being familiar with Berbatov ever since i first shouted abuse at him in his first games for CSKA, i have to say that he made it clear he supported Newcastle way back in 1999, when we played CSKA in the UEFA Cup.. there was an article in the paper about how he looks forward to playing against his favorite team and talking about Shearer's influence on him.. having said that, it would be a miracle if he decides that joining us would be a good career move for him, because it most certainly won't.

Berbatov massively raised his game in a season.. at 23 he was like a shite Pippo Inzaghi.. there's no reason why Martins shouldn't improve his game, apart from playing in a team that can't attack.

David Villa won't come here (not that Berbatov will).. plus Berbatov is more of a playmaker, which is what we need most right now.. Villa is more in the Owen mould

well, he's not closing down all the time, but he's certainly doing it more than our other strikers.

Martins, all the way.. Owen is an injury prone luxury player, we'll see the best of him, only if we buy a new midfield.

aye, Cacapa may be getting on a bit, but it's clear to me that he's a good and experienced defender.. as i've said before, fans in France still think of him very highly and if given the chance, most Lyon supporters would have him back right now.. he captained one of the best sides in european football for 5 years, which says something about his ability and mentality.

now.. Berbatov is not worth 30m, but that's the way the market is right now.. even though he has supported Newcastle, Berbatov will reject us, as he'll simply have other better options .. as for Domovchiyski, he's promising, but very far from Berbatov's standard.. i've actually played a few times against him, when i was younger and even at 15 you could see he stood up from the rest. Valeri has a good technique, can shoot with both legs, quite pacey, but if he comes here, he'll struggle with the lack of service. My biggest frustration with him is that he seemed quite light-weight and defenders often battered him away from the ball, but this season he has improved massively on that. i can't think of any similar brittish players to compare him with, but he's similar to Bojinov in many ways (not that you've seen what Bojinov is like yet) He has been linked heavily with Blackburn all winter, but it looks like nothing will come out of that, as he can't get a work permit and it'd be hard for clubs to convince the FA that he's a world class youngster, as he's 21 now..

yep, i think Owen has the respect of the dressing room.. i don't think it's particularly important who the captain is on the field, as we don't have a clear leader in the team.. i consider the most important part is that he gets along fine with all his team mates off-field so, aye, good move, although i've always maintained that Given should be the captain..

they give you a lifetime ban if you fight outside the ground?? Football related violence leads to a lifetime ban and this was bang outside the ground just down from the main front steps. Even those fans a few years back that met in shields to get a fight on got lifetime bans.. oh man, that's proper harsh.. if we get a law like this in Bulgaria, there will be no attendances left after a few rounds..
