  1. Between 1997 and 2000, was someone like Dion Dublin better than Alan Shearer just because 1997/8 for Shearer was basically a write-off due to injury, while Dublin consistently got 15-20 a season for Villa & Coventry? my orignal post was referring to the injury records of both Owen and Martins, which are not comparable at all. Maybe you missed the point This season though, it is. In fact, Martins' has been worse...which is somewhat important, you know, when you have 6 games left to save your status in the Premiership. If he's fit, he starts as far as I'm concerned, it's a non-issue that some are trying to make into one. With Owen, for me there is genuine worry that his presence in the starting 11 will take us down. There has been nothing in his last few games to suggest he'll help keep us up
  2. Nah it's popular everywhere. In recent years, it's become very trendy among average young professionals everywhere to say that Newcastle is their favorite beer (classy, tasteful, not too cheap, but not too obscure, expensive or weird). After saying all that...it's my favorite beer too. that's amazing that is, means I wont have to drink piss like Bud when I travel round the place. I remember being in awe the first time I went to NY a couple of years back that literally every other pub had it on tap

  4. I thought Broon Ale was only popular in New York, looks like I was wrong
  5. yes but the 'last 2 seasons' represents a somewhat window dressing approach to Owen's record, doesn't it mate While only mentioning the last 12 games just to suit your own arguments is perfectly acceptable. 13 games, and in that instance I was refering to FORM which is somewhat important, you know when you have 6 games left to save your status in the premiership
  6. yes, unquestionably, and if you extend in to 9 years it proves Ameobi's a better goalscorer. or if you extend it to 3, the Martins - Owen arguement looks somewhat redundant
  7. if one team in the world can pull this off it's that lot tbh. Not that I want them to or think they will Chelsea/Barca double £20 gets a return of £141 also got £1 on Barca to win 5-0 at 100/1, too good to miss
  8. Our best central defender at LB, what on earth do people sniff on this board? Beye Colo Bassong S Taylor in my opinion. Spurs don't really have what it takes through the middle to seriously trouble Colo to be honest

    Joey Barton

Barton, Bassong and Martins for me are the most integral players to our survival, we need Joey back asap

    Jonas Gutierrez

Nah yesterday Shearer hit the nail on the head, he used him as an impact sub. yeah, after we'd not threatened once all game, genius, he clearly got it wrong man Right, when Jonas was on how much was he kicked and battered ? You put him on from the start, and you'll have a crocked player after 20 minutes. Jonas doesn't take the physical game well, it was the right decision, if it wasn't for his poor decision to start Carroll over Shola we would have won. mate, by the time Jonas came on we couldn't have really complained if we were 2 or 3-0 down. In my book, that makes his exclusion a mistake. A 3-5-2 formation is perfect for him to be honest, cant understand at all why he wasn't started

  13. Top player and top guy, should be made captain tomorrow

    Jonas Gutierrez

disgusts me that he's been benched in favour of the likes of Duff and Nolan this season. Clear bias towards reputations tbh, hope Shearer puts it right
  15. point for point Owen's record against the top 4 clubs and at international level against the more established countries is very poor, whichever way you want to spin it. And please dont try to argue with this by throwing goals from 1998-2002 at me, he's in no way, shape or form the same player. Given has been brilliant this season, but he's comfortably past his best as a shotstopper imho. Cacapa was brilliant when he joined us, for many he was our player of the season up until November, when his lack of strength was exposed and the confidence went with it. People are still too harsh on him though. Not that i'd have him anywhere near the first Xl yes, thanks
  16. it's 4-2 to Lazio now course the game finished yesterday
  17. Checked the posts to see if i was mistaken. Yeah you clearly loved him, my bad. scores in big games? look at his record in international tournaments, it's dogshite You also slagged Given for clearly "losing his reflexes", Mort was crap & the 4-3-3 system in general wouldnt work. Along with claiming Cacapa was a class defender. Along with Rozenhal. Shouldnt really be getting on my back about my opinion should ya, because yours is clearly so proven to be brilliant Owen has alway failed against good defences - put him in a great team and he'll still not do owt against good players Given's reflexes are not what they once were, he's 33 ffs Cacapa WAS class, he captained one of the very best teams in europe for 4 seasons. Rozenhal is a decent defender for me, better than Taylor and at CB Edgar anyway Mort and Ashley didn't get the players we needed in the summer of 07 or Jan 08, which is what I was getting at
  18. Make your points by all means, but dont lie. I was well in favour of Owen being in the starting line up last season.
  19. Owen's a great captain, needs a 20 year old kid to come on and show him how to do his job.

    Some positives

there's absolutely no question of us deserving to go down, of course we do. We don't threaten in attack, especially when Martins is absent. The midfield is at best the second worst in the premiership, at top form Nolan, Butt, Duff all deserve to playing for a team in the championship. The defence is decent, looking at the personnel, but it means very little when they've been coached by idiots all season. Along with abother 5 teams in the league, we really shouldn't be playing premiership football next season, staying up would feel like a gift tbh
  21. Have to agree with Brummie here tbh, Fellaini is a malicious cunt, very very good player though
  22. 8.5 now tbh. We basically need Hull and Sunderland to pick up no more than 3-5 points during the remainder of the season Cant see us winning any of the games bar Boro and P'mouth, and even those games are 50-50's if we play like we did yesterday.
  23. see now you're telling lies, I never made that point last season, because he looked a fairly dangerous player back then
  24. Would like to see him given a chance with Martins, doubt it'll happen though
  25. you lads seem to be missing the point that Owen isn't contributing everything, his presence on the pitch is essentially putting us at a massive disadvantage lets see if idiots like Jayson are still singing his praises when we get relegated
