  1. It is only right really and I for one am very happy about this, it's only about £40-£50 but, normally I would have expected about the same amount as an increase so in reality it is about £100 below the amount it theoretically could have been per seat. Good!!
  2. The only thing about renewing that I hate (apart from shelling out the cash) is the fact that the renewal notice comes out the day the season ends.
  3. scroll down the link to season ticket prices for this season: http://www.nufc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Prices/0,,10278,00.html
  4. Arsenal have a waiting list that is like "dead mans seat". They could theoretically charge whatever they wanted and still have a queue. Our position is very different!
  5. The thing most people fail to realise about the scarves is that usually when you renew your ticket you get a voucher for the club shop (£10). There was no voucher this year with the promise of a quality scarf on the first home match. Obviously the scarf didn't materialise until well into the season and the distribution of said scarves was nothing short of shambolic but, that is another story.
  6. Attendances have dropped though. We have had a number of sub 50k in the Premiership and loads of low turnouts for the cup games. We used to have a waiting list of more than 11k people waiting for season tickets, that list has gone and for the first time in may years we have been selling half season tickets. The writing is on the wall for the club, we are a very expensive team to support and we should get something back!!
  7. Some clubs have already announced that they plan to reduce season ticket prices for next season as well as reducing the gate price for individual games because of the new sponsorship deal the Premier League have brokered. All Premier League teams will recieve far higher prize money (based on league position) than ever before. What are the chances of our prices being reduced? Probably zero but, maybe a small token of keeping the prices the same as this year will be offered. Just for those that do not know about the deal: Richard Scudamore of the Premier League has negotiated a deal that means the team finishing top of the Premiership will win £50m over and above any teevee money they receive during the course of a season. On top of this even the relegated teams will receive around £30m (almost double what they would have received last in 2006 for finishing bottom). The amount awarded is incremental and proportionate to the position the team finishes in the league.
  8. This is the first home game of the season that I am going to have to miss because of work commitments. Really sick to be honest. I won't even be able to watch it on teevee as I will be in Glasgow in a business meeting all evening. I will have my phone on silent to get updates of the score etc!!
  9. Having Nobby at the club is worthwhile on a number of levels: He can read the game better than anyone else at the club and is good for the development of other players. I would like to see him finish his playing career here then move into a coaching role. He is also a very decent player who can fill a number of positions and he clearly loves the club as well as the area!! Finally he is the only player I would rely on to score a penalty under pressure out of our whole playing staff, he never seems to be phased. He should be allowed to stay as long as he wants to.
  10. Very good, number 3 is 1910 but, all the rest spot on!! 9) What is Newcastle's record league victory? 10) Who was it against? 11) Who was Newcastle's first manager? 12) Which team did we sign Miandinha from?
  11. I have a few interesting questions for you: 1) Who were Newcastle playing when they recorded their highest attendance of 68386? 2) Who holds the record for the most league and cup goals in a season? 3) What year did Newcastle record their first FA Cup victory? 4) Who were the opponents for above? 5) Which team stopped Newcastle's record unbeaten run at the start of the 1992/3 promotion season? 6) When Newcastle beat Royal Antwerp in the 1994 UEFA cup what was the aggregate score? I can probably get a few more but, there's 6 to start off with to see who is the NUFC brain of the forum. (Or more likely who can get the answers off the internet the quickest!!)

    Animals

The thing is that regardless whether the story refers to a social problem or not it still reflects badly on Newcastle United. Showing that a proportion of our fan base is yet to emerge from cave man status.

It has been years since I last saw any sort of football related violence in Newcastle, I really thought those days were a long way behind us. There is seriously absolutely no need for it!!

    Duff's Dive

    Guess "Quiminal Investigation Authority"
  15. That is mine as well. A couple of those paper planes really covered some distance. Another (regular) none football favourite moment of mine is the Away Fans Challenge formerly at The Vault and currently at Sam Jacks, always makes me laugh!!

    St James' Park

Like most people who have responded to this thread St James's means everything to me. As I walk up the stairs with the crowd towards my entrance I can feel the excitement growing and even though I have been going to the match for more years than I care to mention I still get a huge rush as I see the pitch for the first time. The hairs on my neck stand up!! These days the P.A. is normally blasting out Thunderstruck as I enter the ground but, when the Fortuna tune starts and the players come out the adrenaline really starts to flow and once the Local Hero theme comes on the emotion is at it's peak!!!!!! When the crowd is really on song and we are playing well the atmosphere becomes electric, can you imagine being on the pitch as a player while all this is going on? St James's Park is without doubt the best stadium in the UK, has the best location and the best fans! Just need a team to really make the place complete. The Keegan days were the ones for me. Andy Cole scoring for fun and winning all the time. Good times indeed..............

    dear mongs

I'm not an Ultra or a mong but, I think the song that Man Utd sang, to the tune of The Entertainer, is: "Follow follow follow, Because United are going to Glasgow, There'll be thousands of "reds" They'll all be pissed out their heads, Because United are going to Glasgow."
  18. They don't seem to hate us when they are in the bars around town before the match...... They even get their own little act to do in Sam Jacks!!
  19. ;D That's a pretty unbiased sample, isn't it? Sorry, not all are blues fans, a couple support West Brom as well. No-one likes Villa! They call them The Vile and keep on with accronyms such as SOTV (shit on the villa - I think).
  20. That will probably have to be hastily concluded after the match tonight then as I am sure Roeder has other things to be getting on with right now!! Prepare the team for a match that WE ALL WANT TO FUCKIN WIN!!
  21. Is it fair to say that we have concluded any business that is going to take place this window? I.E. One loan signing!
  22. No-one in the country likes Aston Villa, so they have to live in their own deluded little world. I know a couple of lads from that neck of the woods who support Birmingham and they told me that Villa are the least popular team in the Midlands.
  23. Just thought that West Ham seem to be amassing a fair collection of defenders........ Could be a mile off course.
