing Premier League football evey week. He's not superb but he'll do for the time being. Sort of a tall Andy O'Brien. He'll do ok. He's more or less the same height as O'brien, but he certainly seems to control a football better (ie once in a while).
-
Forest are w*** away from home. I doubt we will lose our home record to them. They most certainly aren't w***, like. Difficult to beat, anyway.

Overheard at St. James' Park (and in pubs pre/post match etc)

I remember a game (Spurs I think) at home during the back end of 05-06 when Elliot, Ramage and Moore all started. From relatively low down in the Gallowgate I could barely tell which was which when they were at the other end. -
Not to mention the fact their players have rarely got their wages on a time and he was clearly forbidden from playing certain players.
-
They would have.
-
Apparently people think you're that daft. I said he was the 'closest thing' to Zidane btw. Never said he was as good.
-
He's a decent championship player with potential, no more.
-
He'll look a lot better with S Taylor behind him. Simpson did him no favours whatsoever, Enrique on the other hand made him look like a different player.
-
Being brutally honest, it'll take a certain mood for me to run onto a pitch, for the first time in 17 years as it happens. But I wont completely rule it out.
-
Agree with that.
-
You just said celebrating was stupid, make up your mind.
-
We absolutely 100% need to go up this season and should we do it, it'll be something to celebrate. For one thing, i'll be able to turn off BBC 1 after MOTD.
-
Knew i'd see that in here.
