It’s definitely a lack of coaching, the fact no single player had improved speaks volumes - that’s why I am so pleased we had Rafa in a way - he made me understand what true coaching is, and pretty much set the bar for me which to judge other managers with

The thing that really annoys me with the club is the lack of planning (stating the absolute obvious I know) - for example this current set of players - we should be looking to finish 9th to 12th - that’s realistic - have a 40m budget every season - top it up with any sales - buy 3/4 players to improve us - do this for 2/3 years and you’ve got a squad that can look to finish 7th to 10th - maybe get a Europa League place - I mean it’s not hard - that’s how you build - it frustrates the hell out of me that a club of our size has a simple remit of finishing 17th, anything else is a bonus

They often say similar with set pieces, too. Never knew corners floated to the penalty spot were a real threat. Heard the other day “Matt Ritchie has a great set piece delivery” from one of the assistant comms (Hinchcliffe?) - I just laughed - can’t recall a decent delivery by Ritchie in 2 years - even Shearer schooled him a few years back when they both had a shootout comp - this is Shearer who had dodgy knees and ankles, plus a bad back

The more of the youngsters they play the better they are this season. They have looked so much better in the Europa league this season with the youngsters making up more of their euro squads. Regardless of what happens tonight - they need to stick with Arteta - ride the storm out and look to build again next season with 2-3 good players added to the lineup - he’s the right man for Arsenal - just needs some time and patience

Quite useful if you play a 3-4-3 - he can play both wide CB positions on RB and LB in s back 4 Goes to show what quality coaching can do

Except that he was good enough for this level when playing alongside Hayden during the last half of the 2018-19 season under Rafa. He's been Bruced, and as a result lost his confidence (and maybe some of his motivation too.) It’s basically bad coaching - he’s got talent but sadly for him when Rafa went, so did his potential to have a really good career
