I think it's difficult and unfair to compare these. I'm delighted the women are doing well, and getting good support. I hope it continues. I hope in years to come the women's game gets on a far more equal footing in all regards with the men's game but it obviously has a long way to go but it's absolutely what they deserve and what we should all strive for. However comparing attendances between the women's team at SJP and a Sunderland match today is tricky, because with all due respect the tickets for the women's team are very cheap, I think probably around £5 each if you averaged out what everyone spent in the stadium. On the other hand you have Sunderland who actually.... oh.... well, if you factor in all the freebies it's probably about the same.

Nope. They'd complain for about a week as a token gesture, but as soon as there was a sniff of actual investment in the playing side they'd say "Well if it's good enough for the mags, I don't see why we should miss out" and they'd be straight back.

Easy to say when there's fuck-all chance of it happening. It's like when I tell the wife that despite her flaws I love her, and even if Natalie Portman came knocking on the door promising me endless nights of unbridled passion I'd say no, and stay instead with her. That - like their "I'd never go back if the Saudis bought us", is an incredibly easy promise to keep.

Just need Pickford to dislocate his shoulder trying to reach his cock for a wank, and we're nailed on to have 3 Newcastle players lifting the World Cup.
-
Well, I did say it was a big "if"
-
If (and it's a massive if) Australia can hang on to a lead deep into the game, you'd think he'd be the perfect person to bring on if France are committing lots of men forward for goals.

Don't even think he starts for his club, does he?
-
Well that Smith and Owen one didn't happen as Owen went off after 34 minutes and Smith came on after 73. Which match was the 2004 one?
-
Honestly, everyone should just ignore him. Don't even mention his name or that he exists. Just let him rant away to himself in a vacuum, we all know where to find his dribble if we want a laugh without needing it referenced on here, let's not give him the oxygen he craves by even acknowledging he exists.

Yeah, every time I look at the league table and see us up there in 3rd, I seethe about how classy Sunderland and their fans are.

It's literally the headline of the article you're quoting, and the first paragraph. What more can they do when they aren't interviewing Sunak, but simply reporting on his meeting with MBS? They can't grill him about this, they weren't even speaking to him. That said, there are a lot of horrific double standards in journalism over Saudi stuff regarding how we're looked at versus others, but this isn't it.
-
They only want the friendly cancelled so they can say they got it cancelled. "We drove the Saudis away just over a friendly match, the mags welcomed being OWNED by them, that's how classy we are compared to them". I think they'd be quite unbearable in their backslapping if it was cancelled, even though the reality is that it's a piece of piss to not want a meaningless friendly for some free "Fewman rights" points, and we all know they'd all be completely different if the prospect of actual success was dangled their way instead.

And most of the other 61% have likely voted as they have because of our ownership, and to make themselves look virtuous. And this on a match with no financial benefit to them. If they were promised untold riches, they'd be all over the deal like it's a portion of cheesy chips.

To those saying 235 isn't that big a number, it's not 235 bets, it's 235 breeches. Footballers are allowed to bet, are they not? Just not on their own team. At best it's outright stupidity on a ridiculous scale, if that's what he's done. At worst, if he's betting on his team to lose, it could be match fixing.
-
It really wasn't.

Love the concept that just 12 months on from being certainties to be relegated, us finishing 5th this year would be some kind of 'win' for them. Guess what, seat shitters? It's a pretty big win for us too.

What a time to be a Newcastle fan. Absolutely loving it. The transformation, from despair to pure joy every week, is just incredible.

Delighted for him. Was a good hit too, not some "in off his arse" goal that sometimes players in a poor run need, it was a proper tidy finish. Hope we see him rifle in a few more.

I love seeing Newcastle players play for England, and especially at big tournaments like the World Cup and he'd definitely deserve a call up, he's been fantastic over a long period of time. But on the flip side, Wilson's also got hamstrings made of play-doh and I don't really want him running round for anyone that isn't us.

It probably ISN'T a purple patch, you're right. This is the player we signed, the player who played in the MLS. This is exactly what we hoped he'd be when he joined, just he was Bruced for most of his time. Now Eddie's getting him back to his best and probably a bit better again.
-
They're happy in the Championship because they know that if they come up, we'll utterly wallop them. Given that their entire identity is around "beating the mags", the very best thing they can think to do is to hide away in the lower leagues and cling to being unbeaten against us in however long it is. It's literally all they've got left.

Shelvey has, like others, thrived under Howe. He deserves another year at least.
