  1. I've got it. It's a good read with plenty of facts and figures. The sort of thing that I would like to take on holiday and read while lying in the sun!! Anyone read Gazzas autobiography? That was a very good read with some proper laughs in it as well as some interesting facts that I didn't know.

    Wor Jackie

Desn't seem that long ago. Well, he is one of those rare characters that is remembered fondly by everyone who knows anything about football.
  3. Alan Partridge got it 100% spot on: Womens football = Monkey Tennis.
  4. you know a girl called Alix? you know a girl called Alix? Second name Cox? No, sorry neither Alix or Alix Cox (he he he).
  5. I go in the Sovereign Club (pricey) and as you place your card in the machine the screen above displays your name, in my case Mr M Pinkney and that is it. The people who entered before me all had the same name on their cards and two were girls, Mr A Smith (for example). As long as an adult is not trying to use a concessionary ticket there is no problem with getting in.
  6. My all time favourite chant / song is: We got Mirandina, He's not from Argentina, He's from Bra-zil, He's fuckin brill. Anyone remember Mick Mahoney, super goaly la la la la la or He's fat, he's round, he bounces on the ground Micky Quinn - Micky Quinn
  7. I have been trying to work it out. It is basically a 10 month interest free offer so divide the cost of your ticket by 10 and that is what you pay between now and May next year. If we have a good run in the League cup this season we could get about 6 free home games, value approx £120, add that to 3 - 4 in the FA CUp and that could be an extra £80 worth of tickets. Next season could be a different story if we qualify for the UEFA Cup. Add those matches to the League and FA cup and we could get nearer £300 of free games. This all depends on whether you go to every home cup game already and pay for the privilidge, not every season ticket holder does of course!! EDIT: Just noticed it says "a seat for every home cup game". Not necessarily your own?
  8. Big shame, thoughts are with the family and friends. x
  9. There is a small piece about the match on NUFC.COM but, there are no details about Owen yet.
  10. Dyer's house is for sale at Darras Hall, something like £2.6million.
  11. That tackle could cause serious injury.... luckily it is only Dyer.
  12. I think we will win fairly comfortably. It would be nice to see a goal or two at the Gallowgate end (for us) as well. Recently all the goals, bar Milners late one vs. Juventus, have been in the Leazes end. Or at least it seems that way. Not seeing any goals (at all) in home league matches for the last half dozen games last season was hard!! Most goals in our friendlies were at the other end to where I sit. Predict maybe 2 - 0 Martins and Viduka.
  13. I always hoped that Solano would finish his playing career at Newcastle and then move into a coaching role. He is the best technical footballer we have at the club and his knowledge / ability to read the game is second to none. Would hate to see him go!!
  14. I hate Sunderland. That's all.
  15. was it trying to get out of bed or when he stretched after waking up? sure they said it was when he stretched after waking up. How unfit do you have to be for that to give you a muscle strain. Got him in my dream team too, will have to get shot.. I think the problem is that footballers are so fit that it only takes the slightest thing for them to pull a muscle. A bit like a finely tuned racing car I suppose, in that it doesn't take a lot for them to break down or not run properly..... It does make you laugh though, I have played football for nearly 30 years and never really had an injury that stopped me from tutning out. Slight strains and knocks were just played through.
  16. Patience is a virtue that we have had to develop over the many years of almost being there. I, personally have no shortage of it. But, in reality the way Newcastle have shown in pre season gives me loads of optimism, I have been to all the home friendlies and think that we have played really well in all of them. We have good reason to feel optimistic while keeping our feet firmly planed on the ground.

    Toon Ultras

Excellent atmosphere coming from the "old corner" today. Well done lads!! http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/more/bigs/c011.gif http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/more/bigs/c014.gif

    Kieron Dyer

When any player leaves Newcastle after 8 years there is always a little saddness however, I think that Dyer's time has been up for a long time and while his fitness is at its' current level now is the time to do the deal. Whether he starts as a superstar for West Ham it is pretty nailed on that he will soon be back to his old ways of petulance. With the assistance of Craig Bellamy he is certain to find the bright lights of London too much to resist. Keep an eye on the papers!!
  19. Not going to argue with those more in the know than me but, I had a quick check on theaa.com and their directions were not far off what I thought: Your route details - View summary results | Plan a new route From: Ipswich,Suffolk To: West Ham United F.C.,London Reverse this route Distance: 75.4 miles Show in kilometres Time: 1 hr 40 min Print this page Send to a friend Show map of route Map of destination
  20. Roz has impressed me so far as well. I think he makes up for his lack of physical presence with so intelligent football. Him and Taylor will be a very decent pairing.
  21. Plenty of players live well away from their place of work. Viduka wants to stay in North Yorkshire. Where does he play? Alan Brazil seems to manage on Talksport! True, but, Ispwich would take about 1hr 45mins to West Ham assuming fair traffic. Not sure whether that may be too far away for a commute. Mark Viduka lives in Harrogate which is about the same (maybe 20 mins less), maybe you're right!! Personally if Dyer goes (or should I say when) I wish him well, even though he has been a little shit at times up here!!
  22. I said in an earlier thread that his family are in Ipswich, fair enough a move to London makes the journey to Ipswich shorter but, I doubt he will be living there so what does he gain? Not much in my opinion! All that said, if we force him to stay this season he will not necessarily play as well as he can as his heart will not be in the job, some may suggest that has been the case for a number of seasons now. In two years he can leave and we get nothing! May as well sell him now while he still holds some financial value. I'm also not sure where hi is going to fit into the team, we are strong in midfield (assuming Geremi plays there) with decent talent in that department. We have enough strikers as well. I doubt Dyer would get many games (if the squad was injury free, that is).

    Idiots booing Dyer

I will never boo one of our players however, I was very surprised to hear that Dyer was on the bench for this game. I doubt Sam would have named him in the squad if we had more players. Our squad is painfully thin at the moment!! I thought that when Dyer came out to warm up he looked embarrassed and only ran up and down a couple of times before going back into the dugout. To give him his dues he came on at half time and really put the effort in. Sadly I have seen that before, he very occasionally shows us what he can actually do while most of the time he has been a waste of a very high salary. I'm sure he will leave before the season starts and I'm sure that he will do well for whoever he signs for but, I doubt they will get any more out of him than we have in the long term. Thought Luque was starting to look really good before he pulled his groin.
