Because they have midfielders who can penetrate.

    Well learn to read, man.

That's not a judgement of him.

    Good luck with that.
  5. I think the question centered more around you presenting Llambias' comments out of context and thus in the most negative light possible.

Aye, it's that simple. Any excuse.

I'll take your word for it, I can't remember it. I can. Hugo replaced him in the side.

Did he drop him for it? Twice, actually.

Like we have when Ben Arfa has 3 players around him or like we regularly did when Jonas was doubled up on or do other team have more players on the pitch than we do? Like it or not, Ben Arfa is our player most likely to do something from the half way line and we should take advantage of that. I've never disputed HBA is better going forward. He's my favourite player and our most talented since Robert. Probably better. I still expect him to follow his man though, which he did on Monday and still looked good going forward. The two aren't exclusive of each other. Pushing it.

So the solution is using several other team members to cover for one s*** one? Thats like cutting off your leg because you have a sore toe. As opposed to what? We don't have an option, daft lad. It's called teamwork. It's called cowardice. Especially when you're doing it at home to Wolves and Sunderland. Wanting Ben Arfa to occasionally track back when there's a total non-entity behind him is called cowardice? OK. No, focussing so much time and energy behind closed doors into making sure our gifted attacker knows how to chase, defend, track back, keep shape blah blah etc instead of encouraging him to play his natural game and attack against complete non-entity opposition on our own turf. Maybe it's not cowardice, but it seems obsessive and poor management to me. But I wasn't referring to that - and there was no suggestion of it. You're chomping at the bit to unleash this criticism of Pardew in every thread. Relax, bro.

Aye, Robert had the fantastic Babayaro when he was fit. Robert probably played in front of Babayaro about 5 times. Don't try that shit with me, bud.

Cos Shola is better at making something from hopeful long balls. When did you become this negative, man?

Don't have my copy up here with me, but I think he said something like this: "I cornered Laurent more than any other player I've worked with; in the dressing room, on the training ground and in the boardroom twice. We'd ask him again and again, 'do you understand your defensive responsibilities?'"

Give over, Mick. He's an athlete; light as a feather with two strong legs. He's quite capable of tracking back occasionally without sacrificing his attacking impact. We don't need 11 defenders, when he's tracking back he's at the wrong end of the pitch to do damage. I'd rather have him as an outlet for when we do try to go forward, as rare as that sometimes is. When I think about the most effective wingers I've seen In PL, pretty much every one of them has been prepared to track back. Why should he get an exemption? He's shown he can be incredibly potent when his attacking responsibilities are compounded with defensive aspects.

The same way Cabaye is quite capable of helping out at the back while also being a playmaker? No reason he shouldn't be. Lessers player have managed it.
