I just disagree. We’ve never had a striker score 20+ in our PL history back to back, not to mention be the decisive factor in us winning a trophy - and that’s a long list of very good (or better) players so to say he’s lazy and we’ll be better without him is a bit weird in my eyes. As much as his behaviour has been reprehensible he certainly isn’t the first to do it, and the best outcome in terms of points of the board is him not going to Liverpool and scoring goals for us this season before leaving next summer when we’ve got time to invest in replacing him. I really don’t see how that’s such a point of contention but crack on with the personal stuff if it helps your anger towards him subside.

£39m gets you very little in 2025. Good signing. He will absolutely be pushing to start when fully fit and we need exactly that in midfield.

But we’ve established he isn’t being greedy. He’s being paid half as much as dozens of PL players who aren’t anywhere near as good. So calling him greedy is the typical thick response. And the singing at the game is the exactly what his agent wants to make a return untenable. It just helps nothing. I’ve said he’s been a twat. We all know he’s been a twat. Don’t take the bait though.

The Isak stuff on here is beyond embarrassing mind. ‘We’ll be better without him’, singing songs about him being greedy. Yeah he’s been unprofessional and a twat but get a grip.

Miley and Osula are the two in question and both need far more game time than a club in the CL and competing at the top of the PL could (and should) be able to offer.

Agreed. He’s got ability but you can see he’s a fish out of water in a lot of situations and no amount of training pitch work can adequately help him overcome that. Needs a season in the Championship so he can find his style of play in midfield.

Lascelles is now a pure cheerleader. He won’t make our CL squad. He’s obviously happy with that.

Truth. There’s a bit of a contraction on here in how many people rate him as a real raw talent but recognise he isn’t anywhere near up to PL or even top EFL level at his age.

We can’t replace him. We can mitigate the issues up top with a Wissa but losing him is going to be hugely to our detriment however and whenever it happens. Forget about the 27 goals and 6 assists, his presence alone gets goals for Gordon and the rest of them.

Worth considering we clearly can’t score goals without him.

Has there ever been a winger who justifies his inclusion through goals as much as Barnes? As a creative player he is so so poor in the vast majority of games he starts. Such a clinical finisher who doesn’t have anything else needed in that position.

They’ll have been informally briefed as to what was and wasn’t fair game to ask, surely?

There’s no way he’ll be ahead of Ramsey beyond a few weeks at most. Nothing to support that at all.

He’s rotund and Irish. Laughing is his psychological defence mechanism.

He also knows the person and situation better than anyone. If he thinks that’s the best position to take to make some progress who are we to judge?

We had that crazy run of form when he was injured and Almiron was scoring every game. The games he missed last season and season before will tell a vastly different story.

He’s just the modern footballer who wants to win things, has zero connections to the area / club beyond the superficial and has a twat of an agent who wants his comish. Yes, he’s been a twat but don’t take it personally. Have no doubt Gordon would do exactly the same if Liverpool wanted him.

To be fair, I can barely think of a player in our team less capable of playing that role effectively.
