I am going but, I don't expect a big crowd. In fact if there are 25k there I would be surprised. Should be a bit easier getting home afterwards though!! I am dreading the Stoke fans who clearly think they were responsible for getting Sam the sack, just them, nothing else was taken into account!!

Haven't read every post in this thread so may be going over old ground here but, I would be happy to see Deschamps in charge at Newcastle for two reasons: 1) Is he about the only manager so far that Oliver hasn't predicted would be the next man! 2) He would get us playing good flowing football that is easy on the eye and effective. Here is a quote creditted to him from "the water carrier" “If you want to have the most freedom to act, the best country seems to be England, where the coach can decide more on signings,” Deschamps told L’Equipe. “Spain is attractive too but Italy would be difficult as I am labelled ‘Juventus’.”

As long as we stay up this season, which I am certain we will, the new manager for Newcastle will be bankrolled in a way we have not seen for many years, only my opinion based on the fact that Ashley wants to watch entertaining successful football - therefore needs to buy practically a full new team! That said, most managers, whether they are currently managing Champions League clubs or not, surely would love the chance to put a team together that would be capable for bringing some success our way. Sorry for continuing when the thread was clearly over...............

That's a really good point made there, why not go to Benitez and make him an offer? Imagine the owners of Liverpool when he says "Right you pair of muppets, I hate you and you hate me, you are trying to get me out. I'll tell you what, I'll make it easy for you - I'm off. Byeeeee" Plus a manager like him would help us get the best out Enrique, I suppose!

That was a decent read, ever thought about publishing a novel?
-
On the plus side he should get on well with Joey Barton.
-
Someone send those stats to Ashley and Mort please!!!!
-
Just been watching SSN for 15 mins and spent the entire time cringing, some of the emails that they choose to read out are just awful, particularly love the ones from the Toon Haters (Man Utd fans in particular), apparently we need to get a life and give our heads a shake, we are a rubbish team from a rubbish town and the sooner we realise this the better. ;D Also, news to me this one!! We haven't won anything for over 50 years!! Good god, has it been that long?
-
Seemingly Rednap does a prematch press conference every week on a Friday so this all seems like madness. I think we have got to give Ashley and Mort the benefit of the doubt on this one. They will not sell us up the river with a second rate manager, they, especially Ashley, know the fans views and they know what we would like. Until I am proven wrong I will believe that Ashley has his man and they are both laughing at the press madness that has surrounded Newcastle since the departure of Big Sam.
-
Exactly!! If they announce everybody then surely one of them will be right and they can claim that they knew and have the "inside knowledge".

It said on the radio yesterday that Martin Jol had been seen walking into St James's Park. I couldn't help myself but, to laugh out loud in my car. What? Just wandered in from the street? Anyone who the club is going to talk to will be met in secret locations so as to avoid speculation, once appointed the club will make a statement! Everyone is entitled to think what they want and have opinions on who it is going to be but, only 2 people really know!
-
If you have followed the betting trends and paper talk it is clear that no-one has a bloody clue as to what is going on!! There have been three dead certainties already and other contenders' odds have drastically shortened or indeed lengthened depending on what SSN or the papers have just reported. Let's get this clear, no-one except Ashley and Mort know what they are going to do and everything else is nothing more than opinion and speculation.

Read that this morning and thought exactly the same, the media are loving this!!
-
Not exactly a groundswell of enthusiasm then for this game.............. I expect that all we will be able to hear throughout the match will be the Stoke supporters singing songs about how clever they are for getting Big Sam the sack! (That's if they can imagine a few up!) Not really looking forward to it, plus I'm off the booze for a month so I'll have to watch the game sober!!
-
Personally I doubt whether we will hear anything believable before Monday next week.
-
I guessed that we might struggle to get to 20k for this game, I also thought the Stoke fans are likely to beat us in terms of support. I just wondered whether the change in circumstances has made a few who would not normally bother to think twice and turn out for the team.............
-
Is Stoke on Wednesday next week, I paid for my ticket yesterday morning before the news broke. Has the change in circumstances made you less or more likely to want to go to the match? What do you think the atmosphere will be like? The Stoke fans think that they got Sam the sack and I would guess that they are coming up in big numbers!!
-
Ashley must have someone lined up unless Allardyce has driven this himself. If the club has suggested he leaves then only 6 months into his contract it will be bloody expensive. All that I can find on the news is that it is by mutual agreement, that could mean anything but, almost certainly means he has been paid up to go! Just hope Ashley pulls a rabbit out of the hat, would be delighted if it was Jose!
-
Quite frankly i am shocked and appalled. In the middle of a transfer window, just 6 months into his reign as our manager......... Who is going to want to take the job on, it will be like the England job up here before long in that no one wants to take us on! God I hope it isn't McLaren.
-
I favour the "V" salute anyway, if it is slightly crooked then all the better!
-
-
Just seen on Sky Sports that Fulham are supposed to be interested in Boumsong. Can I just ask why?
-
I think that when your luck is down it is really down. There wasn't hardly a worse draw to be had out of that hat and for us to come out second as the away opponents to Arsenal did not really surprise me at all. I am going to the Emerates in 29th Jan, not sure if I can stretch to a second trip down there in the same week though!!

I read that aticle this morning and quite frankly couldn't believe what I was reading. The amount of disrespect that is shown to Newcastle United and the fans of our club by National journalists is unbelievable.
