take Hugo back in a second like
-
Nolan should not play ahead of a fully fit Guthrie
-
Bassong prefectly represents the way we should operate as a club. The likes of Owen perfectly represent the opposite
-
I suppose you feel the same about SBR then too? SBR was sacked
-
not what the Wigan fans say. Done alright? look at the amount of clean sheets they've kept man, even sky are starting to acknowledge his performances
-
For how long though.. He'll never be able to eradicate the mistakes and carelessness out of his game. Which is a shame as he does have the attributes to be a top class centre back. well he's been their top player since August and Bruce loves him. From what i've seen Carragher's made more mistakes leading to goals this season
-
the kind of stupid, generic and lazy comment i'd expect from that cunt
-
Bramble, Kluivert, Luque, Emre. Titus is finally doing the business now though
-
in 30 years time, people at St James's (myself included) will still be saying "what we really need is a player like Beardsley" absolute magic
-
fucking getin!
-
I very much doubt anyone who saw a substancial amount of Beardsley will say any different tbh
-
we wont accumulate 46 points, no chance
-
Did Martin Taylor get an extended ban? no, but his challenge wasn't as bad as Nolan's for me. For one, Taylor didn't go in two footed, in fact it was simply mistimed and down to Eduardo's pace/trickery more than owt else
-
very impressed with his pace and strength recently, we really dont have to worry much about that LB position anymore
-
We were better with Woodgate than without him, but not massively so as people like to make out
-
01-02 71 points (without Woodgate) 02-03 69 points (with woodgate from Jan) 03-04 56 points (with woodgate) aye, that's a fucking incredible difference
-
Wrong. On a side note didn't we only ever lose one game in which Woodgate appeared for us? Shame we don't have him to play alongside Seba well what has Woodgate 6-5 years ago got to do with how well he's played this season? He's been good but not as good as Seb Do you s**** mean the Woodgate of now though. Tbh, I dont think Woodgate of then was any better than Bassong now. Woodgate played in a far better team tbh. Hughes and especially Bernard were solid, Bramble generally looked quality alongside him, Given was in his prime, one of the best CDM in the business was in the midfield, and we did most of our defending from the front. Not to mention we had one of the best managers tactically that the game will ever see. Cant really compare Woodgate's situation with Bassong's. TBF it's an absolute miracle that a 22 yr old newcomer to the premiership has thrived in that defence, but he has. He probably isn't as big a fucking arsehole as Woody either.
-
Another thing i'll say about Seb, one of the weaknesses he seemed to have earlier on the season was his touch, but even that is looking absolute quality now. Countless times he controlled dangeous balls into the box with ease and passed them away to safety with either foot. He's a fucking colussus

He's been better than Woodagte this season, easily. He hasn't put a fucking foot wrong man wth the exception of the Blackburn game. Not saying he IS better than Woodgate, because 20 games at CB obviously isn't enough to judge.

He had more to deal with defensively at either end if you include having a defender trying to get the ball of you/stop your advances as defending too which I do than either of Bassong or Colo had to contend with which was mostly pressing, clearing and getting tight to the ineffective, seriously weak Jo - Everton's very own Ameobi for the day. In his own defensive area Taylor made several key blocks from crosses and kept Baines at bay throughout by checking his runs and pushing him back with his own forward runs. When Fellaini came on Taylor was also tasked with competing with him in the air which he did to good effect. I also recall Taylor clearing 3 vital balls with his head, once stooping very low and nearly getting a boot to the face, inside the box assuming the role of centre-back. Where Bassong or Colo were I do not know, well I do with the latter, he was at left-back covering Enrique for some absurd reason which he does a lot - goes on these needless walkabouts that threaten our shape and leave holes in the box meaning someone has to fill in which if they do leaves holes elsewhere. Taylor was constantly brought over to the touchline when the ball was out of play for instruction which indicated at least tactically he had a big part to play today at both ends. Which he did and did well. He's not a better right-back than Beye and never will be but going forward he gives us something that Beye doesn't give us and as someone who personally believes that attack is the best form of defence, in that sense I'd rather see Taylor at RB than Beye which I'll get shot down for but there you go. Regarding Beye I'd put him in alongside Bassong and remove the just as likely liability as Taylor at CB that is Colo who for me is proving to be a bit of a flop. squint, and this post looks like a brick wall with graffiti Colo already seems to be one of the those defenders who'll never get the praise he deserves, very sad

Libertine is right though, the free flowing football came from our forward 3, not the midfield. The mdfield had a lot more time on the ball and space in that formation and generally did ok with it.
-
exactly
-
he's been better than Woodgate tbh
