Feyenoord manager Arne Slot confirming that Minteh is back to fitness and will feature tomorrow. Asked if he's happy to see Yankuba back he confirms he's very happy about it, because the lad offers something very different than his other options, in that he has pace and endeavour in abundance. Sounds like he is definitely seen as a first team player by Slot, even though he admits that Minteh needs some polishing, e.g. in making the correct decisions at times.

If he keeps up with this progress - I can see    him staying there another year - Feyenoord and Slot are as good a package as you are ever going to get when loaning a player to develop

We could do with a Sibierski / Kuqi sort of signing just to bolster that area. Ideally not another Chris Wood, but someone who can pull on the shirt and be useful and take the weight off our 2 very fragile strikers.

 

It's almost a shame that Adam Armstrong has started banging them in with some regularity this season, considering he'd count as basically a free player for Europe as well (HG@club), as he would be a good fit as a squad player.

I do think we will sign an all round forward in at least one of the two windows coming up - just a question of who it will be

Hopefully a few more of them hiding around Europe. Can’t say I’d ever seen him play before. But he has been one of the best keepers, if not the best in the league this season.
 

I would almost rather we took a punt on a player like that in future. Than waste £30-40m on Ramsdale. For no net gain on Pope’s abilities overall. 
 

Certainly been Eddie heavy recruitment from the Prem so far, mind. So I can see why it is an easy link for the media and fans alike to make.

We've suffered a load almost all at once and while it isn't ideal we do have the option (hopefully) of a fresh outlook for the latter part of the season with those players back and refreshed and raring to go.

The fixture list has contributed - it’s been non stop - 6 huge CL games and 3 huge league cup games by the middle of Dec is quite frankly unprecedented, on top of a team/club that is way ahead of schedule

Its good to have an experience like this - we will better for it

In fairness Ashworth has only been in the job a couple of years - made drastic changes to the structure of the footballing side (for the better) and the 1st team - these were the priority - over the next few years you’ll see the youth teams really up skilled with young talent - it takes time to overhaul decades of neglect

This might be the worst thing ever mentioned on this forum. The point above makes me think of those smaller fishes that hitchhike with a Great White. Let him be that fish with the big boys until he becomes a great white himself  He will learn so much and grow from it. And we can afford him to be that little fish when we are further ahead.

Yeah I totally agree with this - it takes time - we are victims at the moment of our own success - another ball playing midfielder is a must in the summer, give Miley time to develop physically and gain experience.

We simply give away too much cheap possession - it’s fine when you don’t have other cups to play and can rest in between - but when the schedule is packed, you are going to feel it physically
