  1. My worry is that the ease that we won the Championship last time makes Ashley think it wouldnt be disastrous if it happened again. The TV money covered by high profile sales.
  2. Natrass would've been a class right back in todays game. Full backs in his day didn't go forward anywhere near as much as todays do......but Irving did, he was definitely ahead of his time.
  3. Uh-oh. And a striker who can play wide left...it'll be like 3 new signings.
  4. The back four was like pulling a stunning bird with stunningly great legs, spread them only to find a cock waiting in the middle. Even as a 6 or 7 year old, I understood our central defenders were shite. Excellently put by the way Toon Pack.
  5. To do what Keegan did, take a team threatened with relegation from the Championship to a side challenging consistently for the Prem title in 18 months doesn't get anywhere near the kudos it should from people except for us lot.
  6. Elegant best describes him.madras' comparison to Roeder's style is a good one, though Nattrass was a class above Glenn. Criminal really that he never got capped, especially when you consider the right backs that Revie and Greenwood selected. Cherry, Phil Neal, even Brian bastard Greenhoff. Nattrass was superior to all mentioned, and did indeed have a spell in midfield in the 78-79 season, he was that adept.
  7. Kind of agree with that. They set the standards to what a club the size we are should be. But the Prem landscape has altered ridiculously since even Sir Bobby was in charge. Still think though, that bottom half of the table is unacceptable mind.
  8. I have it on good authority that Wash Ngog is indeed a smokescreen. For Jay Bothroyd.
  9. Why? Who scouts our transfer targets and recommends whether we pursue them ? Not Pardew that is for sure.
  10. Similar to mine, mind yours has seemingly gone further. He'll keep track of results and news and watch if it happens to be on but just doesn't have the passion like he did 10 years ago. Still tells me about all the away day stories of the 70s/80s. Shame he doesn't have that level of passion but I think that will hold true for an awful lot of people. Certainly holds true for me. My love for the game has diminished over the past 10 years.
  11. He's bulked out and seems to have lost a yard, not the player he once was......doubtful he'd leave the Midlands as well.
  12. Two of the more obvious Premiership strikers who seem to be on the market are Bent and Danny Graham so both are likely to get touted in rumours. I don't know what Villa are paying Bent but suspect it might be more than we would so that could kill that one off fairly sharpish? I like Danny Graham and would be happy to have him among our options, he's from Gateshead so maybe a Newcastle shirt might mean something other than a job to him. Mick dodah, said on total sport that Graham was way down on our list, which doesn't bode well in trying to sign him. Personally i don't think we are even in for him. Bent = meh imo. Bent isn't even on the radar, wrong type of player completely. As for Graham being way down our list, I just hope whoever is way up our list is going to end up here this month. Otherwise that list is going to get shoved up someone's jacksy Aye, our list though seem like they could be written on a stamp And have room for the Lord's Prayer.
  13. He literally can't win though, if he said he was happy with the players he had he would be absolutely ripped to shreds on here. I agree with this. Obviously if he could win a bit more often, we wouldn't be having a relegation threatened season

  15. I'm not convinced there are any personal issues.
  16. Perfectly summed up there 'Pol.

    Alan Pardew

On deadline day they appear to be. Why is any other day any different? QPR managed to start and finish the Remy deal in the space of about 24 hours didn't they? QPR didn't do the deal in 24 hours... It doesn't matter - WUllie's point is correct. They got the player and relatively quickly too after he heard their terms.....we used to do deals quickly when SJH and KK were running the club and quietly too in most cases. The current board are all talk and no action...as for Pardew, he's just a puppet in transfer dealings. They totally hijacked our deal and offered ridiculous terms. We don't want to be doing that. The fact we got him to the negotiating table shows we're not all talk and no action I think you'll find just negotiating without signing someone is precisely all talk and no action.
  18. Pardew was at Blackpool tonight. Someone needs to tell him that Marlon Harewood has moved on... Giving Simpson a run on the beach.
  19. Southampton in it too of course, Sunderland could get sucked in, think one team will drop from mid table too, like West Ham, West Brom or Norwich. There's a lot of crap down there no excuse for us really being in amongst it. Yeah, think there'll be a "mid-table"-ish team which gets sucked in and for me, that team currently looks like being Norwich. Great first 13, 14 games but they've hit a wall recently and are in danger of getting dragged into things IMO. Not in serious danger currently but if they don't get a win or 2 soon they'll be very nervously looking over their shoulder. West Ham are in a real bad run atm.
  20. When the fuck did Ben Arfa say that why let facts get in the way of an agenda? Not that I'd take anyone with spelling like that seriously It was Harry Redknapp's FB page.
  21. Another one of them London / Home Counties Manchester United "supporters".
