1. I think one of my main reasons for wanting this to happen is I doubt I could stand the glee from other fans if it fell through.
2. Nah, don't give him the oxygen of publicity. Just ignore him. Definitely don't post on his Twitter. Don't even click on it, he gets income from all of that. Just forget he exists.
3. So they HAVE had unofficial, informal word. Otherwise he wouldn't have been so specific.
4. Oh fuck, just realised I've got a work video call tomorrow at 13:30.... If this gets announced in the morning, I'll be steaming by then.
5. I don't get twitter. What exactly is he referring to here? He said was still with Premier league yesterday and now is insulating it may not now be. And here he only references money being left to transfer So in theory that'll be Friday or Monday but Saudi banks or closed on Fridays and it's a Bank Holiday here Monday so Tuesday Wednesday next week. Can they not just pay the extra £10 and get it done same day? They could literally fly the cash over and it would be quicker. Don't think you can send 300 million through the faster payments network. No, but you can send it through something like XRP, which is basically free and instant and used by about 200 banks. The world really needs to embrace this kind of thing and consign Swift etc to the dustbin of history.
6. It seems like something has changed, but something has changed before and normally that just prompts another batch of 'evidence' from BeIN or another letter from Amnesty. Hopefully they've run out now.
7. I'll go with the latter I think. How can he possibly stress the confidentiality around it and then state his direct involvement with the specifics of piracy regarding the bid. If all that was real, you better believe this person is getting a smacked arse right now. "I've done everything to hide my identity" *Uses real name for his Twitter account* Why are you sure that's his real name? He might just be a big fan of Gavin Peacock and Michael Chopra.
8. Yeah, but the important question is how much are you willing to give to the food bank if you're wrong?
9. I bumped into Alex Mathie once in Whickham, he was as pissed as I have ever seen a person. Did he mention the takeover? Is it done yet? Did he wink to suggest it's all good or did he nod to indicate a 'yes'? People need to know, it's just too much, surely he could have let on..... oh my God it must be off...... right I'm going to insult and fall out with loads of people I've never met on-line It was about 1994............ so no So around the same time this takeover started, then?
10. If they do say no I suspect the premier league facebook page is going to get bombarded I've no idea how they'll cope with that. I'm sure that'll bring the whole organisation of the PL to its knees.
11. Owners and Directors test :-) Yeah, I get that. But which part of the actual text prevents anyone owning a club? It's all about being a director. The word "Owner" only features in the chapter heading, all of the reasons for disqualification specifically refer to directors. To go further, there is ONE bit about ownership, section F23: No Person may acquire any Holding in a Club if, pursuant to the law of the United Kingdom or the European Union: F.23.1. he is prohibited from entering the United Kingdom; or F.23.2. no funds or economic resources may be made available, directly or indirectly, to or for his benefit
12. Owners and Directors test :-) Yeah, I get that. But which part of the actual text prevents anyone owning a club? It's all about being a director. The word "Owner" only features in the chapter heading, all of the reasons for disqualification specifically refer to directors.
13. Just a quick question.... It's called "The owners' and directors' test" but in the actual text, there's only information regarding people being appointed as directors. Why can't the Saudis own 80% of the club and just not appoint a director? I mean right now, Charnley is our only director, is he not? Surely this new consortium just need to find one person who isn't disqualifiable? Or am I missing something glaringly obvious? Section F, here, it's only a few pages: https://resources.premierleague.com/premierleague/document/2020/05/11/9de08b33-1f94-4ac7-9868-8bb157807062/2019-20-PL-Handbook-070520.pdf In other words, can they only say "no" to a particular director, rather than "no" to the actual takeover?
14. I would think that the Saudi state and MBS deal with negative attention on a regular basis, they won’t get sick, maybe more determined. It's not them that have to get sick of the negative attention though, it's the PL.
15. I think it's time for you to log off for a bit dude. He's probably right though.
16. Whichever side you're on in this, the same rules apply: If posted words do not meet your agenda, they're fucking nonsense. If posted words do meet your agenda, then I fucking told you so.
17. Really, you watched government-broadcast streams in all these countries?
18. Because as time goes by, they're getting more "evidence" sent to them. Some of that will be utter bullshit, but some of it might stick. More time passing is a bad thing because there's more chance of something genuinely damaging landing with the PL.
19. I'm convinced this will fall through. Convinced by what? You're not. You think it will fall through because it's the most Newcastle thing to happen, which isn't based on anything going on right now. Well aside from us, nobody wants it. Literally every other club, pundit and fan wants this to fail. Not because its us, but because they don't want another rich club and because they genuinely don't want the Saudis involved in the league either. The piracy concerns are genuine, and that could put a spanner in the works depending on what has been handed to the PL. Likewise, the Sheff Utd conflict of interests thing could be used against us. It's pretty fucking obvious that if the PL want to block this, there's some ammunition around for them to do so. And they will be under enormous pressure from all the people listed above to do just that. I think our only hope was that it went through quickly. Now that it hasn't and that furore has gathered around it in all quarters, I think our chances diminish every day. And those days keep ticking by. I'd be delighted to be wrong, utterly overjoyed. But I am at this stage convinced this will fall flat on its face, yet another in our catalogue of times something nice nearly happened. So yeah a tiny bit "Most Newcastle thing to happen", but largely based on what I'm observing. This will fail.
20. Nobody's bothered about waiting, we're bothered about it falling through. The longer it goes on for, the more likely that is to happen. At this stage, with the new information from yesterday, it's fairly likely.
21. If it's cancelled due to failing the director checks, does Mike keep the deposit? Guesswhowinsagain.jpeg
