Is my math correct that if the mackems lose on Wednesday and Hull win on Saturday they are officially relegated? Or do Hull need to win 2 games? Not that there is much chance they will lose against Boro, they are equally rubbish!!

I would have to doubt that he would want another relegation but, it is likely that his investment would be the bare minimum to stay up each season.

I'm not sure our position will be as strong as you think given we've possibly made a large loss this season and next season will need huge reinvestment. Well the very least we can expect is a jump in broadcasting revenue from less than 1kk to in excess of 60kk. Our current, slightly favorable position is mostly due to the Sissoko, Wijnaldum and Townsend sales and the fact that we didn't reinvest all of that money. But, you are totally right... we have some serious money to spend if we are going to remain on the gravy train for a few seasons (hopefully permanently) to come.

Quite interesting. Puts into context the fact that Newcastle have still made a profit in the latest set of figures, albeit quite small and mostly thanks to the fact that our debt is interest free "thanks" to Mike Ashley. If/ when we are promoted at the end of this season our position will be very strong while Sunderland have some incredibly serious issues to deal with should they be finally relegated. Shame - snigger!
  5. I once had a seat there for a match and was in a front row, the railing completely obstructs any chance of a decent view. Seat was comfy though!

You would get 10p Well no.... Well they're hardly likely to survive are they? Hence you get 10p.... (red face....)
  8. Full PGMOL statement: "In this evening's EFL Championship game between Newcastle United and Burton Albion, referee Keith Stroud awarded Newcastle a penalty in the 29th minute. "As Matt Ritchie took the kick, Dwight Gayle encroached in the penalty area. "An indirect free kick was awarded to Burton, but the Laws of the Game state that the penalty kick should have been retaken. "Unfortunately the referee has misapplied the Law. "Keith and his team are understandably upset at the lapse in concentration and apologise for the mistake." Quoted from .com

That is quite nice. I go to the match with my dad who is in his late 70's and also my 11 year old son.... Nice sentiment in their advert.

Them going down as bottom club would be fairly sweet though....
  13. Would happily take a point right now. Game could still easily go either way. We look ok when going forward but, awful in defence.
  14. Loving Rob Lee referring to Newcastle as 'we'. Still loves the Toon.

  16. Think the East Stand was £639 for new season ticket holders for this season. Obviously people on various different deals paying different amounts. Yup, that is about how much for a seat in the East Stand, generally a good view but, really crappy facilities, huge queues at the bars at half time, stinking old toilets and an absolute nightmare to get in and out before and after the game. You would think, due to the fact that a lot of East Stand Dwellers have been going to the match forever that they would have figured out a decent queuing system to get in - instead all you get is a huge gathering with people not sure where each queue starts or ends... then people get all anxious when, by complete accident, you stand in front of them. And I have no idea where they all come from when it comes to getting out. I am about 2/3 way back the east stand and I can wait for several minutes before I can even start to move towards the exits due to people coming from the few rows behind me. This is not such a big deal to be fair but, I am just constantly amused at how long it can take to get cracking at the full time whistle.
  17. If anyone has no connection to any of the other teams listed I would love it if you would all vote for Felling Magpies. This is my lads teams. They would benefit from the money along with 2 other groups from the same club. 1000 quid buys a lot of stuff for a grassroots football team!
  18. You do know that these kids aren't professional ball boys don't you? They are kids from local grassroots football teams on the whole. They turn up an hour before kick off and get to borrow some "uniform", get a brief talk about what to do - which includes being told not to climb over the holdings or enter the field of play. My son did it recently with his team. They all had a great experience which surely is what it is all about.... It's lovely that we give local youngsters the opportunity to do it, but that detracts nothing from my original point. The problem is clearly the instructions (or lack of) that they are given. I'm not asking them to climb over hoardings or enter the field of play, I'm just asking them to retrieve the ball at some sort of pace and get it put back in the pitch as soon as possible. Like I said in my original post, the longer it takes to return the ball - the better for the opposition who have come to frustrate and slow the game down. Yes, I get your point but, the kids don't really get told anything. My lad loved it but, he said some of the kids in his team were really nervous about it, understandable when they are at the front of a full house at St James'. Funnily enough they also got to be ball boys at Gateshead this season as well, that was a whole different experience with the players shouting at them all the time, swearing to hurry them up. The ball can disappear for 100yards behind the goals in that stadium... Unless they are brought in hours before kick off and given a tutorial and then some practice then the same situation will always exist with poorly prepared young kids dropped in at the deep end.

I was on the Metro yesterday. I can confirm that on the specific train and carriage I travelled on from Haymarket to Heworth that claimed altication did not happen....

  22. Actually yes, Bernard and Enrique were both very good left backs. It shows really that - given I have supported and followed NUFC for close to 45 years (since my first ever match) - that I have to really think about who was a great left back.
  23. I am still a fan of the three centre backs with pacey full backs operating as "wing backs". Yedlin fits that role in my opinion for the right but, we have never had a suitable left back / left wing back in my history of supporting this club. Beresford could have been the closest. With that formation we can use Shelvey centrally with another playmaker and a defensive midfielder, then to finish off the formation we need a good #10 to back up whichever striker we go with. I am half convinced that this is the eventual formation / structure that Benitez is aiming for.
