We failed to score in the 4 games he missed last season but there’s no rush to get a backup striker in to be ready for the start of the season. Yeah, ok.
-
That’s why we offered Wilson another deal. Ambition. Have a word. Eddie aside the club is a mess.
-
Such a submissive response. Yeah because there’s such a profound lack of options out there between a Šeško / Joao Pedro and improving on Callum ‘1 shot on target in 18 apps’ Wilson. The club shouldn’t get points for failing. We are literally the laughing stock of the league again and it’s not because of too much ambition or Isak wanting to fuck off.
-
It’s a daft question in response to an accurate take on the club’s colossal failure of a summer. Should never have put themselves in this position.
-
It’s their club at the end of the day. I respect fans standing up for it and demanding it to be run properly with adequate and proportional investment.
-
Not when we start the season with 0 senior available strikers. It’s indefensible by any measure. Let alone top 7 club measure.

Only seen him two or three times. Is he a worthy heir to Schar?

Pre-season (2026/27): NUFC to play Everton at Murrayfield on 12/08/26

He’s absolutely shit up there. I’d honestly rather Osula and that is saying something. Criminal situation we’re in given Wilson left months ago. -
None of us know anything. We know Isak wants away, we know Liverpool want him, we value him higher than they have so far offered. We know a previously very professional and highly motivated player is unhappy, we know Eddie Howe is the only person who’ll speak for the club and he is very deliberate with his words. That’s all.
-
The suggestion wasn’t that we’d necessarily promised him a new deal though.
-
We don’t know it hasn’t happened. We don’t know what conversations have taken place between the club and Isak’s reps prior to the situation unfolding.
-
Again, hypothetical. A verbal promise with certain conditions fulfilled is legally binding.
-
In the context of the hypothetical scenario KI suggested.
-
It wouldn’t be worthless though. Should he not sign for Liverpool *this* summer the club would be liable for damages in such a scenario. Is it unlikely to be the case? Yes, but there’s something in play here that the parties closely involved aren’t divulging and Eddie is as careful, deliberate and nuanced with his words as any manger in the country.
-
What’s your interpretation of that?
-
Nothing to suggest he’s anything near a PL player but we knew that. Friendly doesn’t change anything. Needs at least one full season in the Championship starting and learning the game, then we can look at him again. He’s a raw prospect whose ceiling might be a lot lower than we need it to be. The idea of him starting PL games for us at the level we’re aiming for is frankly so absurd you have to laugh.

He got someone pregnant? I bet that was an evil occasion wasn’t it. -
Good player, rapid, would be a good signing.

We don’t know the facts behind any of it. It could easily have dragged on until breaking point or the club had reneged on whatever assurances were made when he expressed wishes initially, for example allowing him to talk to Liverpool when replacement X who eventually went elsewhere was secured. He’s very possibly acted like a twat as I said but we’re just in the dark and a lot of the factors we can be certain of completely justify him wanting to leave.
-
As much as he may very well have acted like a complete twat (we don’t know the facts yet) the amount of vitriol towards Isak on here has surprised me a bit. Have a look at how many goals we scored when he was missing last season and season previous. His brilliance has basically dragged us to CL and a cup win. Put yourself in his shoes. Everyone is telling him he’s the best striker in the league if not the world. He’s getting paid significantly less than dozens of vastly inferior players at a club that is an absolute mess off the pitch and can’t / won’t match his ambitions on it. He might have acted like an utter twat. I just think judgment should be reserved.

Man U have never finished above us with Hojlund starting. Weghorst didn’t start too many games either.
